Dress your daughter like Dolly Parton and you might lose custody

I don't see the Dad crossing the line. The child was 4 years old when this was done..she was put in padded bras with a padded butt. I can see a parent finding that objectionable.

Anyone watching the show or searching the internet sees these images of his 4 year old daughter:

I don't think it is going to far for a parent to object to their preschooler being dressed in such a manner and to question the parent who feels these are good choices.

I agree with the father. The sexualizing of young children is sickening, and this is only one example.

I have seen parents dress the kids worse at Halloween. Does that mean the child should be taken out of the home NO

Is it just me, or are most of the pageant contestants mothers severely overweight? They might want to focus on their health more than selling their children off like prostitutes. :thumbsup2

Also, that mothers response... I don't think Gabby competed for Miss America OR Miss USA. :scratchin :rotfl:

Can't say I've ever seen anybody sex up the 4 year old and parade them around this neighborhood for Halloween....much less putting them on a lowest common denominator TV show for the entire nation to mock.

If that was my daughter and my Ex was doing it, I'd be headed back to re-arrange custody too.

I applaud him in his effort. The Gabby Douglas example was pretty much irrelevant. The issue is the over-sexualization of these kids, not them moving long distances for athletic training. I hope he wins.

Those pageants are sickening. I don't blame this father at all. No way in Hades I would ever put my daughter in one of those things and no way in Hades I would consider marrying a woman who would. People need to be a bit more picky about who they reproduce with in my opinion.

All those pageants are is fodder for the pedophiles of the world and a bunch of dumpy housewives with no real self worth or societal contribution who try to live through their children (again in my opinion).

I agree with the father. Children should be children, not miniature sex objects or fantasies for their mom's unfulfilled dreams.

It will be interesting to see what the court decides on this case and the impact it will have on new claims by non custodial parents.
Why would any parent approve of this?
IMHO, the mom made a very poor decision by allowing her 4 year old daughter to add padding to her bottom and heavily padded bra, never mind the make up and outfit itself. But it does seem that the more outrageous and inappropriately sexual the better for a win?? This is not a playtime dress up in the privacy of their own home (and thatd be another discussion :rotfl:) rather IMHO, it was a choice to parade her minor child around a stage and try to exploit her to win a prize/$.....sad and not cute to me.
I dont think she should lose custody for this one incident/choice but if there is any type of pattern to this "pageantry lifestyle"...yeah, she needs a reality check that it is not in the best interest of her minor child....

I have seen the way this little 4 year old was dressed and I totally agree with the father. It is different if it is a Halloween costume.

This little 4 year old was strutting her stuff in a most suggestive way.

I saw this the other day. I can't believe that any parent would think it is OK to dress your 4 year old like this for any reason. Sick.

Are there any pics of this girl not in her DP costume and just her regular pageant atire? I can't imagine it being much different except for the extra padding so why wasn't he fighting for custody before?

O...M...G

Any parent who thinks this is appropriate should NOT be a parent.

These shows are giving pedophiles a legitimate cable show to watch without having to download it. HOW can anyone find this acceptable? Stupid mothers who can't get this attention in real life. DISgusting.

And even WORSE, it's on the news everyday. What the... :confused3

Oh please, what a crock of crap. That outfit is tame by many standards at these events. Are you going to take all the girls away from their families for it? How about cheerleaders? The outfits they wear are tiny and they are throwing those legs everywhere. Dance? Have you seen the routines and outfits on some of those kids?

BS, the judge needs to get a grip.

I don't understand the bolded - by allowing the four-year-old to add padding, etc.?

I really don't think the kid went out and procured any of that mess herself, that was all her mother's doing.

Go dad. This is what the mother is doing with his child? I'd be in court too.

The world would be a better place if this happened.

I hate those pageants and think the parents who put their children on the pageant circle have some mental health issues. These poor little girls are wearing more makeup at 3 and 4 years old than I have ever worn in my life. Hair extensions, tanning, false eyelashes and don't even get me started on the costumes. I can understand why the father does not want to support this in any way.

However, this can be a slippery slope. Will this effect child athletes, actors, singers? What pushes an activity from dedicated to unhealthy? And do the courts have the right to decide that?
