Driving to WDW from Montreal

Has anyone done it? Yes we are considering it- with 3 boys

What time do you leave at?

Where do you sleep? do you reserve before?

Aside from bringing lots of Tylenol, any tips would be appreciated

Hi,

I have done it quite a few times already.

When we're going to WDW, we usually leave around 4pm and drive all night long. It takes about 25 hours to reach WDW. We only stop for a 30-45 min nap in a McDonald's parking lot at around 5am, then we hit the road.

On our way back home, we leave earlier from WDW (6am) and we stop in a hotel for the night around 9h30pm (we're usually half way). We leave the next morning around 5am and get home around 6pm. We always get our hotel room when we stop, no reservations.

Our kids are 4 and 6 now and they've done it for 3 years already. DVD players, PSP, Nintendo DS, MP3, Books, are great and they never complain about the road. We do make stops here and there every 2 hours unless they're asleep.

It's a fun ride.

I've never done it with my family (we have 3 girls). If you do it please let us know how it goes. We visit annually and have flown each time ( sometimes twice a year since 2005). Good luck

We did it twice last year (March and December) and we are getting ready to do it again in a month but we are going to US/IOA this time (onsite ). We leave around 5am and we always stop for the night at midpoint. When going down I95, we stop around Richmond, VA and when we go down using I81 (and the other roads) we usually stop in Roanoke, VA. It depends if we travel during the week or the weekend.
I second the advice for Nintendo DS, PSP, lots of DVDs, books, stuff to draw/play, and LOTS of snacks!
It actually is a fun trip and I look forward to the next one. Never thought that in a million years before we tried it but we can go 3 times for the price of one if we drive vs fly (we have 4 kids... I know)

We will be driving from Gatineau with our triplets in May. They are used to doing 12 hours trip so we will try the 24 hour trip. We leave at 6pm on Friday and drive none stop other then eat and bathroom stops. We will drive about 4 hours each and then switch.

We've done it in the past kids free and it's a nice drive. you get to Orlando tired but it's so much fun.

We estimated tha twe will spend about $500 in gas for our return trip. Much better then over a $1000 flying out of Syracuse

Dh does all the driving since he quickly figured out that the one NOT driving gets to be the server/wait staff. With 4 kids in the car, I can't tell you how often I have to unbuckle and turn around to give out food/drinks, help with books and/or coloring stuff, change DVDs, etc.
Fortunately, the older ones are in the back and pretty much able to do everything themselves but the youngest ones still need attention here and there. Still a fun trip though...

oh I also have window markers for my girls to play with and a cloth for them to wipe it as often as they want. We also intend on giving a little something from the dollar store or similar at every 2 hour of driving.
