DS(6) came home from school.......

It could just be strep throat. I went to the doctor yesterday with a sore throat and fever. When I get strep, it's really bad, so I always go to the doctor at the first sign of a sore throat.

If it is strep, ask the doctor if your DS can have a steroid shot along with the antibiotics. That will boost the healing process and make your DS feel better much sooner.

My DD5 got sick on Halloween with her tummy bothering her and Diarrea and she had that through Sunday. She woke up Monday with a 103.7 temp and vomiting that day. Tuesday she had high temps again (vomiting) and it ended that night. Wednesday she was fine and no meds were given to fever reduce. She was coughing this morning, but she's fine otherwise. She's going to school today, since she's been fever free for 24 hours.

She had the flu, but not diagnosed with H1N1. I'm going to look at the letter the school sent out when the flu started.

If you get Tamiflu, ask for pills, not liquid. The liquid can be more upsetting to the stomach.

Yep, that's true. My son isn't able to do pills yet and the liquid upset his tummy. I gave him Emetrol about 5 minutes before giving him the Tamiflu. Worked like a charm. :thumbsup2 I would have never thought of that but the pharmacist recommended it.

OP, I hope everything works out in your favor and I hope he feels better soon.

We called her dr. and they said she is still contagious for 5-7 days. Now DH and I together made the decision to keep her home another day. There's no school tomorrow for records day, so she will have plenty of rest time. We're being careful not to spread this around. It was terrible for her to go through and last night she was still irritable and crying a lot, even though there were no fever.

The symptoms she had were: diarrea, fever (103.7), chills, vomiting, fatigue, stuffy nose and coughing.

DS(6) just came home from school coughing saying his throat hurts and he doesn't feel good. He is burning up with fever now! I am so worried!! I really hope it isn't anything serious, like the flu. What are the symptoms I should be watching for? Poor little guy, I hate when he gets sick!

We leave for Disney on Sunday for our vow renewal along with 50 of our family and friends. I really hope this is just a virus and no one else gets it!

Yep, I would get Tamiflu for him and your family if possible. I hope you can make it to your vow renewal.

You all are so great and have such great information! Thanks so much!

DS had the fever, 101 through the night and has a cough but wasn't coughing at night. I took him to the Dr. and he has a upper respiratory infection! No flu, thank goodness! His nose is a little runny now too. She gave him an antibiotic to be on for 5 days and didn't want to give him the H1N1 vaccine today. I will go back on Sat. so both kids can get it. She said they should get it before our trip. Also, she said if the fever gets higher and he starts getting worse after a few days, then bring him back in. So, we shall see how it goes. I am keeping him home, hydrated and have him resting. Again thank you all for the great advice!

take a flash light and look in his mouth. if he has white patches on his tonsils/throat, its probably strep.

Thank you all very much for the great advice and well wishes!

Called the Dr. and I will bring him in first thing in the morning. They said it could be anything because a lot of kids sicknesses start with soar throat and fever(strep, virus).

My cousin just called and her kids have coxsackie virus! She is freaking out also cause we fly down together on Sunday. Her kids are 3 and 1.

Why did this have to happen now!!:sad2:

I hope he feels better soon...but please if it is the flu please have someone stay in with him so others are not at risk...I know that is a awful thing but I know you would hate for someone elses child got sick.We are leaving in the morning for 8 days at wdw but we have all had the h1n1 vaccine but a lot of others have not had the chance to get it yet.NEVERMIND JUST READ YOUR UPDATE....THAT IS GOOD HE DOES NOT HAVE THE FLU HAVE FUN!!

they are now saying that they are still passing it around many days after fever...if she CAN miss school that would be better because she could give it to other kids...I hope she is feeling better:hug:
