ok so it's been decided--DD8 will be getting a DS from Santa, which one though is my next question...I don't want her having internet access unless I can monitor it because she's very curious and even when we let her use our computer she gets into sites accidentally nothing bad but she clicks on stuff wrong..strange, i know for a 8 yr old NOT to have a computer but that's how it is here..I want her to use it for games and for educational learning...Which would you recommend for a 8 year old who hasn't had much access to something like this? we're not a gamer family--no Wii here yet and no one plays video games..Does the DS lite ever come in a bundle package? DD likes the games she's seen so I'm gonna bite the bullet and get it for her..any tips and/or advice would be great!

You can block/shut off the internet access. Next Question do you have any gameboy games if so then consider the DSlite if not then go the DSi or the New DSiXL it has a bigger screen. When DD was 8 she got a DSi no bundle but I got nervous that I wouldn't find one so I bought early. She Loved the LPS games, Pet Vet-which has alot of reading to it, as you will find most DS games do. Makes me fell a little better that she gets some reading in;) 2 years later she still uses it quite abit.

Nope no gameboy games here, the last gameboy we had was the original ones from WAY back in the day from when i was just entering my teens i'm guessing..

Both my daughters have DSis: they love the camera function; making pictures with funny/cute effects...

They never use the internet option as I have not activated it.
