Traveling with an 18 year old and 21 year old? Just want to know the drinking age and how strict is Disney? Can they go to the night clubs at 18? (even if they don't drink???)

Drinking age is 21 and they are very strict about it.
Can't help you with the clubs question.

18 is the magic age for clubs and adults areas. Disney follows US laws for drinking age, and it is 21. And the policies seem to be well enforced. A server can tell just by looking at your card that you are, or are not, 21. A funny story....I have been aboard the Magic with my daughter several times, both before and after the magic age. One cruise we were in one of the clubs, and I happened to have three KTTW cards in my pocket. We (I) ordered alcoholic drink, and whipped out my card to sign for it. The server flirted a bit, beating about the bush, trying to decide how to handle the fact that the sweet little lady was NOT 21....I had hauled out Meg's card by mistake. So they do look for the age.

When we cruised on the original 4-day Magic, when she was 18, she could drink while we were in Nassau.

I'd like to point out that your liver is still your liver regardless of whether you're in the US or in another country. As we age, our bodies process alcohol differently and we are able to better tolerate it -- it still does damage, but at a significantly lesser rate. Please protect those 18 year olds from "what everyone's doing". Yes, a few drinks CAN hurt. If my father had grown up in America, and if he hadn't been allowed to drink from a young age, he might not have died of alcohol-related diseases at 40.

No offense intended to anyone, but this is a subject about which I am passionate.

I have to disagree about them being strict about the drinking age as I saw my friends 2 sons aged 19 and 20 both being served without a look at any ID!! This happened more than once on our 2003 cruise.....I don't agree with with it but their parents did not seem to have a problem with it.

They may not have asked your friends' kids for IDs because the friend (adult) was there to "vouch."

I went on my first DC when I was 20, just a few months shy of turning 21. The age of the cruiser is programmed into the KTTWC, so as soon as it's used, the server knows that the person is not 21. I was able to get a Bahama Mama (I wanted to try a real one) onboard only through the assitance of my mother's purchase. DCL is VERY strict about underage drinking onboard.

Once in the Bahamas, though, I was allowed to drink. Didn't, though. I bought a bottle of alcohol solely for the novelty of buying it under USA's legal age.

We sailed with friends last fall...my friend's son is 18 and was very excited about being able to drinklegally in Nassau. He and his mom bought a bottle of beer, put it in a brown paper bag, and walking around town drinking it! I didn't witness this, but it makes me laugh every time I picture them walking around with a brown bag like that. He was not allowed to drink on the ship, although he did sneak a couple of sips of his mom's and dad's wine in Palo.

During my past three cruises on the Disney Magic I have been carded for alcohol at least once on each voyage. This happened in the bars, later in the evenings and each time they asked to see both my KTTW card and my drivers license. (I was 27 and 28 on these cruises.)

From my observations, they do check IDs.

At age 18 and older they are not kids anymore. They are adults and should be responsible for themselves. Could they get MIP'S onboard? Do they police the ship? If they get served could the waiter get fined for serving underaged people? Could Disney lose thier license? Just wondering I don't know.

Hey ThreeCircles, you're not complaining about them asking to see your ID even though you're 28, are you?

Wait until no one asks for it any longer. And even worse, when you're 46, (like me) some smart-aleck 20-something cashier in the liqour store jokingly says 'do you have an ID mam?' and then laughs! (Cause I'm so obviously over the hill.):jumping1:
