I've got the Dream blues :( We headed to the French Quarter from the ship and as you all know - its been raining hard here in FL due to the depression in the Gulf. We managed to eat at TREX and do some shopping Downtown Disney but got tired of the nonstop pouring so we headed back to the resort to relax.

I cried getting off the ship this morning. It was truly unbelievable and we had such a great time. The ship is beautiful!

It was so nice to meet you guys and Jan - thanks for being our ringleader and I'll be in touch! We miss you and Dave already :(

How many rebooked on board? I did so we could lock in the discount and obc so now I need to make it a real date!

Take care you all - until next time :)

Heather

Ps. Most of our FE gifts are still wrapped waiting for us to open when we get home. We loved the gifts and were amazed they kept coming :) thanks to all you guys for the wonderful and thoughtful gifts!!

Ditto! The gifts were great and the kids got a chance to open everything! Jan, thank you--thank you-thank you for getting it all together.:woohoo:

We booked our next cruise for June 2013 on the Dream, but really want a week on the Fantasy. All the dates we wanted were gone so we just have to keep looking:sad2:

Hope everyone had a great trip! We rebooked a "dummy" cruise, too. We're looking forward to a 2014 cruise on the Fantasy! :)

Wow!!!!! Can I go back and rewind the lasts two weeks????!!!!

Dave and I enjoyed meeting all of you at the DIS meet and around the ship. And, thanks so much for all the FE gifts. :thumbsup2 Thanks to all of you!

The Disney Dream is amazing! I was often asked by CMs whether I preferred the Magic/Wonder to the Dream. My response the first day or so was that I thought the Dream was beautiful but that I preferred the Magic/Wonder. By day 3, my opinion had changed. I have so many fond memories of the Magic/Wonder, but I enjoy the Dream just as much.

Dave and I booked the 11/24/12 Magic and are joining 10 family members on a week long cruise. This granny is excited - to be able to spend about 8-10 days with two of her precious granddaughters! :thumbsup2

We (and our cruise buddy, Carla) also booked the Wonder September 2013 cruise - Vancouver to LA. We will stay on the Wonder to take it through the Panama Canal! 19 days on a ship - can't wait!!!! A nice surprise is that we were able to get a secret porthole stateroom for both cruises!

We had a great 4 days in Key West. We had one evening of rain but mostly enjoyed partly cloudy and breezy weather.

By the way, anyone else in DCL withdrawal???

Please keep in touch with me - my email address is: grananajan@gmail.com and my Facebook name is: Janet Vitti Ziegler.

Thanks again for everything,
Heather

I took a bit longer to unwind in my world.

The day after we sadly had to leave the ship I started my new job at the Gettysburg Foundation (the Gettysburg Battlefield!). As a history buff, I am LOVING my new job!

This cruise was my VERY first cruise ever and I was scared. After a wild first night, the seas calmed down and we had an amazing time.

BIG THANK YOU to Jan for arranging the FE exchange. It was actually fun to run to everyone's cabins everyday to deliver goodies to everyone. I hope that everyone enjoyed them and got them. We had a problem with things disappearing from ours. Someone even tried to take our FE. Luckly I had it attached with a zip tie. The gifts we did get were great!:cheer2:

Otherwise the cruise was perfect. The stateroom steward/host was AMAZING!!!!! :cool1:
We had Ida and he was the most attentive and nicest person on the ship. Our dining server was from Macedonia and was so sweet!:thumbsup2 The head server was funny and kept us laughing.:rotfl2: The drink/asst. server was nice, but very abrupt sometimes. She kept screwing up our drinks or not being very attentive in keeping them filled. The head server called her out on it several times. That could have been the reason for her attitude sometimes.

My only big complaint that was cruise related was Shutters. It was ALWAYS very crowded and trying to find our pictures was crazy. I also did not like the fact that they did not offer the pictures in smaller sizes. I don't use big photo albums. Now I have huge 8x10 pictures and no way to shwo them other then the folders they gave. The cast member was not very helpful either. We pre-paid for 10 prints and only got 5 because they only supposed to be 4x6 prints. The pre-paid info did not state that very clearly. Nor did it state that most of pictures would be 8x10. It was all very disappointing and confusing.

My mom and I are already talking about an Alaskan Cruise next September. We haven't booked anything yet...but we are really talking about it!
I guess you can say we are CRUISERS now!!!! pirate:

It was really great to meet so many of you and share this "Dream" of a vacation.

I hope everyone has a great summer!!!!!:dance3:

Stephanie, I got a chuckle from your comment about the waves the first night of our cruise. I'm not laughing at you, but your comment reminded me of my very first cruise aboard the Disney Magic in 1999 for a 4 day cruise (before the Wonder was sailing). I remember being at dinner the first night and thinking that if the waves were going to continue for the duration of our cruise, I was going to get off in Nassau and fly home! By the next morning, we were close to Nassau and the seas were calm. I had the opposite feeling the first night on the Dream - that sailing away from Florida was smoother than usual. We usually experience waves as we are pulling away from the Florida coast.

Stephanie, congrats on your new job. I have an interest in history and that's one reason why I am looking forward to the Panama Canal cruise. On past PC cruises, I understand DCL has a historian making announcements about the history of the canal as the ship is going through the locks.

Today was my first day back to work after being off for two weeks. I paid for it - worked 12 hours. This old gal is tired tonight!

We were so fortunate with our servers and room steward, as usual. Dave and I ate at Enchanted Garden for lunch the day we boarded. During lunch, a CM approached us and said he was surprised to see us again. Rolando was our server when we were on the Wonder about 1.5 years ago when we cruised with kids and grandkids. We were able to change our dining rotation to have Rolando as our server during the cruise. We were surprised that he remembered us after so much time has elapsed. We also had Helsinki as our assistant server. Jorge was our room steward. He is new to DCL but kept our room in perfection condition. It was a pleasant surprise to see several CMs we know who previously worked on the Magic and/or Wonder. It was great to see that many received well-deserved promotions.

We enjoyed Palo brunch and dinner, although I prefer brunch. Dogan (from Turkey) was our server for both meals. We enjoyed sitting in the Meridien bar before each meal. This bar gave us great views of the ocean.

Thanks again to all for the FE gifts. It was nice to meet all of you at the DIS meet.

Just finished looking at all the FE goodies. Boy we had some creative people and I know I speak for all in our group when I say Thank You! My daughter thought it was "cult" like (it's all you talked about Mom) but changed her mind after seeing all the fun we had. I found future deliveries would be by Forward/Mid/Aft not floors as I got helped by the grands and they "timed" me. I really want to say a BIG THANKS to Jan & Dave for all the work. Just wish I had more time to visit with everyone I met as I felt connections to you all. Since there were 16 of us in our group we had a blast but there were a few disapointments. Also with Shutters can't believe it took us forever to find and take care of business there. I even spoke with the "manager" who I thought was not very Disney nor Customer Service orientated.
We didn't rebook a cruise, as this was our second with the family and since we have retired our last big spending. The kids are already talking about in 2 years as the grands will be older then but I said it's on their dime next time but I'm sure we'll join them. In closing I'll day it was "Truly a Dream."
See me and our photos on Facebook Joan Freeling Nies or Email at jnies@cfl.rr.com.

Thanks for the thanks. We all deserve a thanks. I have never "led" an FE group before and hope everything went smoothly with delivery. Stephanie - did two cabins in your group move during the cruise - cabins 6012 and 6014, I believe?

I want to say again how nice it was to meet as many of you as I did.

For those of you who have seen the play, Dreams, on the classic ships, do you prefer the play, Beleive, on the Dream/Fantasy better? I liked Believe, but am partial to Dreams - as the ending is so different and it is what I am used to seeing on the cruise.

I know what Joan and Stephanie are talking about with Shutters and the chaotic-ness of looking at pics, purchasing, etc. It seems a bit better on the Dream with the folders which house the pics. I, too, have never liked the pic dimensions - 6x8 and 8x10. I would hve thought by now, after 14 years, that DCL would have offered a 5x7 size. I seldom buy pics through DCL but that is one reason I don't purchaes many of them.

We are booked on the PC cruise in September 2013 and I will keep wishing that DCL will discount that cruise. For the December 2012 PC cruise, you can book an inside cabin GTY for $985/person! Great price for a 14 day cruise.

Next weekend (July 13-15), we will be in Indianapolis for my goddaughter, Alyssa, and her cheer team. Alyssa is on a special needs team and they perform rather than compete. Then the last weekend of July, my precious two grandchildren from Morgantown, WV will be with us for a week! Can't wait. Love these mini-vacations!

Have a great 4th of July, everyone. I will be at work for a few hours tomorrow morning, them home for some R&R.
