dress code at signatures

I think if you check the Official Website you will find that Shulas IS a Signature restaurant--as are Il Mulino, Fultons and Blue Zoo.

Shorts are often spotted there and so are t-shirts!!! We were there in May and saw several gentlemen attired exactly that way. And Mrs U had on sneakers!! They never even looked at her feet!!

Last year we were there during football season on a Monday night and spotted several gentlemen in football team jerseys...

Thanks for the question! I've been wondering the same thing for an upcoming dinner at Artist Point. I'll be at the parks earlier in the day in sneakers and don't want to go all the way back to POP just to change shoes. Hopefully sneakers are okay, otherwise it's easy and light enough to throw some cute sandals in my backpack.

it is always fun to go to V&As in full suit and tie and then head over to MK to wander at night. Lots of people look over wondering if we're back in the 50s and suit coats are now common in the parks.

Sneakers are just fine--footwear isn't even part of the "dress code".

I know it's confusing because Disney takes ADR's on these restaurants so they categorize them. However they are not, and never have been Disney "signature" restaurants. Remember the Swan and Dolphin are not Disney properties. It's also hard to argue with a published dress code and as you can clearly see that code is very different from Signature restaurants.
Just like any other restaurant topics like this can be uneven for a number of reasons. Things do change with staff, season etc and of course policies can change as well, After all it's it's not exactly a shocker that you'd see football jerseys in Don Shula's place for Monday Night football.
As far as sneakers go at a Signature I've never seen any issues there nor can I imagine any. Setting all that aside isn't Fulton's closed and changing?

Of course hardly anyone will be checking Shula's website when they make reservations. They'll just call or get online at the Disney site and learn it is one of the Signature restaurants. And go from there.

Yep--not sure if it will be Fultons with just a name change, or a brand-new spot all its own

When we went to Yachtsman from HS we packed a backpack with a change of shoes and shirts (we were going in June). We checked the bags in the HS locker then ducked into the washroom to freshen up when we arrived at BC. We felt much better in clean and dry shorts, and I liked having my snazzier sandals. I have to admit that perhaps I'm just a bit old fashioned but I try to walk a line between being at the parks and park ware, and making a bit of effort to look nice in the signatures.

Absolutely true . However (just us, all personal opinion, I'm not right - you aren't wrong) - my wife and I tend to use THESE :

"New Balance WW411BK or MW411BK"

These are BLACK, Post Office approved Sneakers . As you could guess? They are VERY VERY GOOD for a lot of walking in the parks. And being BLACK, without lime green flashes? They APPEAR to be fairly formal shoes, when we go out to dinner each night .

Just us - we LOVE these shoes .

I know this thread is 2 years old, but I'm just bumping to confirm 'dressy' flip flops may still be ok? I'm specifically asking for Narcoossee's as we have a reservation there next month & I was going to wear a sundress with some nice beaded flip flops (not beach or pool flip flops).

The policy on the website states: "Not permitted in the dining room are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics."

If you are looking for comfortable sandals check out Dansko. I find their sandals more comfortable than any other footwear ever. I have walked all day & night at Disney in this brand. I simply cannot walk in flip flops. Never could.

• Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional.

I have worn dressy flip flops many times to every signature restaurant and not even remotely dressy ones once at Jiko when we made a last minute ADR while on the bus back to AKL, as I figured I could run up to the room and change my shoes if they said anything, and have not had anyone say anything or make us feel out of place at all. So although I wouldn't advocate for being able to wear athletic flip flops I have personally never seen anyone turned away for wearing dressy flip flops.

If it says not permitted, why take the chance? The only reports I have heard of people being turned away for wearing flip flops are on the Disney Cruise Line, but still, the dress code for signatures is lax enough that wearing a sandal with a back strap seems like a small accommodation to make.

I have to agree with you since flip flops are technically beachwear and I would personally not take the chance myself

I think Florida is more forgiving about flip flops than anywhere else. Those are just regionally accepted as 'shoes', in most cases. As long as they look nice and aren't like ratty distressed Reef flip-flops, no one will even notice or care that you're wearing them. I'd wear my dress flip-flops pretty much anywhere but a 5-star pretty comfortably.

There's always a couple of topics that really get going on here; dress code which is still allowed to be discussed and an action we are not allowed to discuss that takes place at some point toward the conclusion of our meal (it could be dessert).

it always amused me that signature dress code prohibits women from wearing pants longer than capris... unless jeans

even the Swolphin dress "code" is a "recommendation" not a "requirement" so I doubt they would turn the OP away. Decent Flip Flops are really just "backless sandals" as someone called them above. If someone gave me trouble I'd say that!
