Driving thru Atlanta...

We have never worried about this before because in the past we have always driven thru during the middle of the night ot on the weekends, looks like this time we will hit it during a Friday afternoon. From our house, its about 700 miles, figure 11-12 hours.. We leave at 3:00 AM our time, hit it at 3 or 4 in the afternoon.. wait until 7AM when the kids are getting up, hit it at 7 or 8, but then don't reach our hotel in Cordele until after 10..

Will the traffic be better at 2 PM if we would leave at 2AM?

I believe if you hit it at about 2:00 p.m. you would be fine. If you wait until later say 3:30 or 4:00 you are looking at trouble. Go a bit earlier and be safe.

There is no doubt that our Friday afternoons have thick traffic. The earlier the better.

leave an hour earlier if you can...better to have a cushion, and if delayed still get to your hotel at a decent time, that hitting a ton of traffic, and pushing it to stay awake to get to hotel. Fridays can be pretty tricky as it is, and if you are traveling during spring break range, add yet another hour for a Friday..college kids will be heading for the beaches! HAVE A SAFE TRIP!
