I know we've got some Duggar followers here on the DIS...I was just watching TLC and there was "breaking news" scrolling on the bottom that the Duggar's are making an announcement tomorrow on the Today show!

Baby #20???

I have a ton of respect for that family. Not only are they well adjusted, nice kids, they have tremendous values and a lot of love.

The reason many balk at #20 is because of all the health issues she had with #19. She could leave at least 19 kids and 1 or 2 grandkids (don't know if the other grandkid has been born yet, but she looked ready to pop on last night's episodes!) motherless and that is really sad.

The health problems had absolutely nothing to do with it being #19. Women having #1 have the same odds of having pre-eclampsia as she did. Don't use that as a reason, because it isn't valid.

My concern is for the health of both her and the baby. Michelle Duggar has a lot of little ones still ... they need a mother.

It is perfectly valid for someone standing outside looking in. I happen to believe it is irresponsible to have a history of pregnancy related health issues and continue giving birth. This is MY belief and the belief of some other people I know and it's just as valid as any reason for or against pregnancy that you have.

maybe the sex of Anna's next one...or maybe another wedding on the way? I don't watch the show but I do know who the family is. There must be a kid near the age of getting married, they are all so close together.

I can only pray that after baby #19 almost died, they had the good sense not to ry for 20. I hope for the DIL's sake she is not preggers agian. If one of the older ones is getting married, well, mabye she will have a chance to escape this lifestyle. I highly doubt that will be allowed uintil the little ones can take care of themselves however. No free baby sitting if they get married and get out.

They most certianly DO have everything to do with it being #19. Every baby puts stress on moms body and saps more resources. She doesn't have adequate recovery time in between so she is more depleted gonig into each pregnancy. Add that to her advanced maternal age, multiple c-sections, and her tendency to eclampsia and that would make each preganacy higher risk than the last. It would be medically irresponsible to try to have any more at this point.

ETA: actually, the older the mother the greater the odds are that she will have eclampsia, and having had it with one pregnancy significantly increases the risk with future pregnancies.
