So indecisive on best route to drive but besides that- the plan is to leave around 4am, we are traveling from new york, going through staten island to new jersey turnpike then after that I haven't decided if taking 95 all the way or what but anyways- I will be driving all day, I was wondering from those who have done it before- I wanted to drive until I was in Florida before we stopped for the night, even if we stop right after we see the Welcome to Florida sign, I want to be there at least. I don't mind driving all day, we are going to try to not spend too much time stopping. If we leave at 4am and stop for the night no later than maybe 9pm/10pm that night- I mean that's 18 hours- I have to be close by then right lol - I mean you don't know what you decide until your doing it right? We might want to call it a night earlier but the excitement will definitely keep me motivated to drive as long as I can. Oh and maybe I should mention, I am the only one driving.

Where would you recommend stopping to stay for the night? Should I check in a day earlier but idk how that works because check in is at 3pm I think and idk how late they let you check in? I don't know- Any thoughts?????? Thank you in advance for your feedback. I love this site and it's so nice to be able to ask these random questions :)

If you are driving I95 down, I would suggest stopping at Georgia Exit 3 (I think it's exit 3). There is a Cracker Barrel plus lots of fast food restaurants and hotels like Jameson Inn and Hampton Inn. I grew up there and it's a safe and nice exit to stop at. You will be a few minutes from the Florida border and the hotels/restaurants are right off of I95. It is about a 3 hour drive to WDW from GA exit 3.

If you want to stay in Florida, I would suggest something off of the Jacksonville airport exit. It's about 25 minutes or so from GA exit 3. There are restaurants, hotels, and shopping off of that exit.

Im assuming it will take you around 5 hours to get to the Washington Beltway. That'll be 9:00 am. When you hit the Beltway north of Washington, go East (staying on Rt. 95). At that hour (even if its a workday) you should be okay on the Beltway. On Rt. 95 in northern Virginia things will be slow until you get to around milepost 130 this is normal so dont get excited. Figure that itll take an hour to go the first 40 miles south of Washington. After that, its clear sailing on Rt. 95. When you get to Jacksonville, take the new road to the East around Jacksonville. It takes us around 10 hours of driving to get from just north of Washington to the Florida line. There are plenty of decent motels to stay in down there especially if all you want is a clean, quiet place to sleep.
