Hello :)

So I've read some Cruise TRs and I noticed on some that there was a drink of the day on each day of the cruise.

How does this work? Do you get to keep the cool glass it's in?
Also, is there a non-alcoholic version?

DH and I did this on another cruise line (RCI) and kept our glasses from a non-alcoholic drink of the day. We LOVE having these glasses and are a really fun memory to decorate our kitchen.
We're really hoping that Disney does this too because ... well .. Disney is better

Out on the pool decks, servers will have the Drink of the Day in the souvenir DCL plastic glasses, and they cost a bit more, $8 or so, but you get to keep the great cup to take home.

The Drink of the Day itself from any of the bars or dining rooms is at a discounted cost for the day, typically $4-5 it seemed. From what I've read, you can bring your reusable souvenir cup to get it filled with the drink of the day at the lower cost, but you get that little bit bigger cup full of drink ;)

Also, be sure to check out the pre-dinner drink specials. It's 2-for-1 for the half hour before each dinner seating in a specific place (Diversions on the Wonder). A few days of our sailing the 2-for-1 was the drink of the day, so we ended up with 2 for $5! Other days, it was something like the "Deep Blue Sea" and was about $8-9 for the 2 of them, but good to try something diff and $4 each or so you can't argue with.

We tried the drink every day, had to get the discount and the fun themed drink! lol

They will charge you extra for the souvenir glass (which is not glass, it's plastic, but I am calling it a glass to distinguish it from the regular cups). If you don't want it, go to the bar and order the drink without the glass. I have one glass, and I don't want any more, even to get it refilled. It's the same price for the refill with or without the glass, but the glass is a little bit bigger than the cups. I may get one on my next cruise if it says "Hawaii" on it but if it's still the same souvenir DCL glass I won't get one.

You can also get the drink of the day in any of the bars, doesn't have to be up on the pool deck.

Does anyone know if there is a non-alcoholic version of the Drink of the Day?

On our Alaskan cruise last August, the Navigators highlighted two drink each day - one with alcohol, one without. Not sure if this is the case on the Bahamas/Caribbean cruises.

On our 3-night Dream cruise these were the drinks of the day:

Alcoholic
Paradise Punch
Yellow Bird
Bahama Mama

Non Alcoholic
Espresso Chiller
Parrot Song
Coco Bali

Speaking of drinks of the day (and not to hijack the thread) but does anyone know if they have special sail-away non-alcoholic drinks - preferably in the special souvenir cups? On our last cruise we went for the bahama-mamas which were delicious but they did not make the rough seas we experienced that night very pleasant. I don't want to miss out on the fun of having a fruity drink upon embarkation but I'm thinking any alcohol is a bad idea.

Yes, they do have non-alcoholic sail-away drinks in souvenir cups. I see kids with them all the time.

The Drink of the Day is listed on the front page(at the bottom) of the Personal Navigator you get in your stateroom each day while on-board. For the 3 day cruises there is a different alcoholic and non-alcohol drink each day, not sure about the longer cruises. Enjoy

Thank you all for your help!!

Does anyone know what the prices for the non-alcoholic drinks of the day are?

I believe EnchantedTikiGirl gave some pricing, but only for the alcoholic versions :)

When we boarded, we got the bahama mamas right away and the same server had both the Alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We got 1 of each and they were only about .75-$1 difference, LOL. Throughout the week we got my son the virgin DotD as well and it was just about the same price as the regular, $4-5. I'm assuming this is more because of the time it takes to make the drinks and labor costs, than what the actual ingredients are. Smoothies seemed to be 3.95.

FYI: although it is convenient to purchase the drink of the day from the waiter that is walking around on the deck, I suggest if it is a frozen drink getting it from the bar (the drink will be colder and the ice will not have melted from the waiter walking around in the sun).
