how do you do it? we are planning on driving down to disney in sept. i was just going to stay up all the night before (can't sleep before a trip anyway lol) and my dh was going to drive during the day and i was going to sleep, then i would drive thru the night while he slept. Figure on the way back we would just switch off every so often when the driver felt tired.

how do you do it?

Hi we have done it 2 different ways. First time drove straight through after working all day and that was really hard. Then did it where we drive half 1 day and half the next and that was really good but I was anxious to get there and didn't sleep well anyways. When we drove straight through we left Aurora where I worked and it really didn't get hard until we hit the 7AM mark then I think we where all tired.

I am working this out myself right now and not sure how to do it.

Too bad we weren't leaving at the same time we could convoy....lol

My husband did it in December(I dont drive). We left WDW mid morning and he did the drive home in about 22-23 hours.I am still astounded that he did this(driving through the mountains in the dead of night). But he told me that now he knows he can do this,Florida isnt that far away anymore.

I haven't try it yet. But we are going in August, leaving downtown Toronto after work at 2pm. Meet my DD and pick up the rental, we will take turns driving, switching everytime we fill up for gas. I think going down is ok, comming back might be more difficult. I am still debating if we should cross the border at Detroit and take the famous and straight forward I75 or go through Buffalo, which seems to a shorter route.

Many moons ago, we left home at 2:00am and just kept switching drivers when one got tired (two adults). Took 26 hours down and 24 back.
We now fly! It took us two days to recover the drive in either direction. In 2-1/2 hours you could take off and be happily collecting your luggage in Orlando (take a nap on the plane, have some breakfast and beverages, watch some TV and you're there).

When we drive home we drive straight through. Darren will drive the first leg on the way home which depending on when we leave takes us to atleast Macon sometimes further. I will take over for a couple hours or so then he usually drives the rest of the trip home. HE drives on average about 16 to 18 hours of the drive home with me driving the rest.
