This trip was planned Last Fall when during our return from visiting my Sister and Aunt and Uncle on Cape Card. When we got to Mystic Lucille learned that TOBY and her back up singer Sir Rod Stewart would be at Mohegan Sun just 20 minutes away, this past Friday July 25th. I told her to get the tickets for her Birthday and went to the Office to make the reservations.
Sky and Katie loved this CG as I would book one of the sites directly across the road from the dog park. Unfortunately, only Sky would make this trip with us. Katie's dysplasia and arthritis had crippled her to the point where she needed, her Help Em Up Harness round the clock. In early June as much as it still breaks my heart, we said our final goodbyes. Three weeks later, both Lucille and I couldn't adjust to her absence. Sky looked for her but enjoyed the added attention from me. Lucille wanted me to check out some pictures from a local shelter. I knew what we were going to do. I called and asked if we could come and check out the pups they had. We all got in the car and headed up. We came home with the only one that Skyy co didn't growl at when they came near her. Say Hello to Miss Dazie1000003856.jpg1000003815.jpg1000003848.jpg
For the most part, as the pic of them looking out the window shows, she and Sky get along. But don't let her cuteness fool you. She a cold-blooded SAC Trained Killer.1000003830 (1).jpg1000003838 (1).jpg
She decapitated Poor Lambchop shortly after this photo was taken. Mr. Quackers is subject torture sessions at all hours of the day and night. When these poor unfortunate individuals and some others are being victimized by her savagery, Sky lets her displeasure known and I need to step in and exercise what little influence I have.

During the month between when Miss Dazie adopted us and her first time adventuring, we did some work to help her adjust to us. I spend some time everyday working on the basics with LIMITED SUCCESS. She is somewhat stubborn and without treats her willingness to listen is hit or miss most days. She did do well on her first Doctor visit. Everyone had to come see her and I ended up on the naughty list for not making the appointment on a day some of the staff is off. Her fat little behind weighed in at 30lbs, twice what she did when we brought her home.
The get accustomed to the RV trips are something she was reluctant to engage in. Mostly as we go thru a door she rarely goes out thru and she still doesn't care for her leash.

When our travel day came, she wasn't too cooperative. Going out to the RV I had to carry her in. We think the sound of the generator put her off. Happily, once I started down the driveway, she was fine and settled down. When I stopped to fill the gas tank, I was glad I had the keys as she took over the driver's seat. At each of the rest stops we hit, she was happy to get out and come back in after a walk around. Despite the 4 hour trip in the State of Connecticut she just laid THERE IN FRONT OF THE Doggy Window , mooning everyone.
After we got to the CG and basic set up was done it was off to the Dog Park. She figured out very quickly this was somewhere she wanted to go to. She also learned that if she barked at the gate that prevents them from accessing the door she got to go out and to the dog park. She even made friends with others while there and one family made sure we saw them going with their puppy so they could play and get rid of the zoomies together. Of course everyone going to the Comfort Station had to be told to stay away or suffer her wrath and have to provide endless belly rubs.

Mike, good luck to you and Lucille getting your new pet Miss Dazie integrated into the household rhythm (which includes, as you said, going on the road in the RV).

She's a cutie. :dog:

Ed, I have to say thank you not just on a personal level for your kind words about Dazie but for sending her from Huntsville to us

Friday was concert day. Before we could enjoy the show, we had things to do. First up was take care of the Girls. First both need to visit the dog park then Sky needed her morning meds and Daizie Doo her breakfast. With those issues taken care of Dazie needed a second trip across the road. She surprised me by wanting to go exploring the CG. That adventure didn't last too long. Once we went more than 5 or 6 sites away, she wanted to turn around and get back. Then it was time to call our vet. Before we went, she had her initial visit to Dr Sandy and got a clean bill of health. I saw something that concerned me despite what the initial testing said. Arrangements for when we got home were made. I was now free to address the problem with Lucille's car that we flat tow. A quick trip to Groton and the Auto Zone and I had what I needed in case her Battery died again.
The remainer of the day was spent hanging around the site to be ready to take the girls for Dog Park visits as needed. I did hit the office to take care of some administrative issues that our late arrival required. I also checked out the lending library as I found I had inadvertently left the book I am currently reading at home. To my amazement someone had donated one of the best books about the German POW Camp , COLDITZ CASTLE, I have read.
During an afternoon visit to the DP I broke out the KONG BINKIE we got her, so she did work off some energy.

Friday night at the concert we had the best seats we have ever had for any show. The seats were just 6 seats away from the left edge of the stage. As usual Toby was fantastic. Her skill on the Violin and Mandolin are remarkable. She also did an excellent job on Rhythm Guitar for several songs. She still needs some work when she does some dance numbers, as she is not comfortable doing them.

Saturday we were supposed to meet up with my cousin and his wife for lunch and shopping in the OLD MYSTIC VILLAGE complex. But between when we made our reservations and then, they got tickets for that night to see Jerry Seinfeld.
Hence, I got to spend some quality time with a very good book, extra time in the dog park, played 18 holes of mini golf and enjoyed the pool. The pool is one of the most kid friendly I have seen. Going from 1 to 3 feet, with a nice splash canopy inside it.
Chow was some steaks and Micky baked potatoes we intended to have the previous night, but time constraints, thanks to the girls, reduced us to Burgers and Dogs

@FtW Mike How were your I-95 CT drives this trip? Same, better, worse (if that is possible)? My last trip from Cape Cod back to home had to divert off 95 up to Hartford and back down via I-84 due to accident on 95 shutting it down. At least that was a reason (vs. the usual ton of traffic and back ups "just because").

Jimmy, trip from NYS Border to Sun Resort Mystic is about 100 miles. We crossed into Ct. at about 1:30pm and arrive at the CG at just shy of 6:00pm. We had to stop once for potty break for us and the dogs, about 15 Min. My impression that for the first 55 miles where 95 is 3 lanes, as well as around New London and Groton , are the phantom road problems live. Slowing you down to 20mph, or less.
