Dream a Little Dream: May 8-12, 2011

OK, I'm confused  which is not unusual at times. So on Feb 22, I can obtain my boarding time? I bet by then most of the early times will be gone.

Anyone getting "cold feet" about this cruise? I tend to be a worry wart but there are many posts about how disorgazined the ship is and there are long lines for everything.

Not worried at all...Disney is great at this stuff. I bet they save a few of those time slots for 1st timers. The ship is very organized. You will be surprised. I can tell you the 1st time out it was not only the new ship but the changes they made at the terminal and the raised security for the just in case. But now that the changes have happened and the terminal is growing with a parking deck and such. It will be fine. Just make sure you are paid in full like the week before or even the day before. Then log online at midnight. You will be done very quick and you are set to sail. No worries be happy.

I am a Type A, worry wart. My sister is getting married on the cruise, which is exciting, but I want everything to schedule out perfectly for us and there are so many unknowns. I am reading about the disorganization, the Aqua Duck not working, AP not working. I don't know the repeat dining days, etc. so I can't schedule Palo for all of us.

But Disney excels at customer service. They have 3 months to work things out and I bet everything workable will be worked out by May 8th. I believe that. I expect each month more and more magical posts and trip reports will be coming.
I like this thread the best. You all seem to be a positive, yet practical group. I should stop combing through all the new Dream posts daily and just wait for one of you to tell me the Navigators are finally posted and get back to worrying about --do I rent a car for the week or just a day? What day should we go to which parks? How many days do I have left on my passes anyway? Who is going to watch the dog? You know all the regular stuff. And put a hold on the micro managing of the cruise for a little while longer.

Ok this post is for all you out there with worry on the mind. :goodvibes Be happy you are sailing on the Disney Dream.
I want to ease your mind so below is how my family is dealing with the wait. I hope some of this helps.

1. make a count down paper chain counting the days down. Every night take one link off.

2. Make dinner time family planning time. Turn off the tv and sit around planning a day at a time.

3. If your family is going to the parks get the Walt Disney Guide for kids. It is written by kids and has some neat facts in it.

4. make a packing list I know this sounds funny but then you can make a shopping list. And pick stuff up a little at a time.

5. Plan Disney Dinners...We do it on sunday. Make Mickey mouse pancakes or mickey cookies. Look on line for your fav meal from your last trip and try to make. Good morning america has some of the new meals on the dream with the how to.

6. Have the kids work on letters to their class telling them where they are when they will be back and what they are doing. We also are putting in the long and ladit. of the trip so they can follow us on the global.

Make this waiting fun and time will pass fast. Dont worry about the issues this is Disney they will have all those little things done by May. Hope this helps.:cheer2:

Evening folks! After spending most of the day clearing a foot of snow and ice we are definitely ready for the Bahamas!!! Wow, this weather is unreal! Hears to beautiful weather in May for our cruise! :beach:

AllEarsNet has navigators posted from the madien voyage:

http://allears.net/cruise/ships/dream/navigators/maidenvoyage.htm

This was a 4-day cruise, so the ones for our cruise should be similar. I'll keep searching for others and will post any info I find for everyone here.

Edit: So far, they only have the one posted for the first day, maybe more will be coming.

We have 5 foot snow drifts today...It is unreal. No school today and they are closed for thursday too.

:worship: Thanks for the previous info.

So, if I understand well, it would be better to pay in full at least a bit earlier. O.K., I can do that. :goodvibes

What stresses me out is more about the kids activities. DD11 lives with special needs and I really would like her to participate in as much activities as she can deal with. But if I understand well from other threads, I have to register her somehow before the cruise if possible and not wait to be at the port or in the boat. :confused3

Anybody knows about registering kids for their activities? (Tween stuff) Do I have to ask our TA to do it or is it online? How far in advance?

1000 thanks again for your wonderful help, you're :littleangel:

:tinker:Poussière de fée!

I am happy to hear the info helped....ok from what I know and how it was done on wonder and the magic. You only sign your kids up for the club. Once you get on board there is a time to sign up for the programs. My kids are not that old. But when they have sailed in the past you read you naviagtor and you see what the programs are for the day. If you need to sign up they will say when and where. Otherwise it is just show up and take part. I will check for you when I online check in on Monday. I do not think it has but you never know. Do not worry about this little stuff they always work with the kids and the parents. They want the kids to get to do as much as they can. I know the castaway cay teen adventure you do have to book ahead of time. But yes paying for it in full now will be worth it.

ok well today will most likely be a much slower day of posts since most of us are back at work. I should say most of you. I was thinking last night will we hit a 1000 posts by the time we sail. Only 3 months away now. We fly out in 89 days.

It has also happened to me on every board I am a member of...I always tell my self it will come back. It normally does there as been maybe 1 or 2 times I have had to make a new one.

Usually this happens becasue the web server (disboards, my vacation magic) that's linked to the countdown ticket is down. Once its rebooted, the tickers reappear.

Everyone looking forward to the weekend? We've had rain most of today which will continue through tomorrow. At least, its not snow and ice!:yay:

Do you guys know that we have one of the longer threads for DCL cruise meets? Some of the other threads for May 2010 cruise dates are only three to four pages.

Ok I really need this time to go by faster...I can not wait right now. Today was the start of the weekend...and let me tell you what happened. I broke a tooth. Found out it was a wisdom tooth so they pulled it right away..my mouth now hurt like I was hit in the face with a hockey puck. And looks like it too. I hope it feels better soon cause this just down right stinks.

At least I guess it happened now instead of on the ship.

Oh jeez, that stinks! I hope you feel better soon. Ouch.
I hear you about time going faster. The severe winter weather here in NY this year is making the wait seem even longer. We have cruised in May before and I can tell you that the weather was PERFECT. Beautiful skies and seas. We cannot wait! :yay:

Thanks I hope in the morning it feels better. Yes I am with you and this winter making these days go super slow. We have sailed in may before too and I think it is the best time of year to sail.
We too have had bad weather here this week in chicago and I am hoping all this white stuff goes away fast. :cheer2:
