Dream a Little Dream: May 8-12, 2011

Yes I am with you there. I already did a rough figure on my taxes to get an idea of my refund aka spending money. :cool1: I can not wait. Time is going to really fly once xmas goes by. Because then we all will doing taxes, shopping (for the trip) and lets not forget booking our shore days. I am in total planning mode. Is it too early to start making packing lists for the trip and a shopping list?:woohoo:

Happy Holidays to everyone I hope everyone has a great New Year and I can not wait for us all to board the Dream in May.

Any help for ideas for older couple (early 60's) in the Bahamas?

Someone asked if any of us had reservations booked. I did yesterday. I booked Blue Lagoon for me and DD for the 10:30 Swim with The Dolphins on May 9 (hope I have the right day in Nassau!). This is a Dream of mine since I'm a little girl. I also saved $ for this since DD lives with both light Autism and light Cerebral Palsy and dolphins are known to be extra kinds in those circumstances. She is taking swimming lessons right now so she can really enjoy our time with the dolphins.

From what I hear you don't get to swim with them,:scared1: but you get to go in wist deep water with them. If you get the passporter you can read all about it. I am sorry to pass this on. But we really wanted to do it too. My son loves dolphins and we were set to do until I read the report. We are passing. And going to seaworld for the day. I know that way he can touch them and feed them. And will wait for the Dolphin swim until he gets older and he can really enjoy with a swim with the dolphins in deeper water.:woohoo: But heck I could be wrong...Maybe someone else has different info or a review.

We watched videos on Youtube and yes, part of the "swim" appears to be at waist level, but it seems that waist level is more for the "encounter" than the "swim". When I type "Dolphin Swim Blue Lagoon Nassau" we also see people "dancing" with the dolphins in deeper water and being "pushed" on their bellies (they have a name for it I don't remember right now), on what appears to be a bit more than 50' in the said lagoon.

i really wanted to do that, but my grandson is too young; maybe another time...maybe boat rental? is there boat rental? what do you think? :flower3:

It's our first cruise, so I probably am not the right person to answer you. I googled "Nassau" and looked on many Travel Agencies sites to find the info.

I don't remember that there is boat rental but I remember that there are boat rides. I also remember that Atlantis appears to be extremely popular in Nassau. They say that even though it's quite expensive, there is a very beautiful waterpark. Apparently, some people find it les expensive to rent a room at the hotel than to pay the entry fee. Also, and the way they describe it, is that "people are in the aquarium" with surrounding sharks watching them. So, really, it looks like people are walking in a tunnel in the giant aquarium and they are surrounded by sharks, instead of the opposite. It seems neat. That was a very hard choice for us. But finally, the dolphins won. And I'm glad.

Hope this helps, we'll learn as much as you do when we'll be there,

According to everything I read and the pictures I saw, but for a hefty price, you shouldn't be disappointed with Atlantis. Have fun!
