My husband and I decided to take a trip to DL in Sept. (5th-13th) We have decided to fly to Las Vegas first for 2 nights (3rd-5th) then take a rental car to Anaheim.

Most of what i have been reading says to aviod taking that trip on a Friday.. So that made our decision to drive on a Saturday. Does this sound right??? What time should we leave LV saturday to avoid any kind of traffic.

Our other option is to fly from LV to LGB. They do have $59 flights for that day on Jet Blue but I feel like I'll be missing out on the scenic drive.. We have never been out this way before (the farthest west we've gone from Pittsburgh was Chicago)

Advice Please!!

Thanks

I live in So. Cal. and have only heard that traffic is bad going to Las Vegas on a Friday... not coming to So. cal from Las Vegas.

That price for JetBlue is great and there is NO scenic view on the drive from Vegas to So. Cal. You would not be missing anything...it is all sand and cactus.

agreed that going from Las Vegas to Anaheim on a Friday should not be a problem.

however, I guess we differ on what is considered "scenic"--for someone that has not really seen the desert it would probably be interesting--and the four and a half hour drive is not that bad.

Having a rental car would also probably make it easier to get to the hotel at DL.

Sorry, didn't mean to step on scenic toes... I guess I have just done that trip too many times. After an hour of seeing the same thing its not scenic anymore (to me).

LOL--having made the trip many many times I don't dispute that--but the OP had indicated she'd never been further west than Chicago--so the "view" actually might be interesting to them!! (Just keep me out of west Texas--it took us what felt like a week to drive across west Texas once!)
