drink refills at CS restaurants

I have several questions about drinks. Do they give free drink refills at CS places? If not, is there a reduced price for refills or do you just have to buy a new drink? And finally, do you have to get in the regular line for refills or is there a different place where you can just walk up and ask for one? Can you tell this is a big deal to me? :rotfl: I always drink a lot with my meals, and I want to know what to expect. I know they give free water at CS places, so I could always order that up front when I order our food if I think I'll need an extra drink. TIA for your help with these questions.

We were there June 2-10 and I believe you cannot get drink refills free unless it is at a food court where the refill stations are out in the open and you fill your own (such as All Star, Pop Century, etc.). However, each restaurant had different rules we found out, so I guess you just need to ask. At almost all CS we were allowed large drinks on the DDP; but at Animal Kingdom we were not allowed larges. At Typhoon Lagoon we were told to order large drinks. At Toy Story Pizza Planet the CM changed all our drink orders to large even though my kids didn't and couldn't drink a large.

I believe I read a thread that said that refills were being given for drinks with children's meals.

I have noticed that at Sunshine Seasons the beverage stations are fill your own but when I inquired about 'free refills' I was told 'No". I saw many doing so though.

There would be little to stop folks from ordering one drink and sharing if you could get your own refills.

Have you not always gotten free refills with ANY TS meal??

I was interested in the free drink refills as I often get a child's meal and wondered how that would work for an adult.

In The Electric Umbrella in Epcot, the drink station is outside the area you pay for food,so you can get all the refills you want.

Do you happen to know if that is something they are testing there and if it works out, they would make all drink stations like that in the parks where we can get them ourselves and we can get refills ourselves without having to purchase a new drink?

yngsj, since I could not get your link to work I am assuming that you were right that the free refills for children's meals are only at TS?? That would be odd as I cannot remember any time that our kids did not get refills when we did. Thanks for taking the time and trouble. It is much appreciated.

mickaholic4077, not that I would do this as I am sticker for following rules, almost all of them anyway, :) but would it not be possible for someone to buy a drink somewhere else and just walk up to the EU and refill??

They have a park here in Indiana where all drinks are included in the admission fee. They used to have free sunscreen too.

CR Resort Fan,I am not sure about whether or not it is a test to see if it works.

Slightly Goofy, yes,it is possible for people to walk up to the drink stations and fill their cups from another place,or refillable mugs,or water bottles, whatever you might have.

(Disclaimer):I haven't been to Epcot in July,so I don't know if the Electric Umbrella still has the drink stations outside the area where you pay.

The EU self service drink stations are still there. When you buy a drink they give you the cup., the cups are smaller, but cost the same than any CS that has full service drinks.
If you took a large drink cup you got from another CS restaurant and used it, they would be able to tell, since they don't have that super large cup there. I don't think they would say anything to you though. THere isn't anyone there watching you.

I don't know why they did it, but I do think it is nice and there is a large selection as there is an apple juice there as well.

I had a lady, who happened to be holding a refillable mug, angrily glare at me last week when I went up for a second round of soda with my regular cup during lunch at Capt. Cook's at the Poly. I looked at her as if to say "What?" and she looked away, but moments later said to her husband, in a voice loud enough for me to hear, "They're not supposed to do that without a refillable mug!!" He looked over at me, chuckled and told her to relax. I shrugged at him, smiled and finished my meal. I still have no idea if what I did was allowed or not? :confused3

You get free refills with adult drinks at table service. My husband ordered the blueberry Sprite at the Sci-Fi and tried to nurse his drink because he didn't think he's get a free refill. Actually, he ended up having to tell the server that he had had enough after he was offered a third free refill! I ordered the cherry Sprite at 50s Prime Time and it came in a souvenir sippy type plastic cup but with a flexible permanent straw. I figure no refills on that one either. I not only got a refill but the server came out when we were getting ready to leave and topped off the Sprite in the glass so I would have "one for the road". At Yacht Club Galley, I ordered a red, white, and blue Sprite and was freely given refills through the whole meal (three refills in all).

EU does still have free refills.

The Sunshine Seasons food court in the Land pavilion does have fill your own drink stations, but they are behind the registers, so it's best to ask before taking a refill without paying.

None of the other CS places in the parks have free refills, at least not that I can think of, and they aren't fill your own.

There are no special lines or prices for refills. You just get back in line and buy another soda.

I still have no idea if what I did was allowed or not?
I'm not familiar with the setup at Captain Cook's. Are the soda machines behind the registers or out front? If they're out front in this day and age, that usually means free refills on that trip, as long as there is no sign saying otherwise. If they are behind the registers, it's usually best to ask.

Either way, that lady's husband was right, she should relax.

While we have not seen refills stations, except for the Electric Umbrella, if you ask the CM when you purchase the drink for your drink to be filled without ice and then ask for a cup of ice, (it is no charge), you will be surprised how much more drink you really get. While my DH always needed another soda, now we have enough for everyone without an additional purchase.

Since Captin Cook's is located in the Polynesian they obviously sell the mugs there, which means guests can get drinks themselves either in them or in the paper cups. I also know that the their soda machine is located away of the cash registers, however since I already mentioned that the guests get the drinks themselves it should not matter.
