Dumb coffee question

I ordered coffee from Garden grocer, but didn't want to order 100 filters for the 6 nights we will be there. I *thought* that I have filters here at home somewhere, but it's been a while since I've brewed a pot. It turns out I only have filters to fit the 4-6 cup machines.

So, here is the dumb question. Can I use a 4-6 cup filter in the DVC coffee pots?

You could try, but I would guess they will fall over in the machine, possibly getting coffee grounds in your coffee. I think you buy 50 filters at the store for about a $1, last time I looked - so I would just go buy some.

At HHI, I bought 50 filters for $1.50 i think & left the extras for the next DVC guests...like a pay it forward kinda thing...just a thought :)

We always get the filter packs for Disney, which makes it easier all around.

Agree

Spend a few bucks...buy the correct filters. Pack what you need (we make 2 pots a day.... am and after the pool)and keep them in your traveling stuff in a zip lock bag. Sure they might last you 6 years...but you dont have to keep thinking about it next time you travel.
We always bring a few bags of GOOD coffee with us. It seems its the best cup of the day. For all the things Disney does extremely well, coffee is not one of them. It is a challenge to get a good cappuccino, and last time the one place we found to make a good cappuccino in HS, made me the worst one and we spent $13 on 2 coffees because I wanted a double shot. I just wont even spend my money and chance a cup of brewed coffeee in the parks....
We did however get a good cappuccino at Tony's in the MK after dinner.....

I've found that, in a pinch, paper towels work OK as coffee filters. But at this state I would pack 10 in a ziploc bag before planning a trip to use paper towels.

Thanks, everyone. I am laughing at myself because I am being so cheap to avoid spending $2 on filters. I will add them to my shopping list!

:goodvibess I do the same thing...I'm spending $$$ on a vacation and yet, I hesitate over $1-$2 dollar items. I just tell myself that all the $1's add up and that's why we can go on vacation. :goodvibes

Just put a paper towel in the machine as a filter... been there done that... Improvise, Adapt and Overcome... And stay caffinated.

But there is a chance the towel tears, then you wind up with gritty caffeine :/

Believe it or not, at one of my old jobs the company they made us order office supplies from didn't carry the right filters for our coffee maker. We regularly used paper towels for coffee filters. This went on for over a year and I can only think of one occasion where we had an "incident."

DVC will provide some coffee. Usually 2 filter packs (occasionally just 1) and they will replenish those on cleaning or T&T days. They will swap them out for decaff if needed. Same for the Tide but usually only 1. We collect them as we travel (coffer and Washing detergent) so we have them when we need them. Just did 9 days in Orlando (7 at OKW) and had plenty of both with what was provided and what we had already.

Yes. I have.

Take the 4-6 cup filters and just use less water - you'll be making 6 cups instead of 12.

I always use two filters to guard against the "overflowing of the grounds". :teeth:

Put the filter in and add the coffee. Then put another filter over the coffee - you're really just making your own "filter pack". This method works just fine and it's very easy to clean up when the coffee is done.

Enjoy your stay.

At Sanaa, we ordered a press pot of coffee. I've had this at several restaurants at WDW and it was good. Sanaa was the most recent.

Paper towels in a pinch for filters.

Filterpaks from the shop or filters - we've done both. Bring good coffee from home. (or from your hotel stays in other locales). Several chains have decent coffee.

I drive so I bring my Tassimo or Keurig.

:thumbsup2I have had that happen once... Not exactly as much fun as the prize at the bottom of a cereal box. One other issue I ran into was the paper towel ended up being too "absorbant" and it backed up and flowed out the top, since it wouldn't pass through.... But really, can you be mad a a quality paper towel like that? I think they should use my screw up as a marketing skit...

Over a $2 package of coffee filters (and probably genuine Mr. Coffee's @ $2 @ that!). Really? :lmao:
