Day 4: june 15, 2008, Father's Day- AK
Stitch woke us up at 7am- seemed to be our time of day! We had a 9:10 ADR at Tusker House at AK- so we roll out of bed and groggily be on our way!
The boys in the Solarium at the BC-a nice quiet sunny spot waiting for us to fix coffee-
Ready to go-
We were meeting my dad, sister and 2 nephews and DH sister, husband and 2 kids for breakfast.
We met my family at the BC and followed each other to AK- we always drive to AK I dont know why but it is easy.
My family-
my dad decided to upgrade his tickets to an annual pass--I've been trying to turn him to a Disney junky too and maybe it is starting to work!!
They actually had a separate reservation because they decided later to join us so we went ahead and met DH family and we all hoofed it back to Tusker House in Africa!
My now SIL and husband waiting for our table-
We didnt wait long, my family got there before we sat down. Before you go to be seated they take a picture of your group outside-to entice you to buy once inside! Of course I did!
There is plenty of character interaction, including a little parade around the restaurant-which is great the kids get up and move around a little-the food was yummy and the juice was great- I cant remember what is was but our kids drank pitchers of it!
Me and the kids-
DH and the kids-
Evan loves the characters-
the happy couple and a couple of characters!
We finished up breakfast and met everyone outside of the restaurant we decided to get a FP for the safari and since it wouldnt be too long we explored the Pangani Forest Trail- the highlight for the kids... a gorilla pooped!
Then we headed to Kilimanjaro Safaris-
waiting- my son and his cousin(they were so excited they would officially be cousins once we got married) and they are a handful together
my dad-
My oldest son took the camera here are some of the animals-
After the safari we decided we should get a FP for Everest--
One the way we stopped to see the leaf lady- she is really cool-
And the mandatory picture of the tree of life-
Before we got to Everest we noticed the wait at Kali River Rapids was only 20 minutes--DH said he didnt want to get wet so he went to collect the FP and we would ride- well somewhere FBIL disappeared-we waited like 10 minutes and I finally told SIL we were going without him--it turned out he went with DH to get the FP-oh well, he lost out! We had fun and got wet!
It was really funny a wave came over the side where my DS7 was sitting and he got drenched---it was hot already so we dried up quick-- all except the 2 trouble makers- we stopped for a bathroom break and they found a little fountain area and finished the job the ride had not- they were dripping wet!
of course I didnt get a picture because we were annoyed since we thought they were in the bathroom and could find them for just long enough to start panicking---
We met back up with DH our FP werent for a while so we decided to head to Dinoland--we rode Dinosaur, when we came out it was pouring! SIL stayed with DS2, my sister and her 2 boys--we found them under a tree trying to stay dry-- my phone rang it was my friend who came in from NY to come to the wedding she was in the park- I had left her our itinerary--I couldnt have been happier, we grew up together and were good friends since middle school and I hadnt seen her in about 6 years-I was wonderful to see her again-
her little girl and DS2-
We enjoyed a nice visit and catchup while the kids played in the Dinoland playarea-we decided to take the young kids to the triceratop spin, when we got off DH family was gone- I asked where they were and SIL got a call that DH other sister, her family and his grandmother were in Orlando and on their way to the hotel so they went to ride Everest and were leaving to meet them- I just felt bad because the kids didnt get to ride all together--
DH took the boys and i waited with Evan while they rode-- shortly after we decided to go back to the BC, we had an ADR at Rose and Crown for Father's Day---
