Duggar surprise?

LOL, of course not. It just amazes me how quick people are to pass judgment on the Duggars. Really. Why them? Do they sit here and judge all other types of people and cultures throughout the world too?

As a side note - me thinks that a lot of the posters here with thousands upon thousands of posts in a few short years, may need to get out more too. ;)

Um... are you judging those posters?

A good friend of mine is married to a man who can't have children. They decided early on that IVF with donor sperm was not an option. My friend said she went through a "mourning period" when she realized she would never be pregnant, never have her own biological child. But then she accepted it and moved on. They have adopted one daughter and are on a waiting list for a second.

We (more I) went thru that "mourning period", probably more than once during and after the fertility treatments. We were considering adoption when my mom passed away, and I had sort of an epiphany and decided maybe I was having a baby for her, so she could be grandma, that is when I decided I was ready to be happy being childless. It has made a world of difference. I do still have my moments.

I do have 3 wonderful cousins that are 13, 9, and 6 and they are the light of my life.

If this were on Facebook, I'd give it a LIKE!

Whether you become a mother or not, you'll always be worthy. Punkin said it well!

Thank you, she did

Um not medically speaking when it comes to child bearing in older women. after a certain age, ob gyn's give you the list of what could happen, so in that regard, it's not a state of mind.

Only a "state of mind"? Maybe not. Perhaps more a "state of mind and body". And not all minds and bodies are the same.

Not every 'body' ages the same way as aging depends on a multitude of factors related to lifestyle, environment and genetics. Put two 45 yo women next to each other and one will look more like a 35 yo while the other looks more like a 55 yo (and I'm referring to the 'insides' not just the 'outsides'). OB's give you the list of what 'could' happen based upon the average woman of 'advanced maternal age'. Who's to say who's 'average' and who's not? The advanced maternal age talk many women receive from their OB tends to be more CYA than anything else.

As far as Michelle is concerned....no question she is not the 'average' woman. Granted she's pushing her luck simply from a numbers stand point but beyond that.....no one knows. Personally I don't get the suggestion that she needs to stop. Based on her religion....she can't. It simply is what it is. All she can do is take a deep breath and forge ahead. I only wish her luck.

Because they have chosen to broadcast their lives and their children's lives on a TLC 'reality' show, and announce all their pregnancies on the national news.

When you do that, you are fair game!

I love when the Duggar lover's come out and say "who are you to judge them?"
Um, we are the "adoring" public they exploit their "lifestyle" on TV for.

Who are we to judge them? :rotfl: that's a good one.

Yes the Duggars,or at leastthier particular brand of religion, does in fact judge EVREYONE that doesn't beleive exactly like they do. I totally understand whatthey believe becuase I was exposed to that kind of lifestyle as a child. They are required by thier religion to beleive everyone who doesn't subscribe to thier particular brand of religion is not worthy of being counted as a friend for fear they will have a corrupting influence if you get too close to them. They feel every other brand of religion is wrong and its practioners are doomed. So yes, I would sy they do pass judgemnt on others. As to post counts, how long does it really take to time a response? 30 seconds. I wouldn't say posters with lots of them "don't get out" that in itself is just as much a judgemnt as anyone you are condemming.

There Baptist, they said that on the show last night. They are Baptist

well, "baptist" incompasses a WHOLE lot of ground. Anyone can call themselves a "baptist" church becuase there are not rules of official goeverning body. The Southern Baptist Covention can make recommendations but has no governing power over a church. There is not one set of beliefs that is "baptist" theology, but each church comes up with its own. They are trying to use the most neutral, lesat offensive term they can find to describe themselves. Take a look at the literature out there on Quiverfull, and a progam called Goddard Homeschool Method and you will understand more of what their particular brand of "Baptist" is. It is likely very, very different from what you have been exposed to. My statements above come from my "baptist" upbringing in a very similar "church". They believe much the same as the Duggars, based on what the Duggars have said in the past about thier beliefs and the homeschool method they use to reinforce those beliefs.

well cousin Amy doesn't subscribe to their religion...far from it..and they certaintly spend enough time with her. Josh and Anna have even double dated with Amy and one of her boyfriends.

She's a family member, and ther are certian lines she KNOWS she is not allowed to cross. In the early days of the show they say that the younger children have "limtied contact" with her. Why do you think that is??

I'm condemning, or judging no one, but, it is amazing that I mentioned no particular poster in my comments, yet a few have been pointing that comment out as if it was directed at them. (Hitting too close to home maybe)?

Just making an observation. Not judging at all. Really. Now, if you want to talk about the use of a spell checker. ;)

Regardless, I stand firm regarding the Duggars. I believe those who are constantly attacking them, simply have nothing better to do, and really do need to get out more. As for me? I just enjoy seeing everyone get irritated while passing the time on a slow work afternoon. :lmao:

I agree, I think with that many children, at least one of them will eventually rebel, and will write a tell-all book, and will make the talk show rounds.

I'm sure it will happen. Just look at Nathan Phelps.

And here's some more food for thought. Given that roughly 10% of people are gay, that means the Duggars probably have 2 queer kids. :scared1:

LOL at all the Duggar haters these threads always bring out. It's disturbing actually how much judgement is passed on this family by people that know nothing about them. (Not that I do either of course).

 Honey, people constantly pass judgement on those who have decided to put their lives on national television (and are being paid handsomely for it). How many DIS threads have there been on Jon & Kate, the Jersey Shore folks, etc.? The Duggars aren't the recipients of any special vitriol, trust me.

I don't remember that at all:confused3

Did you see the expression on the face of Jim Bob's mom--she didn't look all that happy about the news!!

Sure, you're judging, all the while claiming not to be.

You're also trying to stir the pot, but people are ignoring your deliberately snarky comments. :)

The family is "Duggar Baptist", since they have their own church, with a few other families. So yes, their home is used as a church.

They can call themselves anything they want ~ it doesn't mean they actually follow Baptist teachings.

So everyone who chooses to comment on your post is automatically taking it too personally? How nice for you. I guess that means that no one who disagrees with you could ever have a valid point.

After a class discussion turned particularly nasty one day a profesor told me that when your opponent stoops to personal attack (like correcting someone's spelling or grammar) it is becuase they have nothing further of value to add and are trying to delfect attention from that fact.

I disagree. I have been in that type of situation, and what the Duggars are doing and promoting is wrong and harmful. I refuse to let that go by and see more girls fall victim to it and end up trapped in that kind of world. It is not what they sunshine and rainbows you see on TV.

I can't say I completely disagree. I do however, again, still stand to not pass judgment on them. They all seem happy, and healthy enough. In regards to age, I mean, who knows, but if God wills it, well, who are they, or anyone to question it. :) (Don't mean to get religious on that, but I am very much so myself).

I am also very religious, and I'm not "passing judgement," having an opinion does not meant you are "judging." They put themselves out there, it is normal to have an opinion. Second, I believe Matthew 4:7 addresses the rest.

I have noticed that lately, Anna has gotten a lot more "stylish" looking hair, if that is what you want to call it. Maybe she will be a bit more hip ;)

I don't remember this either.

the younger children seem to have plenty of time with her as far as I can see..:confused3...They accept Amy and love her even though she doesn't follow their religion..I think that much is clear. Ditto for Amy..she accepts them and loves them for who they are.

They all seem to love the film crew..consider them family and have pictures of them on their walls...the young kids LOVE Jim!...

I think the Duggars have their beliefs but are accepting of those that don't.

Each to their own I say...they all seem happy enough and have a lot of love in their hearts. My dysfuntional family could learn a thing or too..:rotfl:
