We really like Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich. Both are awesome. Although, we usually pay OOP for Earl of Sandwich, since it's so inexpensive.
We usually pay OOP for Earl of Sandwich because of the way we spend our CS credits. One day of our trip, we'll eat an early TS breakfast at Crystal Palace, then we use two CS credits each for a late lunch and a late dinner. It works for us!
Well I am not sure if this will be able to help you much, however my family and I don't purchase the DDP and Earl of Sandwich is one location we go to at least two different times while at WDW. So obviously we would be paying OOP each time and we happen to think their prices are very reasonable.
I guess what I really need to know is how is the food, since cost won't be a big deal on the DDP> Is there anything that I should know before I go in to order? Are there any items that are not covered? Or even whats the best thing to order?

You get a sandwich, chips and a drink. Or sandwich, dessert and a drink. The dessert are limited choice...I'm thinking it was a large cookie or cupcake.
We really liked the "Original" - was a roastbeef sandwich. Think Arby's roast beef sandwich but way, way, way better.
