"Dream Weavers" September 1, 2011

Oh my,,, this is so funny.... I'm probably staying at Port Orleans from jan -6to11th for the marathon. Weve stayed at SSR many times and also love it there. Very different from some of the other DVC resorts. Very relaxing!!!! Great access to DTD. Unforetunately the marathon weekend is not a DVC vacation for me since I'm not going with the family but a group of friends instead. The bright side to that is that I'm headed back to WDW to stay at AKV on jan22 with the family.

Alex, can I just say I AM JEALOUS!!! Two trips the same month. That's great. I assume you are a DVC member? What is your 'home' resort. We just bought in two years ago (kicking ourselves for not looking into it sooner, especially when our dd was a cm there).

Yes, we are very proud DVC members!!! We absolutely love it! We have two home resorts. AKV and SSR and talking about adding a third into the mix.
Being a member has really opend up many opportinities for us to travel down the WDW several times year. How can you not luv it. Although we do not use our DVC for DCL. I don't see the value.
We'd love for our eldest DD to do the same program as yours but its a little more tricky since were canadians:confused3
Funny enough we have made some great friends from all over north america through our DVC trips and some of us always travel at the same time of year so we get together once or twice a year in the World

I think as Canadian, that would make her an 'international' student and they have to commit to a full year (at least that's how it was a few years ago). I'll tell, it was the most amazing experience for our dd and she has friends from around the world that she met there. I would suggest it to any college student who loves Disney.

Oh my daughter wouln't have problem committing to a year... she luvs Disney. Getting her home woul be the problem.
Certainly pass along any tips or info you may have on this program it woul be greatly appreciate. DD is only in first year high school so there is plenty of time, but she is very very goal oriented.
How about me????? I'd like to do it:banana::banana: LOL

Alex, I made friends with another CP mom and we both said that so often, how much we'd love to do the program :)

I wonder how many adults went back to school just so they could join the Disney College Program??:rotfl:

As much as I'd love to do that, I don't think I could leave my family for four+ months.

Love the pics Realfam! Well we have cancelled our b2b the 4 night part and are just doin the 3 night. We are staying at the cbr for 6 nights before the cruise, with the grandkids starting back to school this was the only option with staying at disney as well. Also now have a friend joining up with us, it will be her first cruise and first trip to disney. Dh and I are booked on the 7 night eastern Jan 29 . just the 2 of us for that one! Im just a little nervous about the cruise on the dream with the weather, its got me wondering if we should change the date to December when the kids are out of shool for xmas holidays, especially since this is a first time cruise for the rest of my family other then 2 of my granchildren we took last November. I guess its just a hit and miss and have to hope for lots of pixie dust for calm seas!:cool1:

First off, sorry you had to cancel your b2b. Some day we hope to do one, but it's just too much right now.

As for canceling the September trip for December, it's a personal preference. September is a LOT less expensive than December. We worried about the storms the year we cruised and flew in the day before to be safe, but it looks like you'll already be in Orlando for your pre-cruise trip. Other than the one night when it was real rocky, we never knew there was a hurricane out there. We had beautiful sunny skies. It is hotter in September than December. unfortunately. Hope you don't cancel, but I can understand your fears.

We originally had the same question about December versus September, but ultimately decided September would work best. As the pp mentioned, the cost is significantly different. We would have purchased an inside stateroom in December for about the same cost as our verandah room in September. Also, in terms of weather, I was more concerned about December snow storms than September hurricanes. We get ice storms in North Carolina, which makes driving tricky. And for those who would be flying, airport delays could put a real kink in your plans! Cruise ships can always navigate around storms, but it's hard to navigate around ice and snow! In addition, I was very concerned about being confined on a cruise ship during flu season in December. So for all those reasons, we chose September, even though my daughter will be missing the early part of the school year.

But it is a personal preference, so best wishes with whatever you choose!

well so far I think we are gonna stay with August and hope for the best,it is a better deal and we are getting a balcony which if we chose December we may not have gotten. Im probably worrying for nothing as it really is only the grandkids Im worried about being scared. But then again they will be having so much fun they may not even take notice lol:goodvibes Thanks for all your comments I do feel better after reading them:thumbsup2

Glad our little tips were able to help calm come of your fears.

We have cruised several times just after labour day and don't let hurricane season bother you. We think its the best time of year to cruise. Our experiences have shown us that if we get into rough waters the captain and crew has sailed us through them tosmooth water with in a few hours. We have also experienced the crew while navigate the ship to stay away from rain. So there's always Disney magic happening!
No worries.....

Yes my mind is made up, we are sticking to this date! Thanks for all the input it has made a difference and helped me make the final decision. I know the weather may be a factor but we will hope for suuny skies and smooth sailing!

All right ladyleslie!!! Good for you on deciding to do the back to back......were doing it as well!
Our family had no problems with the rough seas, we had an early sitting for dinner so we were in the dinning room filling our faces while others were being sick.......
Its good to be sailing with you too again, I must say the FE group lat months was crazy considering there was only about 5 of us.
My family will always jump at the opporunity to do FE, as your listenig to our CD we have got the home made DCL piggy bank (not sure who made it) in our kitchen for all of our next cruise(s). Always looking forward to our next cruise.
Were waiting for DCL to announce there 2012 dates so we can make /transfer (the dummy date we booked in sept) . I think will book the week before labour day 2012 again. Great time to sail! The earlier you book, the cheaper it is.

I was so worried they wouldn't go over wellI am so glad you liked the piggy bank - I had such a hard time with it - wanting to be crafty but having not a crafty bone on my body - and mailing them ahead of time was some nail biting moments .......
