I didn't want to hijack LibertyBelle's post on what people do and don't refrigerate but it was mentioned that someone's child drinks vinegar. Someone else warned against drinking too much vinegar.

So my question after Googling "Drinking Vinegar" is how many people here drink vinegar for their health?

Does it help acid reflux?
Does it help with weight loss/control?
Does it lower chlosterol?
Does it help with sinus problems?

Do you drink a stright spoonful or mix it with water and honey?

I've read some of the threads from Googling but I trust the DIS people more than "strangers" ok....at least people that could be stranger than a bunch of Disney nuts. ;)

I used to drink it as a kid because I like the taste, that and pickle brine. Every once in a while I still do but only small amounts. I think unless you have Candida there's nothing wrong with drinking it. It actually really helps with a sore throat. If you mix it with warm water and a little salt and gargle it it makes a sore throat feel better. It doesn't feel that great when you're gargling it but it really helps.

LOL.. ok my family thinks I am so very odd.... well they think that alot anyway..but I love dill pickle juice.. and spanish olive juice!! I drink it straight from the bottle... cold is better than warm tho.

salt and vinegar.. mmmm good!

sorry I can not answer any of your other questions.

My husband does, but not in large amounts. Just a couple of spoons full, and he uses unfiltered vinegar with the "mother." It is something about acid reflux and flushing of toxins, I think. I dunno, I don't touch the stuff. When I was a kid in the 70s my mother's room mate used to give us a concoction of vinegar, lemon juice, and honey for our health. I hate vinegar to this day. :rotfl2:

I read about "the mother" too. :confused3 But most said regular Heinz Vinegar is what they drink mixed with water and honey.

My mother had us gargle with warm water + honey & vinegar. It really seemed to help a sore throat.

Pickle juice has always help me with muscle cramps. It's good with Cheetos, too! :thumbsup2

Well, I guess I'm the one who inspired this! ;)

My 16 year old has always liked vinegar - he'll drink the white, but really likes the more gourmet red wine type. He literally pours it into a small wine glass (okay, it's not a wine glass, but I don't know the name for the little ones). He also uses it on EVERYTHING he eats nearly. Pasta? He'll only eat it floating in vinegar. Pizza? Pours it all over each piece. Bread/garlic bread/rolls - he dips them into a small bowl of it.

Any time I've asked a doctor about it at a check up, they've always been like "Oh, vinegar is good for you". :confused3 I have to wonder if his body somehow needs it or lacks something. Incidentally, it totally grosses his girlfriend out! :rotfl: I don't know about weight loss, but he is 6'2" and barely 140 pounds yet!

I personally drink pickle juice as mentioned above to settle a stomach or if I'm just in the mood for something salty but not really hungry. But a couple ounces at most - not a glass of it! And I LOVE the Spanish olive juice. I usually end up eating a few of the olives, drinking the rest of the juice over the next couple days, and then throwing the rest of the olives away because there's no juice left for them to sit in!

:lmao: I just bought Cheetos last night, DS picked the crunchy ones! Not sure I want to eat them with pickle juice though......

Interesting....what is the deal with Candida?

I've heard it's not good because vinegar is fermented and doesn't react well with yeast.

Maybe that's really why I don't like it. Maybe my body knows better (I have Candida).
