Drying your bathing suits

I have a question and an idea. How do folks dry their bathing suits? Just off the Fantasy and we found it to be a pain. Even staying in a Royal suite with all the room and storage space, there simply wasn't a good way to dry the swimsuits for 5 people. There was a small retractable clothesline in the small bathroom that was not adequate. Putting them out on the verandah is an idea but if it gets really windy they could blow away.

I had an idea. What about those water extractors for swimsuits? I have seen them at the Y and at the gym. Its a small appliance you can put in one suit at a time, hold the lid closed and in 10 seconds 95% of the water is extracted. It would be a heck of a lot more useful than the DISHWASHER they now have in the kitchenette of the cat Rs They could install a few of them around the ship.

I sent a suggestion to DCL.

We would use the hangers with the clips and clip our bathsuits and then hang them on the clothesline. It would give us more room than hanging the suits directly on the line.

Love this idea FJS! Another good spot for those dryers would be the locker rooms near the spa and fitness rooms. :thumbsup2

We were in Cat T so we had clothes lines going in both bathrooms and some drying on the tub. Only thing that helped I found was rolling them in towels first to wring out some of the excess water.

The ships have laundry rooms -- just throw the wet suits in a dryer for a few mins.

We clipped our suits outside on the verandah with those large plastic clips you can purchase at the dollar store. We clipped them to the two chairs and it worked like a charm. I feel your pain b/c with the 5 of us the suits in the shower just didn't work. :thumbsup2

Disney has the water extractor machines in the spa at Saratoga Springs...so they do know what they are!

Hint--wrap the suits in a towel and literally walk on the rolled up towel. It removes a lot of water. THen hang on the bathroom line to finish drying.

We bring clothes pins and pin the bathing suits to the chairs on the verandah.

Just incase you were unaware, DCL prohibits items being left on the verandahs at all times:

DCL does not want anything left out on the verandahs while in port or while the ship is moving due to safety issues. They could blow off and onto different verandahs or in the ocean.

Ships can get fined for anything thrown or falling from the ship (as those of us who were on the Panama Canal cruise can remember).

Another reason I have heard the CD say is that they don't want the ship to look like a giant clothesline....makes the ship look tacky.

Thanks! THat is a great first step!

Those extractors are so amazing, I hope they do install them sooner rather than later... so easy. They can't be too expensive either...

Take a look at my older comments... I suggested it to them too, MONTHS ago, and urged others to do the same! I hope this rekindles more people requesting those... they work great!

Our room for our 2013 cruise is very near the laundry. I'll gladly spend 2 bucks each night for dry suits the next morning! Great idea!

We just used the hair dryer.

We attached the hangers with clips to the back of the chairs on the verandah using a zip tie, then clipped the bathing suits onto the hangers aafter rolling them in towels and walking on them.

Bathing suits dried in no time!

I'll have to look into this a bit more though - I know DCL says nothing left on the verandahs during fireworks, but hadn't heard not at all? :confused3

We were at the back of the ship and had the extra long verandah so we had 2 lounge chairs and 2 regular chairs. I had brought plastic laundry clips and clipped the suits to the chairs and honestly they dried very quickly!!!

I bring along 3 suits on my 7 night cruise and rotate them out...this way one is always dry :cool1:
