I just convinced DH to go to Disney again... Our last visit (first with kids) was in February 2003. We drove through the Blizzard 2003 down/back up Michigan/Florida. Anyhow... To say the least he wasnt too keen on going again in February. Fast forward to today... I get an email with a code! Great rate $49.00 at POP. I call & ask about other resorts and the CM tells me its for POP or ASSports. I ask about Sports since we have been there (stayed at ASMovies with the kids in 03). The CM checks into *** and says nothings available- I ask about other offers and he tells me PORiverside for $79.00 a night. I tell DH we could stay at a moderate w/better pool (slide) for that price and he says book it! I was geeked and did it! Now. For the past oh-h-h-h 4-5hours Ive been reading & reading & reading some more all about Disney and the resorts- So many different opinions/views. Im thinking we are a hokey family (boys ages 4 & 6yrs) and that POR might not be "fun" enough for us. DH & I swore last time we would stay somewhere with a nicer pool- spend more pool time w/ the kids & less time in the parks. Where to stay? What to do? Any suggestions from you disney fanatics would be greatly appreciated! Should we split it up- Deluxe hotel for a couple of days and then Value the rest? I see many people do that. Is there a reason for that? HELP!!!

Thanks! Newbie but major planner!

I loved PORiverside! I think the kids will have a great time there. For a moderate resort there is alot for kids to do. The pool was a lot of fun, there's the boats, I think you can still rent bikes there (Not sure though, double check)

There are always going to be tons of conflicting opinions on any resort at WDW--we're all human and have our likes and dislikes.
My advice is to stop worrying. Take the $79 rate for the resort and experience it. That's the only way to find out anything.
Enjoy--it meets your criteria of better pool/slide set up and sounds like there are lots of activities.
Now start working on PSs for meals--that will take your mind off the resort.
Have a wonderful time.

I'd go for POR too;) You'll love it!

That being said, if you're still unsure, check out these links to debwills sight - it has pics of the resorts,rooms/ammenities,etc. maybe it will help you decide if you can see in more detail. Before joining DVC we almost always stayed at POR though and loved it! We still go there for weekend trips now and again as well, I think your kids will love it - it's got a great food court and sit down restaraunt as well!

Check out this link though::yes::

POR is definitely fun for the kids, but if you want a cool slide go for the POFQ. The serpent slide is cool and they have these water spouting from the alligators! OTOH, POR has a cute little fishing hole and Old Man Island pool is cute too.

The best pool of course is Stormalong Bay but in lieu of SAB, the moderates definitely have nice pools.
