we will have our own car :drive: We are staying at WLV's for two weeks from Dec 20th - Jan 3rd. We will be going to Discovery Cove on NY EVE and wondering if getting back to our resort around 5 pm will be crazy and long wait in traffic. any info greatly appreciated. TIA Brenda

traffic in the area between the holidays is nuts!!!!! give your self plenty of time. dd would give her self three hours (a 15 min. drive) to get to work in the mk during the holidays.

Be patient. We were at SW and Universal from 22 Dec to 31 December last year. I am so happy my DH has more patience than me. That traffic is nasty. Always give yourself more time than you think to get where you are going.

Have a great trip. We enjoyed visiting Florida for the holidays.

The line of cars to get back through MK main entrance to VWL could potentially be very long. Here's what I would suggest take the back way past Ft. Wilderness.

I can't give you directions from Discovery Cove but what you should do it get yourself to Bonnet Creek Parkway. You can pick up BC Parkway from Buena Vista Drive. Look for the signs that say Old Key West, Port Orleans Riverside & French Quarter resorts. All of those resorts are off Bonnet Creek Pkwy.

Follow BC Pkwy past Port Orleans French Quarter & Riverside (they'll be on your right). You will also pass Best Friends Pet Resort (on the left)

Follow BC Pkwy until it ends at a traffic light You'll see Golden Oaks straight ahead of you. You have no choice but to turn left or right here. Turn left onto Vista Blvd.

Follow Vista Blvd past Ft. Wilderness Campground (on the right). Vista Blvd ends/merges at World Drive just past the main entrance to MK. You'll have no choice but to merge right onto World Drive. At this point you should recognize where you are. Turn right at the next traffic light onto Timberline Drive & voila you're home at VWL & avoided all the traffic!

We take this route all the time. It's easy & saves time. We'll also be at VWL from 12/20-29. No place else I'd rather be over Christmas. Enjoy your trip!

Thank so much
my DH says he knows that route we will make sure to use it.

We stay in Reunion Resort and drive to SeaWorld Xmas week often. I4 is INSANE that time of year, and the back ways are just as crammed and have more lights and merge points. Reunion to SeaWorld, we just did on April 16 and the drive was 21 minutes door to door. Did that same trek at Xmas week and it took us 1 hour and 20 min.
