DSLR Instructional Websites

Hi All!

I'm going to be purchasing my first DSLR this weekend. I'm wondering if there are any good websites for tips on using and shooting with these cameras. I'm purchasing either the Nikon D5000 or Canon Ti.

These boards are a good place to gather some information. Most of the basic ideas behind using any DSLR are pretty much the same. Sure, adjusting settings is different, but the trusty manual will help that. I for one have the T1i. So if you have specific questions about that, I'll be glad to help you.

And if you wanna check out a book to learn some photography bascis, check out Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. It's about composing shots, and how to set up your camera for different situations. It's totally easy to follow; and he has amazing picture examples.

I second SrisonS's suggestion on getting Understanding Exposure by Peterson. Great reference and an easy read, but lots of good information that you'll refer to time and time again.

Why are you only looking at Nikon and Canon? You should also look at the Pentax K-x.

I second TinkDH's suggestion of Nikon's Learn and Explore. They have great tutorials that any camera user can follow. There's also a great free iPhone App of it. It's the same exact information as on the normal website; but at least you can easily view it on the go.
