Drinking Around the World

Know your limits; don't overdue it. If it means a drink in every other country, so be it. if it means doing it twice, so be it. Don't be obsessed with getting something in every country more than you are with getting things you want. if it means skipping Japan because you don't want sake or plum wine; then skip it.

And I agree..Tipsy Ducks in Love is BY FAR my favorite (non beer) drink anywhere at WDW.

You can do like some said and get a drink at every other country or skip a country, but I personally don't consider that fully drinking around the world.

Agreed! If you haven't had at least one drink in every country, you did not drink around the world. However, drinking around the world is a "you do you" activity, so whatever makes you happiest is how you should do it.

DRINKS CAN ONLY BE CONSUMED WHEN SITTING DOWN!

I can see how this would help with pacing the drinks (more time between the end of one drink and the arrival at the next pavilion for the next drink) but to me it takes away part of the fun: drinking while walking around outside in public. You don't get to do that much if you don't live in New Orleans or Las Vegas.

the carbs will absorb alcohol and help you sober up faster.

This is not quite right. The food simply slows down the absorption of the alcohol, so it's not that you "sober up faster" but rather that you get drunk slower. That is still a good and important thing, but you shouldn't go in thinking that eating food means you are free to consume more alcohol. Once you swallow it, there are only two ways to get it out of your system and get sober: let your liver do its job, or throw it back up before your body absorbs it.

Okay, curious - how much do the drinks cost?! I'm thinking it could get pretty pricy trying to drink you way around the world?

Depends what you want to drink. But typically about $8-$10 per drink. Set aside about $120 per person and you should be good

Ya all these are great suggestions, BUT, you are all forgetting the most important thing.

WAIT as long as you can before your first bathroom break.:drinking1 If you go early you will be peeing around the world too. Especially if your all drinking as much water as you say you are. Once those pipes are open its like the water fall in Canada, it never shuts off. So know where those stops are and plan accordingly.

LOL. We won't be doing it, but I was just curious. I'd be far more interested in snacking my way around the world!

Make some shirts that say "KEEP CALM AND HELP THEM GET TO CANADA"
!lol:)

I saw 3 young ladies with these shirst on-they were just in Japan-didn't look like they were going to make Canada!lol:)

Last time my family went to WDW the kids and I did Snack Around the World, which was actually kind of difficult because of my PA child. We managed to have fun though

I like the tip about getting a Passport! My kids are grown, and that sounds like a fun souvenir!

Another tip, if you're curious and want a comprehensive look - Josh at http://www.easywdw.com/adults/drink-around-the-world-at-epcot-world-showcase-disney-world/#more-873 Has put together pictures and tips together for drinking around the world!

One of his tips if you go with a group, be aware of how much a bottle costs vs a shot/glass... for instance in Italy I love the "pink" 'champagne' - i.e. Rosa Regale (has the smell and taste of berries!) It used to cost $10 a glass, and you could buy a bottle for $20! You are asked when you purchase alcohol to pick it up at the gate, we usually stay at BC so we have been able to take it with us, but its been a few years since we've gone - things could've changed!

Hi, Everyone --

What's the best way to drink around World Showcase without getting totally obliterated? I know I've seen things on this before, but haven't been able to find anything.

Moderators -- I wasn't sure which forum this should go in, so please feel free to move if necessary.

Thanks!! :drinking:
Take your time: I would start mid-afternoon.
Eat: I usually get a snack at every other pavilion.
Hydrate: At least as much water as alcohol. Not sure when you're going, but the first time I tried this was in June. Didn't hydrate. Didn't make it very far.
Be responsible: please make sure you have Disney transportation or a cab available when you've completed your tour.

I love these threads. I enjoy both eating and drinking around the world. The keep calm and help get them to Canada shirts - that is a really great idea for a shirt. Under the definition of having an alcoholic drink at every country, I have yet to make it. Like life, it's the journey, not the destination that matters. I have however made it in eating around the world.

I promise to continue to try my best to one day make it drinking around the world. After all, Mickey is my designated driver, so I couldn't be in better hands.

I have seen a few over indulge, but nobody too bad. There was the one who was shushing around one of the walkways pretending to be Iron Man and "flying" and using the shushing repulsers in his hands to fire at people. Of course, when he fired the sound was "pew . . pew", not shush. My DD(13 at the time) found it extremely amusing as she watched him "flying" around. She also noted that she will never get drunk. (I'm sure we'll have the talk again, many times). He never got close to anybody, and was never a threat of any kind. But, he was obviously having a good time pretending to be Iron Man, and 10 years old again.

I suggest doing the Monorail Crawl as a warm up and see how you fare. The Wave or Outer Rim at CR, lounge at Ohana's at the Poly, lobby lounge behind the bandstand at GF. If you still feel up to it, you can take a launch to WL when you get back to the CR (or MK) and hit the Territory Lounge. This is also fun. But go early or later, not at dinner time!

There is an app called beers and ears. It is a list of the beers in Disney World.

The grand majority of these tips are amazing. I definitely echo eating before, during, and after this venture, and definitely not on a ridiculously hot day. If it's over 90 on your EPCOT day, wait til the sun begins to set.

I also don't care to mix my alcohols. We spend a lot of time in the WS, if I start with a beer, I drink beer in every country. If I drink mixed drinks, I don't drink beer. For some reason if I try to do both I'm queasy after 3 stops.
