You will not be the rebel you think you are ;)

The navigator recommends Pirate or Tropical Dress
Pirate Night Navigator

When we were on the Wonder over Thanksgiving, our Navigator said the same thing. A lot of families wore tropical, and a few wore pirate.

One nice thing I noticed, all the CM's commented to the people wearing pirate costumes. So while there were only a few pirates, the CM's made them feel right at home.

But you don't get the navigator until you are onboard. can't do much about it then.

We were on the 3-day cruise on the Wonder during September. We were psyched for Pirate's Night - we didn't bring Pirate outfits, but did have hats, bandanas & eye patches. The Navigator said "Tropical/Pirate Attire". But our dinner turned out to be in Tritons that night and we were the only ones with anything "Pirate" on. There was no "Pirate's in the Caribbean" dinner, no "Pirate's menu" to keep, nothing. We had fun anyway, but I wish we had known ahead of time. Like the previous poster said, it seems to be a bigger deal on the 7 day or longer cruises on the Magic.

My husband is going to kill me if we are the only ones fully dressed...

hmmm will he keel-haul you or make you walk the plank? :rotfl:

When we cruised on the magic in december the Navigator said tropical or pirate attire, so you will fit in either way you dress.
And I agree with the above post that at least 1/2 the people on the Magic dress up and just a few on the Wonder. We have done both a few times now and on the Wonder our wait staff didnt dress up, but on the Magic they dressed as pirates too. On the Magic you also got a souvenir pirates dinner menu as well as the bandana, on the wonder it's only the bandana. I think both places should be exactly the same.
We had people ask us too, how did you know to dress up? They had no idea until they got on the ship. I think DCL should educate people about the suggest dress for each night on their web site, on their DVD and in their paper work they send out before the cruise. Then more people could join in the fun to the fullest!!
Hope you have a magical cruise!!

In the FAQ section on the DCL site, under "Preparing for Your Cruise" and "What should I wear to dinner?" it says that one night is Pirate or Tropical night. I just don't think very many people look through those suggestions.

We were on the Wonder in Dec. and our servers were dressed up(we were in AP) and we got a souvenir menu and the bandana.....not sure when you were on it?

We didn't dress up(just b/c we don't get into that), but I did expect to see alot more people dressed up and didn't see many.
