Drew and Ashley's Escape Vow Renewal: Having to change plans! Would appreciate input!

congrats on your vow renewal! your story is so touching, and even though you haven't posted much, what you have posted has me convinced that you two love each other so much :cloud9:
your vr plans sound great! wilderness lodge is my favorite resort and sunrise terrace is such a nice, intimate spot. i'll be reading along! :goodvibes

Sorry for the delay in responding, now that I have started school, the time has just been flying by. Which is exciting considering we are a little over 3 months until our next trip to the World. We are going to celebrate our 1st year of marriage, I have a kind of abandoned planning trip report... I need to update, Drew likes to read my PTRs to see what I have planned for us. We had to schedule it during my three weeks off from school, so it will actually be our 10 & 3/4 month-o-versary ;).

CUTE!! This is so stinkin adorable, I'm really jealous I didn't think of it first! :rotfl:

Catching up on all of your planning and so excited for you two! Happy Valentines!

Thank you! I cannot take full credit. On the family section of the DISboards is a thread for families to post their Disney-theme night ideas. It's so much fun, all the ideas that are posted there. Here is a link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1707141&highlight=disney+night

The inspiration video from the Disney Wedding blog was great. It shows that you don't have to go overboard when it comes to planning your special day. I think the new plans sound like a lot of fun. I know there were a lot of things that we ended up cutting out because of budget and in the end we never noticed those things being missing. Spending time with our family and friends was the best part of the day/week.

The UP V-day lunch was super cute. I have a friend who did an UP themed 1st b-day party for her son and it was so neat to see the creative ideas that can stem from that movie. :dogdance: The pictures of your girls checking everything out are cute too. Our cat's name is Katey (with an "e" added) too.

:goodvibes Thank you. I am so happy to read you felt that way about making some cuts. The more we plan to spend time with our family and friends, the more excited we get. DH's family has NEVER been on a vacation together, unless it was to visit other relatives, so this will be a big first visit. Thank you for the compliments on the girls and the UP Valentine's lunch. I just love how that movie seems to touch people of all ages.

What a cute idea! Your dogs are adorable too. Good luck with school :)

Thank you Thank you! School has been fun, and helping the time just fly by.

Your UP themed lunch is SO cute!!!! Adorable. :lovestruc

Thank you :)

Aww, that is so nice. Thank you so much for the kind words and reading along.

My Birthday Proposal

Our elopement was pretty spontaneous. We had discussed getting engaged, but with my not feeling up for planning a wedding we decided to elope. I remember I was at work, and called Drew and said "Hey, I'm off next weekend, do you want to get married then?" Yep... that was it. Very romantic I know :)

Well yesterday was my birthday. Drew came into our room and brought me blueberry pancakes and eggs. Drew knows how much I love Disney, and handmade things, so he made me a pair of Minnie ears out of an old headband of mine, and it doubled as a card.

On the back it said "Happy Birthday to my best friend and favorite person. You should know that every day spent with you is a gift to me, and I cannot thank you enough for being my wife. "Where one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pears. Her husband entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize." - Proverbs 31:10-11

Ashley, I thank God every day that I get to be the one that you call your husband. It would give me great pleasure if you would join me in the Most Magical Place on Earth, and renew our vows with our great friends and family. I love you more and more each day, Ashley.
Love,
Drew"

Then Drew told me to close my eyes, and he put on my ears. I opened them and he was on one knee, and was holding a ring :goodvibes He asked me to marry him :lovestruc I cannot express what this proposal meant to me, and I am still kind of in shock, but needless to say, this was the best birthday I have had. To have him propose after what we have been through brought me to tears.

When we eloped I only let him buy me a band. He surprised me with an engagement ring for my birthday. I love it :lovestruc

Thank you. :goodvibes Drew is very crafty. It was very fitting for him to make me a headband, especially since he is obsessed with my array of headbands. :rotfl: He puts me to shame when it comes to the romantic stuff

Oh wow, what a sweet proposal. And that ring! It is beautiful. Awwww :)

Thank you Jilian. I will let Drew know he did such a wonderful job picking it out, he is seems kind of unsure of his choice... He keeps asking me if I like it. :rotfl2:

You DO have a journal! I love your ring. And. Your dress is kinda sorta similar to mine! I think the idea of renting a villa at BLT is a good one. We'll be at VWL since we own there, but I was thinking of asking if we could utilize the space directly inside the terrace (which I think is where they set up the cake, etc, anyway) for an impromtu wine/cheese get together after the ceremony since we'll have some time to kill before our AP dinner that evening. I'll let you know what I find out!

Sorry I have been a bit out of the loop with your PJ - all caught up now, sweetie!!

Loving the new plans!! Hiring a villa through David is an excellent idea!! I have rented out my points to guests through him in the past and he provides an excellent service IMHO.
You will love Heather at 'It's Tasty Too', she is wonderful to work with!!
Your dress is gorgeous - so elegant and sophisticated!!
What a wonderful DH you have. Lovely ring and romantic surprise, definitely a keeper!!!

Hi Ashley!!

What a sweet story! I know all about spinal issues -- we had a car accident in 2010 which resulted in a pretty serious spinal injury for me and a hip injury for DH :( I have been through all sorts of treatments, all of which haven't provided any long term relief, but keeping positive that something may work!

Love all the details so far, and really looking forward to hearing more of your plans!

I just wanted to join in! :) Your love story is so sweet! :cutie: Sunrise Terrace will be beautiful! I may also have to make an Up-themed lunch for my DF sometime!

How lovely.
Sorry for the delayed response, thank you so much. :goodvibes

:welcome: I'm so excited you're also planning a Sunrise Terrace wedding. We are still kind of playing around with options for after the ceremony, but I love the idea of adding hors d'oeurves and such. Definitely let me know what you find out!

Thank you so much.

We love Davids, it's a nice stress-free option to rent points. We are excited to work with them again.

I am excited to work with 'It's Tasty Too', I just loved your swan wedding cake. All of their work just looks incredible.

Thanks for reading along, and the sweet words. :cloud9:

I'm sorry to hear you haven't had any long term relief :sad2: I completely agree that staying positive helps. :goodvibes

Thank you! You should plan an Up-themed lunch  Or any kind of Disney themed lunch, especially if your weather has been anything like ours.

I know I have been terrible with commenting and posting. School has been hectic for I took an opportunity to accelerate my classes, and I barely have time to sleep, let alone DIS. I do have a week off from school, and then we’re off to WDW for a week!

An update:
I had to quit my job a few months ago, due to my knee still having a meniscus tear and my muscles needing additional time to recover from my surgery. Drew and I talked about it, and right now I am just concentrating on school. He is really supportive of me focusing on school, but I didn’t expect myself to feel so awful about not contributing financially.

Due to the change in financial circumstances we had decided to switch to a DCL VR. Then as luck would have it, Drew was promoted! Back to our original plans! We really didn’t see this coming, and this has been such a wonderful blessing. Also time away from the DIS has paid off and I should be complete school by October. This is when we actually hit a snag with the wedding plans. I have met with a few potential employers, and depending on which department I am assigned to there is not a possibility of being able to have our ceremony in January or anytime before April (tax season). Thank goodness we figured this out before giving our deposit to Disney.

Also, Drew became less than thrilled about our location choice (which he chose). He wants something more private and to be able to have more guests. So I am assuming this leaves us only two options for the escape route? Wedding pavilion and Epcot Canada terrace? I love the idea of the wedding pavilion for every time I pass it while on the monorail my heart skips a beat. I am concerned it may look too empty in photos if we have less than 18 guests. Epcot Canada looks great, but I’m not sold on the idea of not being able to have an outside photographer.

So now I need to figure out a new date and a wedding location. As much as I would love to move the ceremony up our friends and family need at least 6 months’ notice, and December is just not an option either due to my mom’s line of business. If anyone would like to offer any input on location choices and date options I would be so thankful. :worship:
