it always amused me that signature dress code prohibits women from wearing pants longer than capris... unless jeans

even the Swolphin dress "code" is a "recommendation" not a "requirement" so I doubt they would turn the OP away. Decent Flip Flops are really just "backless sandals" as someone called them above. If someone gave me trouble I'd say that!

I agree with the backless sandals. You could also say you have a doctors note that you are allergic to "casual".

Every WDW Restaurant GETS that you will likely be coming from, or going TO, a Park. Just Wash, avoid "I eat Children for Breakfast" T shirts. All will be fine.....

EXCEPT for V&A - being a SERIOUS SIG? Bring your suit, or best dress.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

On our last trip to California Grill in May 2018 I was told by the lady who walked us to the elevator that they were "transitioning" towards a no flip-flops policy, though I don't think she gave me any timeframe for when it would be enforced. I was wearing what I would consider a fancy flip-flop. My girlfriend who came up the elevator five minutes later with her husband and was wearing a nice dress and basic Old Navy flip-flops had nothing said to her. It became a running joke all evening, her fancy shoes. It also made me much more aware of the shoes everyone in the restaurant had on and almost all the ladies were in some sort of flip-flop or sandal. I'm not sure why this would ever be policy anyway with everyone barreling back into the restaurant from the parks for the fireworks in anything and everything. Seemed silly to me at the time. Wear your flip-flops.

My family has always “dressed up” for our signature dinners. I’ve always been totally surprised at what some people wear and get away with. I just don’t get it. I understand you may be coming from or going to a park but I would still expect to see the clothing more appropriate. For me it takes away from the whole experience when people aren’t dressed appropriately.

We have eaten twice at California Grill this week and people were dressed in various ways both smart and extremely casual. At no point was anything said to the extremely casually dressed people seated near us. I guess their money is as good as any others.

The one thing we were more shocked about was the bad behaviour of some of the children. The parents took no notice whatsoever of what they were up to. At one point they were rolling around the floor. People wearing flip flops certainly would not have ruined our evening like the family near us. Rant over.

Expected to see only nice attire on the guests at California Grill, but was actually appalled by what some wore. Went to Flying Fish dressed in a nice casual attire and was told I was not appropriately dressed. Besides that the waitress was condescending and somewhat rude, food wasn’t that great and all around worst dining experience my family ever had at WDW.
