Dream April 14,2011

We like the end of the boardwalk, have always stayed at Quality Inn on 5th street. It is NOT worth the money, but the beach is quiet there, clean and there is a wooden handicap walkway clear out to the ocean, which is so great. We usually get trolley passes and spend the evening doing most of the free entertainment in town(magician(kids love him), comedian, balloon art, mustic, ect...) This year we are going to try the other end of the boardwalk. Holiday Inn Sunspree. They are redoing their pools and promise 2 water slides, 2 lazy rivers and a big pool. All remodeled rooms. Only problem it isn't quite done yet.. saying opening in July. Since we were going in July I emailed HOliday Inn management and they could not give me a specific date. By August you should be fine. I can give you an update after our July trip. A nice place to stay is Dolphin Run Condominums, but they have an indoor pool with an open roof and the kids liked the pool better at the Quality Inn. The are beautiful condo's with full kitchens, 2 baths. Rent sat-sat I believe. I know lots of good restaurants if you decide to go there. They really need to start getting more accomodations like Myrtle Beach there. We just like it as it is 3 hours closer, and enjoy the fireworks at the beach(twice a week) and free entertainment. There are a few new springhill suite places that just opened but they about $300+ anight!

We only paid $176 for the comfort Suites in Nassau in November, it was really a great deal. Just got to keep checking the site. We got that rate with a AAA discount.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the info! Please post if you see a great deal on Comfort Suites.

Realizing this is a short cruise (3 nights) are we up for a Meet & Greet and/or Fish Extenders, Gift Exchange, etc...??

I am fine for a meet/greet. Last time we met by the pool around 3pm and it was great. The kids could swim and the adults could chat! I am passing on the fish extender. While it was great fun last time, it just too up too much luggage space for us. Since Daddy isn't cruising, gotta pack as light as possible as the girls are pretty much forced at one point or another to help with luggage. Might get some other takers though.

Hi,
We are in for M&G and FE. Our daughter loves surprises, even if it's just a little something.

M&G is great---I've seen FE but don't really know much about it, sounds like fun though.

Does anyone have second seating for dinner??

You can count us in if anyone else wants to do it. Atleast people are responding on this cruise, on my first one April 10th noone really talking or responding.

We thankfully have first. My husband has to take his lunch break at 11am, so we eat dinner every night around 4pm!! We would die with late dining, waiting till 6 is a struggle....lol

same here - I eat snacks/very light lunch during the day and i am ready "to eat the whole zebra" around 4pm, which is our dinner time on school/work days. We have to have early dining:banana:

I am excited about specialty dining options on Dream but it would be hard to squeeze it in...Lunch/dinner at Palo = must try! Oooo, i wish i could be there right now....:worship:

No problem - keep posting, I am always checking and responding, that is how I got "addict" status attached to my name :lmao: As we get closer, we will have more families checking in. We are a great group, and i can't wait to meet you all!:grouphug:

These boards can become a bit obsessive. :surfweb: The more you know though the easier it is once our day finally arrives. I have been "thinking" of taking a cruise or WDW late august before the kids go to school. Kinda of just feeling like they need a perk right now after my mom passing(or is it "I" need perk). But decided against the heat!. Two years ago we took the kids to New York City for a long weekend and loved it. WELL.. found roundtrip airfare to LGA for only $128 round trip! So as soon as I get ahold of my sisterinlaw, going to book it. Going to go when they are off on a Friday in November, so will be there from Thursday to Sunday. Now gotta find a place to stay! New obsession for me.

We're second dining folks---matter of fact, we just finished dinner. With DS crazy activity schedule and DH job...well, throw in there my new obsession with Zumba after work :woohoo:...makes for a late dinner time.

I love Zumba! :thumbsup2 but i try to eat an hour or two before i go :cool1:

It is interesting: we live 20 min from NYC, but we never think about spending a weekend there, we always look somewhere else (PA, NJ, CT...) may be we should look closer (and we will save money on gas ) :yay: There is so much to see and so much to do here! Where are you flying from? Let us know when you are here - may be we will be able to meet and introduce the girls to each other!

We went 2 years ago for my oldest dd's 9th birthday. We did the american girl store, Today show, Top of the Rock at Rockefellar Center, Ice skating a Rockefellar Center(ahh.. so much fun) and there was a food network show in town. She LOVES to cook and watch the Food Network Channel and we went to Chelsea Market and did a book signing with Giada and met Rachael Ray at a Kid's cooking show. I also "ran into" Donald Trump.:rotfl2: Cute story actually we walked into Trump Tower at 7pm on a Saturday night and he was standing right there. While my sisterinlaw took the kids on the escalator, I stood to the side with a couple of others watching "the Donald". Next thing I know he is coming right towards me. I am thinking, "oh no, I am going to have to say something to him"... so my genius mind says, "well hello there(real clever eh, we were about a foot from each other) He says, "hello DARLING how are you?" I don't even think I answered him, I just about died laughing at his comment. The rest of the trip I made the girls call me DARLING. We also did Times Square, Central Park and some shopping. This trip we are going to go to Statue of Liberty, ride the double decker bus, eat at a nice restaurant in Central Park and maybe see a play. Since we do a girls only Disney trip every November and aren't this year..... I thought when November rolls around, I will be sorry we are waiting for the Dream...... so this little trip should fill in that void and give us some "patience" for the Dream.

scootch--your story about 'the Donald' is too funny. We're just an hour or so train ride from NYC and I've barely seen any of it--saw Phantom of the Opera once and the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. I would love to spend a couple of days there. We hope to get there this summer to see the King Tut exhibit at Times Square.

The Donald thing will stay with me forever, haha... everytime we see him on TV we laugh! Bus trips to NYC are very popular here. They leave at midnight and drive, getting there around 8am... spend the day there on their own, shopping, sightseeing, whatever, then leave at 10pm and drive back. I am way too old to do this! :rotfl: And our flights ended up only $127.50 round trip. Delta gave me $300 credit this past december after I wrote them a letter about how my mom's oxygen was never checked correctly on our return flight. My brother used them and gave me the $300 in cash.... thus making my flights really on cost $82.50!! My sisterinlaw will split transport cost to/from airport and hotel with me, so won't be quite as expensive of a trip. We really had a great time on our last visit.

OK ladies, i feel really bad now - we go to NYC primarily for K's ballroom dances and to theaters once in a while. You encouraged us to spend more time exploring it, especially bs we are only 20 min drive away. Our son is NYU student and he finally started appreciating NYC. If you visit during school year: check our New Victory Theater, they have amazing shows for great prices. Phantom of the Opera is my favorite! "Wicked" is great! "Mary Poppins" would be great to see, and fits into "Disney" team!

Did anybody see any new updates on Dream? I have been waiting to see something new on FB, but nothing since they posted "the final piece".....

Keep on DREAMing good dreams!

I am dying for some more updates on our Dream . The good thing about having to wait so long now for some info about our ship is that the last few months before our cruise will fly by when all the reviews and pics, etc come out.

On the other hand, I read all about the FE and the exchange which sounds like so much fun. I'm in!!! My DH thinks all of us Disers have huge issues . Sigh, poor guy just doesn't get it :confused3.
