We just got back on Saturday and I don't have time for a full trip report right now, but I thought I would share what I learned about being "dreamed"!

Monday, May 5th
Not exactly a dream, but we got to be the opening family! My mom went up and asked a cast member if we could get in early to take a picture (duh, mom, OF COURSE they're not going to let you in early!) and she said they were still looking for an opening family so they picked us! We got "Honorary Citizen" buttons and they took pictures of us in front of the Mickey flowers before we did the countdown and waved everyone in. Lots of fun! :)

About 25-30 minutes after the park opened, we were at Big Thunder Mountain and my DH noticed people coming from the path behind BTMMR wearing dream fastpasses. By the time he mentioned it to me, we ran back there but it was too late. :(

Tuesday, May 6th
Since others here had mentioned getting dream FP befind BTMMR and we had seen them there the day before, we decided to try that location again. My DH went back there at about 10:00 (after MM) and waited by the Cast Members only door (right between Fantasyland and Frontierland). He saw two dream team members come out, walk around and go back in. He waited by the door until they came out again and followed them. They went to the bridge behind BTMMR and started handing out dream FP. He got one and called me and I ran to get one too. About half our group got there in time to get them and we took the other half to City Hall to get theirs. :thumbsup2

Wednesday, May 7th
My DH and I and our kids wanted to start out at DCA but my sister wanted to try for the dream FP again so she went to the bridge behind BTM. She saw 2 dream team members go in the exit to BTMMR so she got in line for the ride. When she got off she was dreamed, but not FP. It was for an all-you-can-eat dessert character buffet at the plaza inn at 7:45pm. When we went to City Hall to get them for the whole group, they said that with dreams like that, you don't each have to have the pass. As long as one person in the group has the pass, everyone can get in. They also said that this was a dream they only do once a month so it was pretty special. At the buffet, there were various types of cheesecake and cake along with soda and other drinks. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto were there in their YOMD outfits and went around taking pictues with everyone. There were probably 75-100 people there. They also brought Mickey balloons to all the kids. It was a lot of fun!! :yay:

Thursday, May 8th
We tried for the dream FP again after MM. We saw a dream cast member go in the exit of Dumbo but they just pulled out one family for a dream. I heard they won a shopping spree but I'm not sure. They spent quite a while talking with the cast member and filling out paperwork. While my sister was waiting around to see if the cast member was going to leave and give out another dream, she noticed a dream team member going in the exit of Pinocchio. She got on that ride and got dream FP. We went to City Hall to get them for the rest of the group. :woohoo:

Friday, May 9th
We got the dream FP again about 25 min after the park opened at the exit of Pinnocchio and 45 min after the park opened at the exit of Snow White. Once again, we went to City Hall to get them for everyone who didn't get them. Then, at about 11:45, coming off Tarzan's Treehouse (my DH was entertaining the kiddos while I was on Indiana Jones), my DH got dream VIP viewing of the fireworks. They told him that everyone in our group did not need to have a pass, but they wanted to know how big our group was so they could plan for us. The VIP seating was in front of the plaza pavillions. They had sectioned off an area and had benches and drinks for us. There were only 3 other families there besides us. We were going to try for the trifecta that night, but instead we had a nice, quiet, crowd-less place to watch the fireworks! I wouldn't say it was the best spot (there were a few small trees in the way) but it was great to not have to fight the crowds! They told us they usually give away 30 passes, but often only have 20 people show up. Because our group was large, they had to find more chairs for us! It was a great day (and week) for dreams!! :cheer2:

Summary--about 20-30 min after the park opens, you can usually find Dream Squad Members in or around Fantasyland and/or on the path behind BTMMR. There is a cast member door right where those two areas meet. Hang out around that door and be on the lookout for those wonderful white vests, and you may be able to be "dreamed"! :goodvibes

Wow, that sounds like a lot of FPs! Congratulations on all your dreams! :wizard:

Hi Allimaree guess what we counted down with you on Monday! How fun that I can picture you and your family. We were at the front of the gates waiting to get let in. Were you all wearing different colored shirts for your different family members (bright green, blue, red, etc--looked like a generational thing)? Or maybe that was the Sunday family...

We never once saw the Dream Team. I think your tips are most excellent and congrats to you for scoping it out and getting fun stuff! The dessert buffet sounds terrific and a fun and different thing! We found that during our time there we really never needed fast passes, we saw lots of folks with the Dream FP at the end of the day around their neck with none of the fastpasses used!

Yep, that was us!! All in baseball tees with different colored sleeves. No rhyme or reason to the colors, just variety. We wanted to put Disneyland 2008 on the front, but because it is copyrighted, we put D-land. We had a lot of people ask us that day what D-land stood for! On the back we had our last names with a number (1-20). The oldest, my grandpa was number 1 and the youngest, my nephew was 20. How fun that you were there too!

You're right, there were definitely fast passes we didn't use, but we liked having them for things like Space Mountain, Indy and Soarin' and it was nice to not have to send a runner to get fast passes. It was a great week to be at DLR! :flower3:

How exciting.. we kept a look out for them but never saw them on Sunday. WE will have to go and try again!

How funny! We spent a good minute trying to figure out who was related to whom with the different colored shirts. We thought it was a family reunion. We have to laugh--your son, or a nephew perhaps--was doing something goofy in the photos, I don't recall what but I looked at my friend and said "that kid is gonna be in trouble!" and she said, "no he's not, it's who he is." I hope my friend is right and that it made your pictures more charming!

:cool1: Awesome! We'll be in Disneyland this September. pixiedust: Last September in WDW we won so many Dreams so maybe our luck will carry over!!! :wizard:

Allimaree, did your family make it to the rope drop after your photos? Rich, the head security guy, pulled my son out of the line to "open" the park and my son was game! He had his arms up and was ready to release the crowd on the countdown! Rich was just joking with him, though, he didn't want him trampled and sent him back to us to race into the park with everyone else! He had a USC sweatshirt on and a black baseball cap.

It would be so funny if we saw you, and you saw us, and yet...we still don't know each other!!

Oh my gosh! We were right behind you at the rope drop. I saw him pull your son out and then send him back! Yeah, I wouldn't want to be in that security guard's position when that rope comes down! Were you the one talking to him about IASW? I heard a little of the conversation, but I had family asking me questions so I didn't eavesdrop too much!

I'm sure it was my son being silly in the pictures, but I haven't donwloaded them yet. He's a goof-off! Good thing we were in Disneyland, the happiest place on earth! All the kids are mine except for the two babies.

Wow, that's quite the haul of dreams your family came away with. Stalking the dream team . . . hmmmmm, not a bad idea. ;)

Noglory, Rich is one of my favorite CM's. I chat with him at rope drop just about every time I visit.

Oh he was a kick in the pants! We had him take our picture, then asked him a question about his job...then the man couldn't stop talking to us! He kept wandering down the line and coming back and chatting us up. It was so fun. It really helped brighten the whole Disney experience. My friend never engages anyone, and she kept laughing at me. I made friends in the Nemo line, at the rope drop, waiting for the parade, in the Tower of Terror, etc etc etc. She said "Do you make friends everywhere you go?" and I said "No, but it sure is easy at Disneyland!! Everyone is having fun and is in a great mood!"

You just might be one of the luckiest people on the Dis! Congrats on all your winnings and I'm glad you had a great time at DL. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for the tip!! We were "dreamed" last October in DCA, we won the mouseears, not much, but we still won and were still happy!!

Does anybody have any tips for DCA?

I will def. have to remember about FL shortly after opening, that was plan to get started this time!!

Look out DreamTeam, here we come!!!!

P.S. I want the shopping spree!!

This is exactly where we got our Dream FP at about the same time after park opening. I think us Dis'ers got a system going....

LOL

wow...you guys sure were lucky!

I'm headed there in June...with boyfriend and his 3 kids who have never been there, hope we have as much luck!

Oh, man! I am soooo using that stragety when we go next month!! we haven't been to DL since August 2006, and it will be my youngest's first trip. I think I am more excited than everyone, especially because of my youngest!! It would be awesome to be dreamed. I am hoping we get Fastpasses at least once, and I hope we get Dream Ears, too. I know my dd would love the Dream lanyard, too. (Is that Tinkerbell themed? I bet ds would love it, too, if it wasn't girly)
