My first and only drive in movie was Planet of the Apes...the first one! What fun that was being there with my favorite sis, sharing a bucket of popcorn and a huge soda! I had on my pajamas and slippers and my blanket and pillow in the back seat just in case I didn't make it! I did!! It was the only drive in movie I went to and sadly it closed a couple years later.
Yep, we have NO mosquitos!!!!! Of course, we went camping last week out of state and thought our kids would be eaten alive as they have never SEEN these things and were apparently the best fresh blood around!
We don't have bugs because our entire area economy is dependent on fruit. The few orchards left are sprayed and all the incoming fruit that is processed here is treated. Bugs don't stand a chance in our town!!!! Yippeeee!!!
Drive-ins are a thing of the past here... all gone, but gosh they were good..
I can remember going with my parents when I was young and more often than not, my brother and I would end up falling asleep before the end.. but now we don't have any anymore..
No we went to the one in Lunenburg
which I am sad to here is doomed to be turned into apartments and condos at the end of the year -
this will be the last year for it!
I am glad my kids got a chance to go...
here is a picture of my kids and my friends kids before the movies started and they were getting settled...
LOVE the stow and go - they later switched half the back seat to stadium seating....
We have them around, but I prefer the comfort of the theater. (I actually MUCH prefer DVDs in our home theater room the most!!) I don't enjoy the bugs, hot car, or fogged up windows.
There is one near me, but I have only been once. I have 2 friends that work there, though. And they are both in band, so they won't be working for like 3 weeks due to band camp. LOL.
I went a lot when I was a child and love it. We have one about 20 miles from where I live and we actually tried to go last weekend but to our suprised it was FULL they allow you to park outside and walk in and that was full also. They were playing POC and Cars. We will try again maybe this weekend.
The one around here closed down about 10 years ago, replaced by a Multiplex and BJs. The last movie we saw at the drive in was Airforce One. The first movie I can remember seeing is Goldfinger. Strange, both villians were sucked out of the plane.
