Drinking around the world? Help please

For the person who says go to a bar outside WDW....you're just not gettign it, are you????

We do drink around the world. Sometimes we do it in a day...a long day to spread ouit the drinks so as not to be totally ossified. Sometimes we do it in the course of our entire vacation. We tend to go in and out of Epcot a lot...one of my favorite things is strolling there at night...so our chances of being in Epcot more than once in a given vacation are pretty high.

You can definitely make you own cards/passport kind of things to check everything off, or like, have a little book where you can put a wallet sized picture of the drink beside the country's page.

It will cost about $10.00 per country, meaning it will cost around $100.00 to drink all the way around the world, and the drinks are strong (if you go for the mixed drinks). I haven't seen any sample sizes (except during the food & wine festival) So I would definitely suggest sharing drinks.

I also suggest getting a drink, and really slowly going through the country, sometimes you finish a country and you're not even near being done the drink, so take your time, maybe even sit and people watch a bit in each country (or if you're doing it later, you have time to watch the entertainment per country)

As for drinks themselves:
-The Grand Marnier Slush in France (obviously)
-Fiesta Margarita in Mexico
-Welsh Dragon in UK

The friendship boats make it easy to just do half one night and half the next. Much more leisurely pace. Start in Mexico and go around to the American pavilion, take the boat back. Then the next night take the boat over, and work you way through France, Canada and UK. Twice the fun and I refuse to share my drinks! :joker:pirate::cool1:.

and forget the fiesta marguarita in Mexico....Get the Jalepeno or Avacado from the cave.

my friends and i have done this many times. we will be doing it again in feb. we choose do do it on an emh night so it gives us plenty of time to finish and its not sooo hot. everyone puts 100$ into "the pot" and one person is the money holder. whatever is left over gets split equally. (its usually only a few dollars tho) they have drinking around the world shirts at cafepress.com that we all have. have fun!:drinking1

We are going to Disney in September and attempt to Drink Around the World for the first time for my birthday. I plan on taking a picture of each drink and server as a souvenir.

Take it from someone with experience, do NOT attempt this duringg F&W. Eleven countries are much easier than 40+

Posted from Disboards.com App for Android

The way I put it a few years ago... to kinda help explain it to some people more familiar with video game difficulty level explanations:

Novice Mode: Beer or Wine only in each country
Normal Mode: Mixing Beer, Wine, and 'liquor' drinks around the world
Hard Mode: Exclusively Liquor drinks around the World
God Mode: Hitting every country and booth during F&W

Just my 2 cents, and I am not referring to the folks who are enjoying a drink or two while touring the parks...

I love to enjoy a cocktail(s), but for the life of me, why would anyone pay park admission, and then pay for overpriced drinks while "drinking around the world"? Why not just find a bar outside of the parks, and get liquored up until last call?

For starters, For many people drinking around the world, the object isn't to get 'liquored up'. Much cheaper to do that at home or a regular bar.

Beyond that, As others have said, it's the experience. It's the chance to try native drinks [for some countries] that you can't usually get at a local bar or pub. To have a much greater selection of regional drinks in one location than you are likely to find anywhere outside of Disney (You aren't going to find places with as many tequila options, Sake Options, and French, German, and Italian wines in one location as you will at the World Showcase.) You can also sometimes learn more about the history of the beverages or traditions of them while sampling the local flavors than you can in most places outside the World Showcase.

i wanna attempt to drink around the world, hopefully i can make it :P if not, probably eat/drink around the world :)

i drank around the world in 2007 all by myself. i had no trouble whatsoever drinking 11 drinks in the 10 hours or so we were there. are you kidding? that's basically 1 drink an hour; that is nothing! :cool1: and we still managed to go on all the rides and see the shows. unfortunately, i didn't know anything about a passport at that time. i just took pictures of each drink, and yes i remembered every drink! :rotfl: because i did spread the drinking out for the whole day, i never actually even got a buzz, but that's not why i was drinking around the world anyway. i am going back to epcot for f&w in october and will be attempting to drink around the world again. since there are more countries/kiosks (29 i think), i will probably share with my fiance this time (and he has even higher tolerance than i do! ;)).

ok, back to some of your questions. it cost about $100 to drink around the world in 2007. that's about $10 a drink. some of the mixed drinks were a little more than $10, while most of the beers were under $10. i also did shots at a few countries. that $100 is just for drinks. i didn't eat much during our jaunt, but i probably spent another $15-$20 on food (crepes were the most expensive food item i bought).

the size of the drinks varied depending on the type of drink. i would say the beers were no bigger than 12 oz. the shots were of course 1-2 oz. the mixed drink is where it varied. i had a drink in paris that was probably about 6 ounces??? the saki drinks were closer to 3-4 oz. since you're going with people and aren't sure how much you can handle, i would just share with your aunts/uncles/cousins.

keep in mind this was 5 years ago, so i have no idea how much has changed in that time. as some people already said, google search "drinking around the world," and you'll get a lot of good ideas. you can always make your own passport book to save money. i don't see why the CMs wouldn't sign/stamp a homemade one. :confused3

good luck!! :thumbsup2

We did this in 2/2011 and plan on doing it in 11/2012.

To pace ourselves we did Kim Possible missions in the Countries where they had them. I found this spaced things out nicely as we would do the order the drink, do the mission and then look around at the pavillion to see what we missed.

The intent in Nov. is to do the Agent P missions while drinking.

I fully agree with the poster who mentioned the Avacado drink in the tequila cave, it was very yummy!

DH and I share our drinks around the world. that way we can try more!

We've done the Normal Mode. . .cake, we're both experienced sailors who have visited many, MANY foreign ports of call in our travels.

God mode, good luck. My wife just nixed my highlighting of the tequila flight in the Mexico kiosk for this years F&W. Interestingly enough, she highlighted more drinks than I did.

For the same reasons that you can get chased by a bull at home by yourself, but if you do it in Pamplona with a few hundred other people, you've got a memory. & for also the same reason that The Bandit, Snowman & Fred drove all the way to Texarkana, Texas for 400 cases of Coors only to be chased all of the way back by a Smoky... Because they were doing what was said could not be done.

Uh, that many drinks and you are not going to have a memory. Just a hangover.

I'm pretty much a lightweight, and even I can handle a drink an hour. Especially if I'm snacking and drinking plenty of water as well.

Absolutely untrue. No one is suggesting pounding drinks while literally jogging to the next country. If you start at 11am when WS opens & stay until Illuminations, that's about one drink per hour. Most people won't even be buzzed at that pace, especially with a couple of meals in there. Many posters on the thread have even suggested sharing drinks or spreading it over more than one day.

I realize that this isn't for everyone, but the insistence that it must lead to staggering, puking, blackout drunks is simply a fallacy.

It took 12 posts, but better late then never. Why do these people even enter threads like this other than just to troll????
I'm a troll just because I ask a question/state an opinion on drinking around the world? :confused3

When someone asks how best to go about something and your only comment basically amounts to, "That's stupid. Why would you want to do something like that?" it isn't hard to imagine that people would find it irritating. Maybe you didn't meant it that way, but that's definitely how it came off.

For all those taking pictures you may want to take a look at a neat app for the iPhone. It's called "Drink & Eat around the World at Epcot", and cost's just $1.99! :)

That's awesome, thanks :)
I plan on taking a picture of each drink so this app is perfect!!!!

Yes (Internet 'trolling' is the anti-social act of causing of interpersonal conflict and shock-value controversy online.)

It was pretty obvious by the thread title, and the 11 previous posts before yours, this thread was to discuss and embrace drinking around the world. To enter it with the sole purpose to basically bash it is pretty much exactly what trolling is.
