Drive time Miami to Port

Can anyone give me an estimate of how long it will take to drive from Miami to the Port? Should I do it the day of the cruise or the day before?

I've driven the distance in the other direction and it took us about 4 to 5 hours. I wouldn't dare to drive such a long distance before the cruise. On large congestion, one flat tyre and you may miss the ship. I'd depart a day early and spend a night at the Radisson or a similar place near the Port.

I live in Ft.Lauderdale - so I take the Sawgrass to Turnpike then cut over to I95 it takes about 3 hours. I usually go the night
before and stay at the Radisson. Next cruise I have to drive
up that AM since I am taking the 3 day first then the 4 day, so I have to work all day Wed.
