Dream - 6/20/12 - 4 nt - Great Start to the Summer of 2012!!! FE #217 DIS Meet #216

Hey Jan,

Not familiar with this particular shoe or the exact store. :confused3 If you find out any more info, I don't mind going by the store to check out the exact styles/prices for anyone!

Just let me know:cool1:

Thanks for your offer, Nicky. Sue and I will keep looking online. I'll contact Shirley from the Perfect Gift, also. I'll be in Cocoa Beach on 9/30/11 (boarding the Magic on 10/1/11) and may be going up an down the strip looking for Dizzy sandals!

Jan

My girls got them in Cocoa Beach
and said every little shop had them. They came in three colors I think pink, white and black. They are a soft foam/rubber type with 3 rhinestones on the strap od each one. Really cute and comfortable. Sue. Oh and they were $8

It's almost August and we are now 10 months and some days until we board that beautiful ship. After our October 2011 Magic cruise, I'll have to focus on the Dream cruise and check out trip reports, pics, etc. There was discussion on the main DCL board about 5 aft staterooms being noisy. I checked our stateroom and the theater balcony is near our stateroom on deck 4 and staterooms are above us.

Nicky, which restaurant did you have lunch on embarkation day? Can you recommend Cabanas? Not too fond of Beach Blanket/Topsiders on the Wonder and Magic.

Jan

Actually booked this cruise back in March! Once I got my DH to agree to do a cruise, I had to book quickly as the availability for a family of 5 was already limited and $$ rising every week, even at more than a year out. Last year was our first family trip to WDW and I'm wanting to plan a Disney vacation about every other year. I started out just booking the cruise, but now we are also planning to spend 4 days in the parks too. Since we have a 12+ hour drive, might as well knock out the WDW trip too!

This will be our first cruise. It will be (kids age = age @ cruise time):

Me: Laura
DH: Scott
DS(9): Daniel
DS(6): Jacob
DS(5): Ryan

Haven't decided yet if we'll do the FE.. I want to and my oldest is onboard, and the 2 younger ones will have fun with it, but haven't sold DH on it yet. We may do it whether he wants to participate or not. We'll also have to see what the budget looks like after Christmas & paying off the cruise & parks trip. Part of the reason for only going every other year is that we have everything paid for up front and come home without adding any debt to our household. On our first trip we even came home $600 under budget. :cool1:

Jan,

We had lunch at Enchanted Garden...mainly pasta salads, lamb chops, some other cold cuts all on a buffet. Unfortunately, we only ate at Cabanas for breakfast. The buffet there was always well stocked in the a.m. with everything from eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and bagels to Krispy Kreme doughnuts!!:lovestruc

If the kids were hungry during the middle of the day, we usually hit Mater's Pizza and had ice cream (all on the pool deck). Again, we were so awestruck by the ship, lunchtime would just pass right by before we knew it. We had first seating for dinner, so if we missed lunch we pretty much just kept busy as to not ruin our appetites for dinner.popcorn::

My family and I will be on the cruise. There is my wife and I along with four children (19 - 10). Anyone else looking to rent a cabana on Castway Cay?

Hi! Welcome to the DIS and to our cruise thread.

Haven't thought about booking a cabana yet. I'm cruising on the Magic this October and the cabanas as both beaches are all reserved.

I know we wouldn't want to pay "full price" for the Cabana but I'd like to consider sharing it with another family. I'm not sure how this all works out but I would like to consider it! :thumbsup2 I'm a skin cancer survivor and very pale (likely candidate!) and this would allow me time to enjoy it more and protect my health. ;)

Keep me posted and we can talk about it more later if you'd like (or anyone else)!

:confused3 Well, I guess I missed you again! Hope you had fun in FL and at the F&W festival.

We're back from a wonderful week on the Magic. I am in DCL withdrawal, the usual malady I have following a DCL cruise.

Nicky, we didn't go to F&W at Epcot. We arrived in Orlando on 9/30 and headed to DVC's Vero Beach resort to have dinner at the Green Door restaurant facing the ocean. We booked a 2-bedroom suite at a Residence Inn in Melbourne for Friday. We arrived at port at approximately 11:10 am, checked in, and we were walking on the ship at 11:50 am.

Now I can move into planning mode for the Dream.

8 months 2 weeks before we sail!

Jan

Took the leap and booked a 4 day cruise. 1st time cruise for whole family.
My 10 year old daughter can't wait. I have the countdown app on my phone and we check everyday.

Welcome Stacy and Family :cheer2:

And welcome to DCL and the DIS!

We are almost at the 7 month mark. Time will go fast, hopefully. If you have read through the thread and want to participate in FE exchange, just let me know.

Jan

Welcome aboard Stacy!

This past March was "our" first family cruise as well. We only did the 3 day on the Dream, but we are hooked! Hoping it will only be Disney cruises :lovestruc from here on out.

DCL has become an addiction I've enjoyed since I first sailed on a 4 day Magic cruise in 1999. I feel so fortunate to have had so many memories of DCL cruising. I was on the 10/1/11 Magic and I'm still in post-DCL cruise withdrawal. Getting back to reality has been difficult this time! :sad2:

My DH Dave and I are so looking forward to cruising on the Dream. Within the last month, Dave has decided to retire from Ford Motor and his last day of work will be sometime in March 2012. So, we will be celebrating the new next phase of his life by cruising on the Dream. We are extending our vacation by staying at WDW 3 days before and 3 days after the cruise (thanks to DVC).
