Dream: May 22, 2011

Hi there,
I know I've been such a slacker.

Thats alright! This is me most times ~~~~> :surfweb: between work and school and kiddo and well, people.
Ok, the devil is officially serving sno-cones. I dug out my winter coat. Currently out the backdoor of my house, it is a positive 1 degree. The low for tommorrow is a -12F for an ambient temperature. Thus, Shamefully, I dug out my winter coat. It has been in a box in the closet for three years...... (i even claim I dont OWN one! :scared1:) 120 miles east of me, their ambient low for tommorrow is -20F (ish...) I think I'm diggin the neg 12...

Hope everyone that got hit with the snow in the east, and the water in the west, are doing okay! I know that a lot of people up here are seriously wondering about this so called "global warming" thing.....

Weeks like this, really really make me want to have the time speed right the heck up for our cruise! But I still need to figure out what my FE gift will be! *GASP* the horrors! I havent figured out what to do yet! :rotfl:

I am with you on speeding up time. Right past tax season would be perfect :goodvibes

I can't help but check out all the new info and videos of the Dream on the DCL website. They have some new ones up showing the spa and the kids club that someone posted this week.

just wondering here..... will there be any times where people who post things on the disboards or who are on the FE list to meet when on the ship. will there be a time frame where we could meet and put a face to the posts, or where we could let our children meet each other. i have a 6 year old and will not have any other children with us and it would be nice if she could get with another girl around her age that would not have a friend with them also. i am sure she would meet someone while at the pool or somewhere but it would be nice if she could have a friend to say hi a time or two on the disboard before we boarded.:surfweb:

Mel, this is one of the reasons that the "meet" was created. There will be a face to face onboard (3pm if I remember correctly) and if you are staying in the port area, there will be a "pool meet" while everyone waits for my sorry butt to get in! (yeah I know, Im dreaming!) As far as any other activities, I am not sure about.... thus far I think its the official meet onboard and the one by the pool at CI&S the night before

it will be a lot of fun meeting all you guys.

Just back today from a few wonderful days in Myrtle Beach. Ate lots of good seafood, shopped!!!!, Don went golfing, weather was decent - sunny, daily temps were 55, 63 and 68.....sooo much warmer that what we were used to. Hope you all had a great New Years.

I want to shoot my truck. In all fairness it was -12 for a while. I was not paying attention to my antifreeze in the radiator or the overflow resivor. My fuel line froze on the first. Had to tow my truck (funny, nissan frontier towing a dodge ram) and the hilarity ensued. Fires right up today...... in a positive 8 degrees. Run down to the gas station. Run it halfway home, a mile and a half from home, my radiator blows. Spitting antifreeze out the front of the truck. The ice broke the weld between the side of the radiator and the crossover fins.... damned aluminum radiators anyway!
Right now, the radiator is out of the truck, and waiting on the local parts store to get a new one in. Its going to take about 150 for the radiator, 40 for new hoses, 40 for another block heater, and about 30 for antifreeze..... UGH. If this is how my year starts, im not sure I want to know how it ends! LOL:mad:

I agree Mel, we are looking foward to meeting you also. I think 3pm is the right time. We'll have to find a good spot on the Dream to have it.

The pool party on Sat. night is really karaoke rehearsal/auditions. Does anyone have a "Mr.Microphone"? Looking forward to that serenade!

Naomi, not sure if you drink, but your first round is on me! :drinking1
Montana is brutal!

Even though I dont USUALLY drink, after this, once it is all said and done, I may drown my sorrows of the pocketbook hit in a bottle of good booze! LOL Funny, after it being "too cold to snow" most of us were walking around outside in sweatshirts and down vests.... in 8 degrees, because it was "warm" :rotfl:
At this point, all I can do is laugh. I had the presence of mind, to grab my cell phone and snap a picture. This is after it was done pure SPITTING fluid, and was just misting......... It is kind of funny though.

Oh and as far as MT being brutal? This is my friends' old semi truck. This is what a half second of inattention, an empty flatbed trailer, 500 feet of guardrail, and five trees can do to a semi...... On dry pavement. luckily the driver walked away only needing 9 stitches, and some neosporine on some abrasions. His dog climbed out of the side of the sleeper without any assistance.

very fortunate the driver didnt hit another car, and that he walked away.

Very lucky indeed. He got his trailer hung up on the guardrail, and since he wasnt loaded, he couldnt use the trailer weight in his favor to pull him off, trailer slid on the rail for about 300 feet, tractor went over part of the rail at about 350 feet, punched through at some point, and he split between a small grove, and one of the trees opened up the cab and sleeper like a can opener. One of the trees snapped back upright just after the sleeper, between it and the headache rack, and sheared the passenger side headache rack off. That Rack is to absorb the impact of a load if it shifts and slides forward, so hypothetically the load doesnt go sliding through the tractor at full speed.....

WOW, Naomi, sorry to hear about your truck and your friend appears to have been very lucky that he got out with just "minor" injuries. I can't even imagine what you guys put up with in your section of the country in the winter months. But you do live in some of the most beautiful territory. I'm sure the summer makes up for it.
I think after the radiator dilemma, you definately deserve(d) a good drink or two.

Melmathis - I'm hopping we can all get to meet each other during the cruise.
Once we start getting some firsthand info from the dream it should be easier to pick a meeting spot. Can't wait.
