Driving from Long Island NY

We are thinking of driving to WDW when we go in June. Right now if we drive it looks like we won't be able to leave LI till noon on a Thursday.
What do you think would be a good place to stop for the night?

What is a good place to stop on the way home?

Noon on a Thursday is going to be tough. YOu will be going through DC during the latter half of rush hour. I wouldn't expect to get much past the end of VA beginning of NC on the first day.

If you can try to make it to NC as hotels are a bit cheaper in NC than VA.

My experience....

Don't leave at noon. Wait until after 5 pm. You won't hit regular NY traffic/NJ traffic and you will miss the D.C. traffic. i-95 is SOOOO busy.

We usually drive straight thru from NY but have stayed a few times in GA just off the highway at La Quinta's and Holiday Inn Express hotels.
