OK - This question is for those of you who work in bridal shops or have had similar experiences:

I ordered my dress in April & it is due in about 2 weeks. I told the bridal shop when I ordered that I was planning to lose some weight prior to the wedding - nothing drastic maybe 20 pounds. They told me alterations would be no problem. Now, I am staring to have a panic attack. I have lost the weight I was planning to lose & according to the designers website it will change my dress size by 3-4 sizes. My dress is by Moonlight Bridal style# M2667. here is a link if you need to view it to answer my question:

I am now very concerned about the alterations becuase of the beading & style of the bodice. I know that it cannot all be taken in from the back. I am not a seamstress but from what I can tell it looks like they are basically going to have to take the entire dress apart!!!!!!!

I am very worried. Will this destroy the integrity of the design? Is there a point where there is TOO much to alter?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hey there :)

Of course every dress is going to be different... but general rule is that you can go down 2 sizes with alterations, and not compromise anything with the dress.

I also know that you said that you lost 20 lbs. How many sizes have you lost in your daily clothes? 20 lbs is usually about 2 sizes... but that isn't a hard rule. If you lost a lot of weight below the waist, then it wouldn't change the fit of the top as much, y'know?

I wouldn't panic :) If the dress is too large to be altered, then they can probably do a rush to return it and get the right size, so I wouldn't stress :)

Everything will work out fine :)

I lost alot of weight as well. They had to rush a new dress for me and alter that. David's Bridal was very accomodating with me and did not charge me anything for the change. My advice, wait for the dress to come in and then assess with your bridal salon to see what they can do to help.

I wouldn't worry. 1 to 2 sizes is really no big deal at all. I'm sure that everything will be just fine, and you'll laugh for being so worried! :) Your dress is absolutely stunning by the way! You're going to look so beautiful!
