"There's Nothing I Can Do"

As we exited Fairytale Hall I got a text from Natasha saying that she was there, and ready to meet us! Yay! We found her pretty quickly and spent a little bit of time catching up! Natasha is another Canadian, about halfway through her program, she’s super sweet and we really bonded my last couple of weeks!

It was getting a little later than usual, so we promptly headed over to Frontierland where we ended up finally meeting up with Pearl! She’d been at the DisneyRun expo that morning and said it had been crazy! It had Kara a little worried since we were going after the parade! She also mentioned that when she’d gone to check into the hotel for real (for our second reservation for the full week) that the CM we’d talked to the night before (when her & her boyfriend came all the way into the resort, after a long day at work for him) to show Kyle’s ID for the CM discount, that SHE HADN’T MARKED IT DOWN. And now Kyle needed to come in AGAIN to show it. (they ended up letting us show a picture of it he sent to Pearl, but strike 2 for All Stars)

It was super nice to just sit there and catch up with everyone! Obviously we had all week with Pearl, but Amanda would only be around a few days and this ended up being the only day we saw Natasha! I also ended up running into another friend before the parade spot and we spent some time catching up while I was also hiding under the DVC booth from ALL THE DANG BIIIRRRDDDSSS #tears Jonathon’s another Instagram friend turned real life friend who was working QS food & bev, and completed a CP over in Disneyland, and has just now transferred into entertainment! So that’s super exciting!

All the catching up completed, the trumpets were sounding, the EXCITEMENT WAS TOO REAL, IT WAS TIME FOR FESTIVAL OF FANTASY!! Obvs, with us being “photographers” watching entertainment is our jam (in case you didn’t realize that already) and this parade is so amazing, and so far past anything Disney has ever done before! We were very happy to be watching it again!

The floral maidens are definitely one of my favorite parts! They’re just so CUTE AND DERPY and their choreo is awesome, AND it was our first time seeing Cassy doing it so it was just all exciting!

I’m like, 90% sure that the finale unit is my favorite, between the bubble girls, Alice, the dwarves, and the chacha girls, there’s just so much sass and colour and it’s just awesome!

Ellona was also being SUPER adorable and trying to fly at the end so like, I’m dead of cuteness.


It was so wonderful and amazing to finally get to see FoF again, it wasn’t the same level of insanity that the first Trolley show was, but STILL, and so many friends!! It was just excitement all around!! We also watched from Frontierland and then peaced to Main Street near the Barbershop to watch it again, which is a trend. Depending on the crowds you can usually get rope side spots doing this, but it was busy, and full of instagrammers today so we watched from the back!


With the parade over it was time to say goodbye to Natasha & Amanda as we all headed out separate ways. Pearl, Kara & I walked over to the Contemporary to catch a bus to the RunDisney Expo!

I had debated just going back to the hotel or something at this point (since I wasn’t running) but I figured it’d be easier to just stick with Kara. We picked up all their bibs, dealt with the issues of them having the wrong names/birthdays on them, and picked up some shopping. It definitely wasn’t crazy as it had been earlier that day, so I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with that. Pearl was showing us how long the lines had been and it was INSANE. So, take note, you can feel free to go later in the day and deal with ¼ of the amount of people!


Pearl was off at this point to spend the night at her boyfriend’s, while Kara & I waited for a bus to the Boardwalk! Tonight was the only night we had to see Fantasmic, and I’d really wanted to see it, so we walked over to Hollywood Studios! I will totally admit that we were both feeling pain from wearing shoes we weren’t used to (can’t wear Toms in winter in Canada!) so we definitely walked barefoot most of the way…especially since Kara was running in the morning!


We were meeting another Canadian over at DHS, and THANK GOODNESS we were because we were running late. Becky ended up being able to get in and save us seats while we were on a hunt for FOOD! Knowing DHS didn’t have much we decided cupcakes for dinner was totally acceptable…except they didn’t have any Vader ones…and when Kara ordered the BB8 one, there was no BB8 on it, and the guy seemed to not care at all when we asked about it…she wouldn’t have gotten it otherwise… #lesigh


Right as we were reaching Becky, she noticed that a family that was front row and moved, and there was a big open space! YAS! Front row seats! Yay!

Before the show started, Becky was saying that the last few times she’d been to Fantasmic, something had gone wrong, so naturally, when Maleficent’s scene started…she went up…we could FAINTLY see a dragon head…and then it went black…and Maleficent was back, rising up as before…

Bahahahha, I kid, I kid…We all found it HILARIOUS.


We left Fantasmic in hopes of finding a spot for the Star Wars fireworks and were VERY pleased when everyone seemed to BE LEAVING?!?!! Yeah, okay, more room for us! We found a spot and I darted off for food, I NEEDED to eat SOMETHING. I ended up at the Dockside Diner because it was close, and decided on a kids turkey sandwich meal. Well, the girl calls me up, I say hi, ask how she’s doing, you know, the usual “I’M SO HAPPY BECAUSE I’M FINALLY IN DISNEY” pixie dust feeling. I ordered, and as I started to take my money out she went “no honey, you keep that” and closed her til and went behind the counter!


SHE GAVE ME THE KIDS MEAL FOR FREE GUYS!! AND IT CAME IN A HANS SOLO CARBONITE LUNCH BOX!! AND SHE GAVE ME EXTRA COOKIES AND WHEN SHE CONFIRMED I WANTED WATER SHE GAVE ME AN ADULT SIZED ONE!!!


I WAS SERIOUSLY SO IN LOVE LIKE CAN WE BE BEST FRIENDS?!!?


Sorry for all the yelling but it was seriously such pixie dust! I dug out one of the thank-you cards from my back pack and gave it to her and she was EVEN more thankful, like, just the sweetest thing. I honestly have no clue why I got it for free, coulda been that she was just done with dealing with money, coulda been because I was her last guest, very possibly could have been a combo of those two but also that I was actually polite and friendly and asked how SHE was doing.


Be nice. Moral of that story


I VERY HAPPILY made my way back to Becky & Kara and nommed down on my sandwiches and was just super happy as we watched the Star Wars fireworks.

After the fireworks we said goodbye to Becky, let her know our plans for the next day and headed to the busses! We actually managed to get on the first one and it wasn’t too busy. When we got back to the hotel was where the magic quickly ended.


Ya’ll remember that Kara’s battery was still plugged into the wall in the old room, right? Remember that we had called RIGHT AWAY to try and get a runner to go up there to get it? Remember that no one had listened to us or connected us to the right place? And Lost & found was closed? And that I left a very detailed message with a callback number? Oh, and Kara called a few more times during the day to try and track it down…yeah…that all happened.


So we get back, and immediately try to talk to someone about it. We ended up talking to a manager as that was the obvious choice at this point. She checked lost & found and said it wasn’t there, she then said someone had already checked into the old room so they couldn’t check for us… (this is why we called earlier) She asked if we could just go out and buy a new one…uhm..this is a DSLR Nikon camera..they don’t exactly sell them at Walgreens, they’re also EXPENSIVE. We asked if she could please check with housekeeping, would they have it? Do they have a different spot they might keep stuff? We know it’s not going to be at central lost & found, what if housekeeping missed it and it’s still in the room? How early in the morning can you call the room to get them to check?


No help…whatsoever…Kara and I are both upset and grumpy and ANNOYED at this point. Manager goes away and comes back saying that she’s checked and the family has ACTUALLY only done online check in, they’re not actually here yet…we ask her to send a runner up to check for it, and explain where it was plugged in. She leaves, comes back eternities later saying there was nothing there, and there’s nothing she can do for us.


…uhm..okay…nothing? really…absolutely nothing?


Kara’s in tears at this point, I’m getting more and more frustrated, we ask again about housekeeping, manager says that maybe housekeeper found it, put it on the cart & left it there by accident instead of into lost & found but manager doesn’t have access to that, we’d have to wait until the AM manager comes in and hope to find out then (and that still wouldn’t be until the afternoon….) (remember Kara’s running a 5k in the morning…) We explain again that we’ve had absolutely NO help on the entire situation, that we tried to deal with it within 30 mins of leaving the room so that we could ensure it was dealt with, quickly & properly. We explain that Kara & I are both…”amateur photographers” sure..that works…I mean we have no way of saving memories, we explain that Kara is going on her first cruise after this week and would really like to take pictures.


Manager repeats “I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do to help you”


She says that she’ll leave a silent message on our phone if something comes up, I ask for her name, and the managers in the mornings names that she’s passing all this info on to so I don’t have to go through the entire story again 5 times in the morning.


Kara & I make our way up to the room, thankfully Bell Services has already brought up our luggage and all the stuff that needed to be in the fridge was (which I was VERY worried about at this point). By the time we get up there there’s already a message from the manager saying she’s checked the housekeeping carts and it’s not there…yeah…those same carts she didn’t have access to 10mins ago? Okay… Kara & I discussed the numerous ways the situation could have been handled better, where was the Disney way, the Disney magic, something as simple as a Mickey sticker would have helped not leave such a bad taste in our mouths. We vowed at that point we’d never be staying at Sports again…and probs not ANY all stars since they share staff.


Needless to say we were both pretty peeved about life right now, even after such a magical day. I told Kara she could take my camera on the cruise (I use a canon…) and sent out a couple messages to friends in the area to try and find her an extra one, and we had to go to bed with that being our last thing.


Sometime around 2am, ABBY GOT THERE! She barely woke us up through since it was so late and Kara was running in a few hours!

I have not stayed at any of the All Stars. After reading this post, and your troubles with the camera battery, I may not stay at them. I don't know. As much as I love Disney, it seems lately the prices just go up and the service goes down. Hopefully other resorts are doing better.

when Kara ordered the BB8 one, there was no BB8 on it, and the guy seemed to not care at all when we asked about it…she wouldn’t have gotten it otherwise…

Kind of goes along with what I said above. It seems there are more and more cast members who just don't seem to care or aren't happy doing their jobs. Of course it's just a small thing, not having a BB8 on the cupcake, but what I love about Disney is the small things, the little details and little moments of pixie dust.

I dug out one of the thank-you cards from my back pack and gave it to her and she was EVEN more thankful, like, just the sweetest thing.

At least you did get a nice pixie dust story that night. I really like the idea of thank you cards. I might do this on my next trip!

Grr, to All Star Sports! After Howard and my last trip in August, which was entirely spontaneous, we vowed never to stay at Sports again too. It took FOREVER to get our case of water delivered to our room. They kept saying it never showed up and there was no delivery even though I had gotten the delivery confirmation from Staples. One person would say they got it, and then we'd get transferred to someone else who said it wasn't. Howard even went to the front desk to speak to people in person. It was late at night, and I really needed the water to take my medicine the next morning too and didn't want to deal with it in the morning because they were saying it couldn't be delivered. It was so frustrating because if the original person had contacted bell services right away, we wouldn't be up HOPING that we'd get our water. It was also rather irritating that they didn't even offer us ONE water bottle from the food court just to sustain us until it was sorted out. We are never people to demand or expect anything, but that was one instance where I just couldn't help but feel that it wouldn't hurt Disney as a business for them to spare one bottle for me to take my pills (I've actually gotten stomach issues from Florida tap before, so I avoid it if possible).

Finally when Howard someone got to speak to someone higher up (not directly at Sports, I believe), our water was MAGICALLY found and would MAGICALLY be delivered within 10 minutes. We could not believe the back and forth we were getting as we talked to everyone possible who just didn't seem to care! Any other time we stayed at Pop, things were just delivered to our room without having to track it down like this. It definitely left a bitter taste in our mouth.

Yeah...I've stayed at all 3 before and had perfectly fine times, even really enjoyed All Star Movies, but after all the shenanigans this go around it definitely won't be happening again. Exactly!! We had mainly awesome cm's the entire trip, but we did encounter some crabby ones, and naturally, the crabby ones stood out more when we look back on things! Thank you!!! Yeah I was glad the timing had worked out that way, esp since it was our only night available for it!! It was such a headache, I don't understand why it took so long to get worked out, and why no one was willing to help very much!

Exactly!! I mean if she needed double a's that'd be fine, heck even a point & shoot battery wouldn't be that bad but a full on nikon dslr battery, no chance...

Yeah!!! And thank you!! The SW fireworks were great, I imagine the new ones are going to be awesome, i'm excited to see what they end up doing with the new show!! Ugh, I totally didn't,there's a certain part of me that feels like I can't complain because of being a cm, even if we weren't at the time and paid full price to get in and everything. I probably could still but meh...lol

I'm so behind on my WDW news, I didn't even realize they had Star Wars fireworks! I haven't been paying too much attention since my trip in February 2015.

Yay!! Glad you're liking it so much!! And thank you!! I definitely got better shots as the week went on, it had been far too long since I'd used my camera!! Lol.
Yeah!! They kept them going this year after launch bay opened, but new ones are coming next months!

Day 2 began at very different times for all of us! Kara was up and gone around 3:00am for her 5k, I set my alarm for 6:50am and tried to get ready quietly, but definitely woke up Abby by accident just before I left, so I jumped on her for a quick hug before I left! I ate breakfast from the groceries we’d bought and stopped at the food court to ask for a hot water cup for the tea I’d also brought from home. The girl replied with “$2.75” or something like that, and I repeated, no, I just wanted the CUP, she replied “yeah…$2.75”. I was deeply confused because cups of water are free, and I’d gotten hot water cups for free before, she said it was just the regular cups that were free. Clearly a new policy, and if I was going to pay money for something I’d splurge the extra dollar and get an actual tea or something, not a cup…she was also rude about it, so that was another strike against sports for us.


I managed to actually make it to Magic Kingdom with time to spare before rope drop, and despite being worried about crowds, thee was actually a ton of space, everyone was off crowding the park entrances! There was EMH that morning, but they only scanned the band I had my ticket on, not the hotel band…so…there’s that!

I can’t remember this guy’s name right now, but it was him doing the opening speech instead of the mayor today! Besides, we all know the Trolley kids are the stars of the show, bahaha. Cassy was out in Trolley today too, which was super exciting to see!

Welcome Show over I sent some extra waves & loves to Cassy & co, and slowly joined the masses heading inside the Kingdom. Naturally, everyone went racing off to other lands, and I was left with a nice peaceful and relatively empty Main Street!

Those are some of my favorite pictures, everything just worked out fantastically, and the Roy Statue is one of my favorite things! It’s insane how many people have no idea who he is when it’s really thanks to him that everything exists, okay, well, collaboration of him & Walt, but if it was just Walt, there would never be anything because Roy knew how to deal with all the money! While I was taking these, there were a couple of super sweet Japanese tourists in the area that asked me to take a picture for them, and I happily obliged! They were SUPER friendly and thankful and it just made me super happy and so excited for our Asia trip this fall!

I seriously LOVE the new Hub area SO MUCH, like, it’s gorgeous, and that Hub grass makes for the most perfect hangout spots on days that aren’t too hot.

I headed around the castle towards Fantasyland, my priority this early morning was to get some nice photos and get my booked signed as much as possible to not have to lug it around anymore! I’d made fast passes that morning and even managed to snag one for Anna & Elsa! I knew I needed to see Alice, but she wasn’t going to be out yet, so I took some hedge pictures instead. Lol.

Meanwhile, Kara had gotten up, and headed off to the 5k (a few hours before I was even awake obviously…) Her costume for today was Flounder, so she’d jumped in line to see Ariel & Eric, and the attendant had cut the line RIGHT at Kara! Ariel wouldn’t have that though and was all “NO! WHAT ABOUT FLOUNDER?!” Adorable.

Kara & I had been texting a little bit around now and she said she had finished the 5k and was on the way back to the hotel! WHAT?! Seriously this girl’s insane. I mentioned that I’d seen runners coming back when I was on my way down to the bus, and Kara said she would’ve been one of them had she been in an earlier corral! Insane!


It was still super early so on my Fantasyland adventures I figured I’d pop through Fairytale Hall with a minimal wait and still have time to make it back for Alice.

10 points to anyone who can figure out the Disneybound I had for the day! Cinderella was lovely as always, and commented on how lovely it was to see me again since we’d just reunited the day before! She commented on my outfit and asked if the mice helped sew it.

Rapunzel was cute and polite enough but very to the point and rather quickly the interaction was over.

I just wanted the CUP, she replied “yeah…$2.75”. I was deeply confused because cups of water are free, and I’d gotten hot water cups for free before, she said it was just the regular cups that were free.

That is just not right! You shouldn't have to pay for hot water! The only thing I can think of is maybe those cups have the chip in them to limit the number of refills?
