Dream June 1, 2014

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself as it looks like my family is joining you on this cruise! I requested to join the facebook group as well. I may have some questions at some point for all of you experienced cruisers! It will be my, my DH and our DS who will turn 3 about 2 months prior! We originally booked an Alaskan cruise with DCL for next May, but realized on our vacation this year (a road trip to TN & SC) that he wakes up before sunrise when he's not in his own bed. So we started freaking out about the time difference in Alaska, not to mention the unpredictability of flying for the first time for 5+ hours and first cruise for 9 nights with a 3 year old! We would have been so disappointed to cancel so we decided this shorter cruise, in our own time zone, was the perfect solution! We could even drive if the thought of flying with DS3 is too stressful! As much as I want to go to Alaska I really feel a weight lifted off my shoulders when I think of this new cruise! I have only been on one carnival cruise when I was a teenager and this will be the first cruise for DH & DS. We are also thinking that while we're in FL we might as well go to WDW too so we're hoping to do that for a day or two before the cruise. I went to MK & Epcot when I was 6, and back to Epcot at 19 so I have a lot of catching up to do on all the changes since then! This will be the first time for DH &DS! I always thought we'd do WDW when DS was a little older, but I'd hate to miss the opportunity while we're in the neighborhood!

At this point I'm leaning towards not doing the FE (one less stress for my now stress-free vacation!) but what is the deadline to sign up? I'm thinking DS won't even notice, or we might just give him his own little FE gifts if we think he would care, but as it gets closer maybe I'll change my mind.

Welcome to the group!!!!

We haven't set a deadline for FE, I am thinking March 1, 2014, that will be a full 3 months prior to sailing.

LauraDar, I think March first is a good date. This way, those of us taking part in it, will have enough time to make or purchase the FE gifts.

I hope that those that do join, feel that this is for fun and should not be stressful... That would defeat the purpose. Let's make this fun and memorable!:cool1:

I keep reading other posts where guests have had pillowcases autographed by characters. Does anyone know if this is still the case? :mic:

Two more adults for Fish Extenders:) My sweetheart is a kid at heart, so this will be a surprise for him. This is his second cruise and my third. The trips to parks are too many to count.
Happy New Year to everyone.

I am in a quandry trying to decide on a hotel in the Port area, seriously thinking about Hampton Inn, any opinions??:confused3

Hi everyone!! So our family has decided to take the plunge and just booked our very first cruise pirate: There will be four of us to include myself (38), DD
(21), DD (14), and DD (8). I am super excited and all weekend I did nothing but research all about the ship, shore excursion, FE (Which I would like to sign up for), and anything else you can think of. I am a Disney aholic and we typically take a vacation there every year or so but decided to switch it up a bit this year!! I cant wait to chat with you all because my kids think I overplan and have lost my mind. BTW it is great to see a few people on here with teenagers and DD younger...My DD (14) is devestated because she will have no phone and insists she will not meet anyone.

Also just sent FB request!!

I am not sure where to post this (or if I already said), but we will not be doing the FE this cruise. Thanks! Hope everyone has an awesome time. :)

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be on this cruise and would like to join in on the FE gift exchange. Our cabin number is 8662, no children, just us. This will be our 5th cruise on the Dream.

We are sailing on the Magic for the first time in March which will complete our grand slam and I am excited about that. So far I love all the Disney ships I've been on and I know I will feel the same about the Magic.

I look forward to chatting with you all the next few months.

Hi everyone! We are also due to set sail on the 1st of June! CAN NOT WAIT!!!!! :cool1::cloud9: It can not get here soon enough for us.

Anyway, this will be our first Disney cruise, but not our first cruise. We too are also located on deck 7 up by the bow.

I am thinking of joining the Fish Extenders, but I have a couple of questions. Do you do the gift every night, or just one night? Also, is there or will there be a limit to how many people join?

I personally give out my gifts on one night. Some people choose to hand out their gifts everyday, so it's a personal preference. I've done the FE exchange on my past 7 cruises and we have had anywhere from 15-35 families participate. I've read that on some cruises if there is a large number of participants, the groups decided to split the list. We will know the number of families that want to participate in the FE by March 1. In the past anyone who wanted to join after the cut off date would simply start a new and separate list.
Hope this info is helpful to you.

Thank you Sherrie!!! That was very helpful! Now to decide if it is something we will do. I would like to do it, but I took an inside stateroom...it is down a small secluded hall...and I'm not sure people will be able to find it. I didn't know about this when I booked or I would have asked for a different room. I was only thinking about how little we will be in our room. :rolleyes1

Don't let your room location discourage you from participating in the FE. I know on some cruises, someone here on the boards would actually print out the room locations on the deck plans for everyone participating to make it a little easier to find the rooms. Maybe someone in our group knows a lot more about computers than me, and will be so kind to mark each participating room location and share that with us. If not, then once we know your room number, I can look on the deck plans to see where your cabin is located and can describe to others how to get to your room to deliver the gifts.

That would be great. We are in stateroom 7023. It is towards the bow and in the middle (between starboard and port) by the front elevator. Does that make sense? It also doesn't matter what the gift is? Like key chains, pirate loot, etc.

Also, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

Your room location makes perfect sense. I've delivered gifts to inside staterooms plenty of times. Your room shouldn't be too hard to find.

It doesn't matter what kind of gifts you give. Some families are crafty and make their gifts. Some give something related to the area they live in. Others order their gifts from places like Oriental Trading, etc. I have enjoyed all the gifts I have received. It's the thought that counts. Pirate loot is always a big hit!
