Dreams come true...WDW 8/30-9/16

Great update...loved the pictures at Kona! :rotfl: I like that restaurant too! You need to try it out for breakfast. Tonga Toast! That's all I have to say!! :goodvibes

OK, since it's like you guys had two trips in one, and I'm so far behind, I'm just going to jump in here and start with your arrival at the Grand. :cloud9: I'll backtrack and catch up with the AKL part of your trip and then PM you with my comments & questions. (I'm sure I'll have more than a few! I love AKL and want any advice and wisdom that you can share!)

I love how you surprised the boys at check-in! How wonderful! You can just see the excitement in their eyes. I'm so happy you got your dormer room. It looks amazing. I'll wait to ask you which resort you loved more until the end of your TR... but I HAVE to know. LOL! :rotfl:

Isn't Kona Cafe soooo goood??? We eat there every trip... sometimes multiple times a trip. Even on this last short trip we went there twice! :thumbsup2 In fact, I'll be posting pictures of the crab cakes & prime rib in my next installment! I was drooling this morning when I was editing the pictures! :goodvibes

I can't wait to read more. Jay, you've really outdone yourself with this trip and trip report! I'm so happy you had this magical of a vacation. If anyone deseves it, you do, my friend.

Take care,
Michelle
OH CRAB CAKES AND PRIME RIB!! OH THE JOY of that combo!! :cloud9: It was actually a previous trip report of yours where I decided I "had" to try Kona!! THANK YOU!! You were right on!

I am so very glad we went on this trip. It was our last trip as a family of five...and with all that has gone on with my dad (he is still in the hospital, but in the rehab wing now:banana: ) and with getting stuck with tons of restrictions with the pregnancy after we returned...it was one very needed and very appreciated time away from it all!:cloud9:

Ask away about AKL, I truly did fall in love (again)!!

I will be back over to drool over the crab cakes and prime rib. ;)

Thanks to your pictures, my daughter and I are now drooling for Kona for the cones!! However, I REFUSE to make any more changes to our ADR's!! :lmao: Next time!!

Also, because of you -- I am considering writing a trip report when we get back. EEKKK!!!
HA HA HA HA HA no more changes. I am terrible...I made changes even once we got there. I am such a tweaker. I keep tweaking and tweaking and tweaking. :rolleyes1 It's a sickness, which I am glad you don't have. However, I simply cannot help myself.

YES PLEASE DO!!! PRETTY PLEASE WITH A KONA KONE ON TOP...write a trip report! I would be so delighted to hear all about your trip!! :thumbsup2

Another great update! :thumbsup2 DH and I have only tried Kona for breakfast in the past. I'm so glad to hear that you LOVED your dinner there. We're headed back to WDW in Dec. and we have Kona booked for both breakfast and dinner. I can't wait! Those Kona cones look wonderful! :goodvibes
Yum, Kona times two! Lucky you!! Make sure you come back and tell us all about BOTH meals!!

Great update...loved the pictures at Kona! :rotfl: I like that restaurant too! You need to try it out for breakfast. Tonga Toast! That's all I have to say!! :goodvibes
Oh Tonga Toast! While we were at the Poly last year, I throughly enjoyed it for breakfast at the food court. YUM!!

Day 10...The Snag

As we walked back from the boat dock we stopped to watch some ducks swimming in the pool. The boys thought it was the funniest thing they had ever seen. And only one of them had the sense to consider the fact that ducks don't use toilets...so what did that mean for the pool. :rotfl:

We spent at least an hour just sitting out by the pool, talking and watching ducks swim. I know it is far from the most exciting of Disney moments...but it was really special to our family. Even at WDW we are always on the go...so to sit and visit and just be together with nothing but ducks in a pool to distract us was magical in it's own way. It's a memory worth having. Three little boys laughing and pointing out which duck was doing what. Telling stories and talking about what had happened on vacation and what our family was looking forward to in the coming year. But even at WDW peaceful moments don't stretch out forever and eventually one of the boys had to use the bathroom. So we made our way back up to our room where we would encounter the snag...

By the time we got to our room it was about 9:45 PM. I was tired, the boys were tired and dh wanted nothing more then to kick back and relax. I asked dh to fold out the sleeper sofa and BAM....the snag hit. This was one of the lodge tower rooms that only slept four! Not great planning on Disney's part. They knew we were a party of five. Shouldn't they have placed us in one of the tower rooms that was set up to sleep five? Or failing that put us in a standard room that slept five? OR have offered us a roll away bed or something? But not a big deal. We would just have them bring us some sheets and make a bed out of the couch. "Stitch" is only 6 and he wouldn't mind it in the least, in fact, he thought it sounded fun. So...I sent dh down to the concierge desk to ask them to have sheets sent up and to grab a few drinks on his way back up. Problem solved.

Or at least it should have been. Dh comes back about 5 minutes later and tells me that it will be about an hour and 1/2 before someone can get there with the sheets. AN HOUR AND A HALF!!! :sad2: With a tired boy who needed to get tucked in. NO! That was not going to work. The boys were washing up for bed at that point and I knew we needed to get him to bed before he got overtired and made us and the people above/below us miserable. So I headed down to the lounge and told them politely (but firmly) that we really needed an extra set of sheets sooner then an hour and thirty minutes. Like within 15 minutes. That we had a young child to get to sleep and that we would have requested extra bedding earlier in the day had we known it had been needed but we had assumed that we had a room made for five since we were a party of five. Which honestly, it only makes sense. At least it did to me.

They try telling me it would be easier for us to switch rooms then to get sheets there "at almost ten at night".  Yeah, that's right, our family will repack everything...dress our kids again...MOVE to another room (which we couldn't do due to needing it to have VIP cleaning cause of our asthma/allergy issues in any case) and settle our kids down for bed a second time in one night. YEP that would be much easier on everyone!? :confused3 :confused3

I point out that we couldn't move due to needing a special cleaning and through sheet/comforter change out/drape cleaning/carpet cleaning/wall rub down and that I very much doubted that it would be easier for mousekeeping to do all of that then to just bring us an extra set of sheets.

By this time it is 10:00 PM and they are starting to get ready to go. The concierge desk is only staffed until 10:00 PM. The CM I am speaking to let's me know that it's time for them to depart but they will be happy to work with me tomorrow morning for a solution. HELLO!!! I need the sheets tonight...and I want them now. It was NOT our fault that we were given one of the rooms that didn't sleep five...even though that is what we had requested and we were listed as a party of five.

Well, about this time the manager makes his way over and asks what is wrong (like I said, they wanted to go home and I was not looking like I was even near leaving without someone giving me some sheets). I calmly explained my problem to him, he asked if we wanted a roll away bed brought up (which we didn't really need, like I said, "Stitch" was excited about getting to sleep on a couch?! ). He then asked me to wait for five minutes and excused himself. He returned in that time with sheets AND put a credit on our account for the trouble (which I would never have asked for but was too annoyed to tell him not to bother) and told me to take the boys shopping in the morning to pick out something fun to make up for the hassle.

While I was unhappy that it was such a major deal to get an extra set of sheets (and I think the whole bedding issue should have been pointed out to us on check in) I was very happy with the way that it was resolved once the manager stepped in...before that :rolleyes1 I was not so happy. BUT...all is well that ends well and with the sheets in hand, I could get the boys to bed before another hour and ten minutes elapsed. :upsidedow

So, thus ends our snag. :rolleyes1 But I want to leave you all with one note of warning...if you think your resort room has a pull out couch....CHECK IT BEFORE BEDTIME! ;)

Up next, back to EPCOT.

To be continued...

Glad that the manager could help out. Credit for the bother...yes, thank you! :woohoo: So what did the boys buy in the morning???

 An hour & a half to bring you some sheets??!! Obviously the manager just walked down and got them himself, why couldn't one of the CMs have done that? Seems like a silly thing to upset a guest over :sad2: Glad it got worked out before Stich had a meltdown! I know how my just turned 7 year old gets when he is tired and cranky - it's not a pretty sight!

Hi, I've been lurking reading your report and just wanted to tell you that I love reading about the great experiences you and your family get to share! (except for the sheets thing)

Your boys are so cute! I have been slowly reading your last year's report and "Stitch" has grown so much. What a difference a year can make.

I am glad that the manager stepped in and resolved your issues. The way the concierge staff was handling the situation before he arrived was not acceptable. For the amount of money one dishes out for a WDW vacation, especially to stay at the GF, you would think they would be a bit more on top of their customer service.

I can't believe the amount of trouble just for an extra set of sheets! :sad2:
They totally dropped the ball on that one.

We had a similar incident at a hotel (not Disney). We're obviously a party of 5 also, which they knew when we checked in. At bedtime, we realized we had beds for 5, but only pillows for 4. Front desk told me they didn't have another pillow. :confused3

"WHAT???? You have GOT to be kidding me. In this entire hotel, there isn't ONE extra pillow?!?!" Believe it or not, we had another pillow delivered to our room within 10 minutes. (You and I are a lot alike, aren't we?) Sheesh!!!! Crazy.

Glad it all worked out before meltdown occurred. We know all to well about meltdowns at our house, too.

Glad the snag was worked out! How annoying. What did they think you would do with the fifth member of your party? Cram all three boys into one bed??

Now I have to confess -- although I swore no more changing the ADR's -- forget it! In the span of one day, I have changed Garden Grill for Boma, and Mexico to France!! :lmao: I must stop planning not to plan or to change when it comes to Disney!!!

Glad that the manager could help out. Credit for the bother...yes, thank you! :woohoo: So what did the boys buy in the morning???
Each of them picked a pin and the two little boys spent the rest of theirs on a big sack of lollipops. "Aladdin" chose to get two pins. They did their shopping at EPCOT. Which is where we ended up the next day. :thumbsup2 The credit was unexpected...all I wanted was some sheets. Who would have thought that sheets were hard to come by?! ha ha ha

Nope, tired "Stitch" is a monster that NOBODY wants to meet. ;) :scared1: I have NO idea how it could possible take 90 minutes to get a set of sheets. That makes NO sense. However, we did end up getting them about 25 minutes later...just in time to avoid the dreaded meltdown.

I am so glad it's not just my little dear that can turn not so pretty when overtired.

:flower3: Thank you for your kind words!! The boys really have grown. "Stitch" especially lost his "baby" look (I think him letting his hair grow out a bit made a big difference). I really wish I had a pause button on the kids getting bigger sometimes! Lucky for me, I get a new little baby boy to fuss over soon. :) It just may help me with the growing pains that I feel over them getting big! :upsidedow

I just have no clue how that answer was ever given. It just seems ridiculous that it would take that long. I think it must have been some sort of communication mishap. Why would mousekeeping say it took that long to find clean sheets?! That one doesn't make one bit of sense to me. :sad2:

They didn't have another pillow?! OH COME ON! :lmao: What on earth?! Lucky for them they found one...I have a feeling that a mother's wrath would have rained down on them had they not gotten you a pillow. ;)

HA HA HA HA HA You have the disease! Disney ADRitis! There is NO known cure. The best treatment is just to give into the craziness and enjoy the ride!:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Your move from Mexico sounds really good. That was the only truly "unenjoyable" meal our family has ever had at WDW. Now tell me, what enticed you to France? Boma? Which dishes are you salivating for?!

UP NEXT: EPCOT :woohoo:

I have just read your TR over the last couple of day's and I'm loving it:love: . The pics are fantastic and your writing is fab. We're currently debating whether to stay at Poly or BC for our next trip and never even considered AKL but since reading your report this may also become a contender, it looks so fab. Also the decorated boats were of interest as when we go to WDW next it'll be my 40th and we were thinking of a Wishes cruise on the evening of my b/day...I'm having to plan all the lovely "surprises" myself as DH sounds v like yours, the best hubbie in the world but v challenged in this particular area:rotfl:

Any way keep up the good work you're brightening up a very cold and wet Scottish autumn:thumbsup2

I just looked at the pic of your mousekeeper..she's the same woman we had 3 years ago! Isn't she amazing?! Back then she told me she was switching over to the CB since she couldn't do the bunkbeds anymore. When we went it was right after the hurricane..1 day to be exact and she was so worried about her house and family. She said she was almost living at AKL since she had no power. Even with all that going on she was still great and had a smile whenever she saw us.She also really appreciated her tips. She said that not many people where leaving any and that ours were helping her get through her days. When we left we got the biggest hugs and sincerest wishes from her. I'm glad to see that she's still there and still smiling!!
Oh...loving your report too!!

:tinker:

Oh my goodness Jay...you really were sprinkled with pixie dust throughout your trip!! I am so happy for you. I am finally all caught up on your TR and once again am loving it!

The Grand Floridian surprise was grandiose!!!! The boys must have been over the moon with excitement!! To think they would soon be on their way home only to find out they get another week at WDW!!! What an amazing gift for all of you!!!

I can NOT wait to read what happens next so please come'on, don't leave us hanging for long!!!!

P.S.....the Kona Cafe ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just spent the last couple of hours reading this TR! Your last one was one of my first TR i ever read, and Im so glad I found this!!! I'll be at the AKL soon for the first time and your pictures got me so excited!! Cant wait for more!

You should book yourself a decorated boat!! How lovely would that be?! I thought they looked like an awful lot of fun! And yes, it's okay to plan for yourself when married to a surprise challenged man...you know once he sees it, he will think, I am glad that was done for her...just never (at least for my dh) would they think to do it ahead of time.

The Poly or the BC or AKL. HARD CHOICE! That is one of the hardest choices every vacation...where to stay? WHERE TO STAY?! It's hard because you know that no matter where you stay you will have a great vacation, but at the same time, you want to stay at the best choice for that vacation. At least I have a very hard time making up my mind. For our next vacation I have already booked the Contemporary. Now I LOVE the Contemporary...but after our AKL stay I really want to go back there. Then again, I would love to stay at the BC (it's the one we haven't stayed at yet that most intrigues us). So...long story short, I feel your pain! Good luck and remember, no matter what you pick, it will be perfect!! :wizard:

Oh and I am wishing I could see a Scottish autumn! That is one of my travel dreams. On my list of things I must do! I was in Scotland as a child for a few days. Even then I remember thinking it was beautiful and full of magic. As an adult, I would love to go back and stay for a longer time and get to explore such a beautiful country!

Thanks for dropping in...stay awhile and if you feel the need  feel free to post some pictures of "your" Scottish autumn. ;)

It was hard for us to leave her behind. I wanted to pack her up and bring her home with us. NOT so she could clean my house (although goodness knows it is needed:lmao: ) but so that we could have her as a grandma. She is just so stinkin' sweet! And so very kind and full of happiness. She is TOPS as far as CMs go and to get to the top of that list...you have to be something pretty darn special indeed!

Wow, during a hurricane! How scary! I am so very glad she stayed at AKL (for selfish reasons of course, we were so lucky to have her as our mousekeeper).

:tinker:

Sorry I have been MIA for the past few days. My dad has had some setbacks. Hopefully nothing that is not "resolvable" but still nothing great. He may lose a toe due to poor circulation, he has a blood clot in one leg and his kidneys are going wacky again. I hate not being able to be there with him but I know that I cannot do anything for him there and I could hurt the baby by going...so here I sit. Just distractedly. Although today, I have a goal of getting the next installment written and up! Anyways, thank you all for hanging in there!

Kona does rock! You were right! When you told me it would be a great meal (before we left) I believed you...I just didn't know how very right you were!! Oh the food at Kona...I wish I were there right now!

I just spent the last couple of hours reading this TR! Your last one was one of my first TR i ever read, and Im so glad I found this!!! I'll be at the AKL soon for the first time and your pictures got me so excited!! Cant wait for more!
Hi there Nicole! You are going to AKL! ENJOY EVERY SECOND OF IT!! I am glad our pictures could be of service to your AKL anticipation excitement! ;)

Coming up in just a few...EPCOT. :woohoo:

Day 11...EPCOT

This morning found us sleeping in. Another one of those lazy mornings were park opening was spent rubbing our eyes open. We headed down to the Sugarloaf concierge lounge and were greeted by a hoard of people. Maybe it was because AKL was only operating at half capacity (but still not even half as crowded) but we were not expecting to see masses of people in the lounge. Tons of people aside, there was plenty of food to go around and we each grabbed what appealed to us most and headed out (no where left to sit). We munched and drank as we walked. Not nearly as relaxing as our leisurely breakfasts in the AKL lounge but good to do a quick breakfast before hitting the parks.

As we approached the main building, we saw a bride and groom posing for pictures. That was a really sweet surprise! They both looked so happy (yet also so hot...it was a VERY humid/hot day to be in a bridal gown or a tuxedo). As we walked past them munching breakfast, I smiled to myself. What a wonderful place to start your life together!!

Once inside the main building we quickly made our way to the monorail platform. We were all very excited for our first monorail ride of the vacation!

It was almost over before we even got to start enjoying it. The boys and I may have been much more into the monorail ride then dh...however, I even saw him smiling to himself. It was nice to get back to such a Disneyfied way of travel!

By the time we got to EPCOT it was already late morning. Our early morning had been taken at a very slow and lazy pace...which I for one (or actually two as the case may be ;) ) really needed that slow start. Going to Disney while expecting does have it's limitations (especially when you have some special considerations with the pregnancy and a whole lot of added stress). Going to Disney while expecting is also a fabulous thing to do. I am so glad we got away for one last vacation as a family of five!!

On our way into Epcot it started to drizzle. We ducked under cover and pulled out our ponchos...but being as I had a soccer ball sitting on my bladder and a bathroom was right there I figured I had better go in and find some relief. As I walked in with my wet bottom shoes I slipped and twisted my ankle. Not badly, but enough that I knew walking the park would not be a good idea...so I limped out of the bathroom and told dh that I would do "it". I would break down and do as my OB had instructed me to do in the first place. I would rent an ECV. Now, I know plenty of people who wouldn't flinch at doing so. But I was being stubborn. I wanted to get around under my own steam (which in and of itself was almost gone, so this was the best "accident" that could have happened, it made me become humble enough to admit that I could use a bit of help). So we walked up and rented an EVC. Those puppies are expensive! The cost was $40 for one day (with a refund of $5 when you bring it back to the stand at the end of the day). But, I knew walking was out of the question for the rest of the day and I didn't want to disappoint the boys.

EVC rented, we made our way into the park. The first place we headed was over to visit Nemo and Crush. I seriously love that ride (the new Nemo one). I don't know why. But I love sitting in a clammobile and rolling past the fish. I love the visual effects and the lighthearted feeling at the end of the ride. Dh on the other hand says that the new Nemo ride is a form of torture. I am guessing most people are more middle of the road with their reactions to the ride. BUT...love it or hate it...it was our first stop of the day. Upon exiting the ride we took in a quick show with Crush.

Although nobody in my family "talked" with Crush, it was still just a funny as ever. We all love Turtle Talk. A little boy in the audience was asked what a bikini top was for. The little boy responded (he looked to be about 6 or 7 years old), "To cover up a girl's who whos." I just about died laughing. And the CM who was walking around with the mike was struggling to maintain composure. It was even more funny when Crush said "All right dude! Well, who who is there?" I laughed so hard I almost cried. Little kids are so funny!

After Crush I made my way back to the EVC which I had parked before we started in for the Nemo ride. It was a bit more painful then I thought to walk even that short way on my ankle. So we headed off to the EPCOT first aid station. I was hoping to be able to buy an ace bandage and maybe get an ice pack thrown in. I was so happily surprised. Not only did they have an ace bandage I was welcome to have but a really nice nurse wrapped my ankle with that ace bandage and then wrapped another bandage loosely around an ice pack on top of it so that I could keep going while I iced my ankle. They didn't charge a thing and I was very impressed with how kind she was. I told her again and again that it wasn't Disney's fault that I slipped and I was willing to pay for the ice pack/wrap but she said that the first aid area was a courtesy to guests and they did not charge.

It's never fun to be sick or injured...but Disney sure did their best to make it as pleasant of an experience as possible!

While the boys were waiting outside of the first aid area they did a bit of pin trading with one of the CMs who was walking by. I gimped out just as they were finishing. The CM then started chatting with me as well. We spent a good ten minutes chatting with the CM who then asked us what we were planning on doing next. We responded that we had a lunch reservation at Le Cellier and we were going to head over there. He told us he would take a walk with us and so we walked with him. Along the way to Canada there was a stand selling hats. The CM asked if we had time for a quick pit stop. We responded that we had a little bit of time before our late lunch. He asked us to head over to the stand. Once there, he told each of the boys to pick out a hat...on Disney!! :woohoo:

I think I must have looked like I was about to cry (because I was, but it was the hormones combined with being so grateful/being overwhelmed by our good fortune/being so amazed at his kindness/a still throbbing ankle) because he told the boys to try some hats on and he asked me if I was okay. Okay?! Of course!! And I started to explain and then thank him. He stopped me and told me thanks were not needed...that this was his favorite part of the job, getting to spread a little bit of the magic around. Then he walked over to the boys and wrote something on a tiny little pad and handed it to the girl working at the stand and told her that his special guests were going to be picking out a hat each. I was still in awe (as was dh he was just sort of saying thank you to nobody and standing there looking shocked). I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things...but he wasn't a dream team member (or at least he wasn't dressed as one nor did he say he was one) and he had gone out of his way to make a dream come true and those hats are not the most expensive items at WDW but they certainly are far from the cheapest either. It was a most generous gesture. I have NO IDEA how, why or anything else. I just know it was appreciated beyond all get out.

As the boys made their final selections he said he had to get back and wished us a magical day. We continued to thank him as he walked away and again, I know it's not like he gave us a new car or something...but it felt like such a grand gesture to us that we were just beyond happy and thankful. That went for the the boys too. As he started to walk away he told the boys "No, thank you!!". That one sentence really tells what kind of person he was. To thank us for allowing him to spend time with our family after he did such a very special thing for us...INCREDIBLE!

Each of boys was the proud owner of a new hat. "Aladdin" chose a baseball cap style hat with a Mickey Mouse on it. "Goofy" chose the same hat(without seeing what "Aladdin" had picked). "Stitch" went out on a limb and chose one of the furry hats. It was in the shape of Dale's head. He LOVED it and still does...but it was way too hot for him to wear it right away. Hats in hand we made our way over to Canada for our late lunch at Le Cellier.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Oh my, sorry to hear about your fall. However, it did make you listen to your doctor! My how things happen.

On the lighter side..... good for the boys!!!! New hats all around! :woohoo: How cool was that! I bet they were just a little surprised! Isn't special that Disney allows their employees to spread such "magic" in the parks?!

Day 11...Lunch time at Epcot!

This is one of those restaurants that I cannot help but chose twice in a trip. It's a great meal with a nice atmosphere. What's not to love!?

Last week we had enjoyed dinner at Le Cellier and this time we were going to be enjoying lunch.

"Aladdin" started off his meal with cheddar cheese soup. Actually, we ordered it for him to use as a dipping sauce for the bread sticks. He said he wasn't hungry enough to want an appetizer. Dh and I both had the beef and barley soup. It was hearty and tasty! The two younger boys also had the cheddar cheese soup. So, it was soup all around for our family's appetizer course.

For the main course dh had the 10 oz. New York Strip Steak. It was topped with balsamic red onions and watercress and sat on top of Yukon potatoes. He finished every bite on his plate. And wiped off what was left with part of a bread stick!

I chose the 5 oz. Filet mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes and garlic demi-glace. OH SO GOOD. I too finished my entire plate (although I had no room left over to wipe it with a bread stick like dh did).

"Aladdin" tried the stir-fried beef tips. They were served with udon noodles and veggies with a soy sauce based glaze. OH SO GOOD! He loved this meal. After he was done he said he gave that meal two thumbs way up!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 He is a big fan of noodles and meat together...so this meal was a sure fire winner in his book.

Our two youngest did not disappoint us...they stayed consistent and ordered hot dogs again...HOW many hot dogs can you eat before you turn into one yourself?! I am not sure of the exact number, but I am betting my boys came pretty close to going over that line.

For dessert dh and "Aladdin" once again ordered the Moose Mousse and traded their desserts with "Goofy" and "Stitch" (for their kid's sundaes).

I chose the duo of sorbet. It was very tasty. And light enough that the few bites I took didn't overload my already full stomach! ;)

All in all, another GREAT Le Cellier meal. YUM!

As we walked out of Le Cellier we once again ran into Koda (the bear) and stopped to take a picture with him. It was here I discovered that our memory chip had fallen out of our camera!! :( All of the pictures I took that morning were gone (but thankfully they were the only ones on that chip). I am guessing that when I caught myself after my graceful penguin slide across the bathroom floor that morning, I must have knocked the sliding door on the camera ajar. As we progressed through the rest of our morning, I was able to take pictures. I must have bumped the camera while putting it away after taking pictures of the boys with their new hats on. We did look around for the memory card (dh even went back into Le Cellier and looked around our just vacated table). We even stopped by lost and found on our way out of the park that day. I had written our name on the memory card so I was hoping it would be turned in...but no such luck. I bet it was so small that it got swept up and nobody even realized it was there. :(

So...that my friends, is the sad story behind why we don't have any pictures from this day. Thank goodness I had just loaded a fresh memory card that morning. I would have been heart broken to have lost even more precious vacation memories.

Sad interlude aside, we were going to have fun. After all, we were at WDW. I hopped on to my little go cart (as "Stitch" liked to refer to the ECV) and off we headed back to the Future-World area of the park.

As we passed Test Track dh, "Aladdin" and "Stitch" took a ride while "Goofy" (who is not a huge fan of fast moving rides) and I took a look at all of the cars inside the Test Track exhibit area. He sure did have fun climbing in and out of those vehicles. I really wish I would have been able to snap a few pictures.

After the boys finished their ride, we headed over to the Land and went down to Soarin. The posted wait was 45 minutes! :scared1: We are NOT a family that likes to wait in line...so as we stood debating what to do, "Aladdin" remembered our fast pass from earlier in the vacation for being the Family of the Day at the Garden Grill. I dug it out but cautioned the kids we might not be able to use it since this was a different day. I need not have worried, we had no problem using it and it was great to walk (or in my case hobble) past such a long line. ;)

After Soarin' the boys were up for going to see Ellen's Energy Adventure. So, for the next 45 minutes (plus some pre-show time) we laughed and learned with Ellen. Every time my boys see the American Express commercial with Ellen in it working with the animals they shout out "There's the Disney energy and dinosaur lady, Ellen!" :lmao: :rotfl:

As we left Soarin', it started to pour. So we headed over to Innovations and spent the better part of two hours exploring all of the exhibits that both of the Innovation areas had to offer.

Next up we had one final "must do" ride. We had to go and see our dear old friend, Figment! So we headed back to that area of the park. Lucky for us it was dry on the way over. Once we got there it started to rain again. We seemed to be having very good luck with the scattered showers that day. Every time we needed to be outside going between the areas it seemed to clear up just long enough for us to make it to our next destination. Talk about your lucky days!! ;)

We finally had to drag the boys away from the Kodak What If Labs and over toward The Seas pavilion for our late dinner at the Coral Reef. Our luck once again held and the second we got to the "Mine, mine, mine, mine" birds the skies opened up. We had a mad dash for the few last seconds but avoided getting soaked before dinner.:thumbsup2

Dinner at the Coral Reef is always a lot of fun. We enjoy the huge wall of fish/shark/turtle and we think the food is very tasty!

Dh and "Aladdin" both started out with the Sea and Land which is grilled shrimp and cucumber salad with polenta and a beef skewer. I am lucky enough to be married to a shrimp hater so I got to eat that part of his appetizer for him. :thumbsup2 All three of us thought this was a very tasty presentation.

For my own appetizer I got the lobster soup. OH SO GOOD. This soup is so delicious. It's one of my favorite foods ever. It's rich and full of flavor. It's just mouth watering goodness in a bowl.

The two youngest chose the lobster soup as well. Both of them agreed with me about how good it was. OH YUM...LOBSTER SOUP!!

For our main courses we had:

Dh-New York Strip Steak (his second of the day). He said it was good but that the one at Le Cellier had been better.

"Aladdin" had the Grilled Chicken Breast (his younger brothers had the kid's sized version of this as well, no hot dogs were on the menu. ;) ). All three boys liked it a lot.

I chose the Shrimp Pasta with Stir Fried Vegetables and was happy with my choice...although I must admit, I would have enjoyed a second bowl of the lobster soup with some more of the crusty bread they serve just as much as my main course.

For dessert the younger boys went with a kid's sundae. "Aladdin" asked for one as well and got the adult sized version. Dh had the Chocolate Wave. And I chose the Citrus Creme Brulee. Fantastic desserts all around!

Upon the close of our meal it was still raining outside so we donned our ponchos and made our way to the front of the park. On our way out the boys did the some shopping with the credit the CM had put on our account the night before for the bedding mix up and then we made our way over to return my EVC.

Once that was done, we made our way CAREFULLY out of the park (wet pavement and Crocs don't mix as we had learned the week before) and back to the Grand Floridian via the monorail. Once back we headed to our room to find a perfectly wonderful and HUGE towel elephant sitting on one of the beds and chocolates galore from the turn down. Dh and I watched a made for tv movie while the boys watched the Disney channel on the tv in the sitting area of the room. It was an early night for us but all in all, it had been a wonderful day!

Up next...a day spent relaxing at the Grand Floridian and a special surprise for "Goofy" !!

To be continued (with photos)!!

Sounds like a great day at Epcot (aside from that little mishap with your foot, of course!) What a wonderful surprise that CM gave your boys with the hats! It's like someone here said earlier, you reap what you sow and your family always takes the time to be kind and considerate to the CMs you come across and because of that good things befall you! pixiedust:

ETA: Too bad you lost your memory card - those things are expensive!! I have a little bit of memory on my camera, it won't hold a lot of pictures, maybe 20 - but it'll work in a pinch!

Oh boy! How NICE to come home to more installments! JAy, I don't know how we're going to survive once your trip report is done and we're not getting anymore updates on the progress of your family!

You mentioned your last vacation as a family of 5 which got me to thinking . . . what will you do as a family of six? Get two rooms? Join DVC?

Hope your dad weathers his latest crisis well. and YOU, my dear, take care of yourself!
