Dumb question about cross border flying

I think this question will reveal just how long it's been since I flew (2001 for those keeping score at home).

We are flying to Orlando on Saturday morning and I was wondering if we need to declare any of the electronics we will be taking with us. We'll be taking a couple of cameras and a laptop. In the past we needed to fill out forms essentially proving we owned the stuff before we left and didn't buy it in the states...

Is this still neccesary? Am I making any sense at all?

Is there anybody out there? (That's for the Pink Floyd fans... darn, I'm dating myself again!)

The "correct" thing to do it complete the form from customs but from my experience which deals with flying from Halifax to Sydney, Australia via the US I have NEVER been questioned about this. The only time I do complete the forms are when the items look "new".

Where does one get these custom forms?

You are looking for a "green card" -- they used to be titled Identification of Articles for Temporary Exportation and were stamped by the Customs Officer and initialed by them as well.

Any Canadian Border Service office at the airport should have these forms available.

If you still have your receipts, the green card is not necessary. Bringing the receipts is much more convenient than getting the green card filled out.

The equipment is too old for that.

If this equipment in question is that old I'm sure they won't think you just bought it on your trip. But if you are worried than just get the card.

I have never used them but I travel mostly on business (although I take the same amount of electronics on personal trips). I think you would have to get a customs person who thought you were trying to avoid paying duty to need one.
