Driving from wisconsin

Anyone Driven from wisconsin? HOw long of a drive is it? If we were to stop half way down where would be about half way?

We drove from Wausau last year and we are planning on doing it again soon. Half way is around Nashville for us, but we usually push to get to Georgia. That way it is not 2, 10+ hour days. We get on the raod by 3am drive until 8am get breakfast, turn a DVD on, and switch drivers. By 6-7 pm we get to Dalton Georgia.

Check out web sites like Freetrip.com, or AAA. Free trip is good but it only does city to city directions, but it does give you a good estimate on time. Just type in Lake Buena Vista for the ending city and it will get you with in 5 miles of WDW.

From Janesville it would be just about 22 hours and Nashville is just about half way.

We drove from Ashland, Wi. It took us 29 hours. We stopped the first night in Nashville, slept for 6 hours and then hit the road again. Drove 16 hours first day--and then 13 the second.
It wasn't bad at all, doing it again this December.
Because we are pulling our TT this time and not sure about Dec. weather we are giving ourselves one extra day to drive.

I've drivin from Kenosha, Wisconsin 3 times. We usually try to drive straight through, but usually end up stopping at a rest stop in chattanooga for a couple hours.

We always left after work (because we wanted to get there as soon as we could!) and we didn't wan to wait until the next day. But this next time we will be leaving around 4 or 5 in the morning, so that most of our driving will be during the day. It's hard to drive all night long!!!

I would MUCH rather drive than fly, it's so much fun to go to and see different parts of the united states. I love drivng throughthe smokeys!

We drive from the Milwaukee area and it is 20 hours. We always stop near Atlanta to visit relatives. So we drive about 12 hours the first day and then it is only 8 hours the next. Have fun!

thanks this is so much help with you reponding from my area. if anyone has any dos and don'ts i would love them. my kids are older though but i still am toying with the idea of staying at the cornado because then the kids can come and go as they please if we stay off site then they can't. any comments

We drive from Holland, MI (across the lake!) and we make it in two days, about 22 or so hours. We try to get into Georgia, but have found it too busy and big to stay around Atlanta so are going to stay in Dalton, GA this November. (Country Inn). We just had a DVD installed in our van as it is a long ride and we don't stop much along the way. Good luck on your trip.

so it seems that dalton Ga is the city to stop in huh. well we are talking about driving all the way through but will have to play it by ear on that one. so now my big deceison on where to stay and if we should take the air mattress and sneak in the extra kid.

Hi Bobi,

We're from Chicago (close enough, eh?) and we drove down to WDW once before. We stopped in Nashville on the way there, and Chattanooga on the way home. I'll tell you that the Chattanooga area has some great war sites to check out if you have the time to site-see on your journey. We won't have that much time this upcoming trip because the kids will have to get back to school the morning after we arrive home (so we need to get home in the early evening).

We have 4 children going this trip and we were toying with the idea of renting a 4 bedroom house with 3 bathrooms and a pool. But then we thought that the teens would really like to come and go on their own alot at the parks so we decided to stay onsite at the Fort Wilderness cabins. We got a great rate with the new code that just came out so it's not costing alot at all. Also, the cabins have a full kitchen so we can eat breakfasts in the morning and save money that way.
