Dream - 6/20/12 - 4 nt - Great Start to the Summer of 2012!!! FE #217 DIS Meet #216

Welcome aboard Heather and Fam! Looking forward to our trip next summer.

I'm a NC girl from Fayetteville!:cool1:
:wave2: Hi and thanks! Are you guys driving from Fayetteville? We've always flown on our trips and I'm sure this won't be any different but at least if we had the car we wouldn't have to worry about all the "transfers"... Just curious! :) I honestly don't think we could handle the car ride for at least 10 hours - we're spoiled by the flying. :rotfl2:

Are any of yall going to do a excursion in Nassau?? Me and my son have been studying them and I think we are wanting to do the Atlantis Adventure minus the water park (we are going to WDW before the cruise and I added waterparks and more and my son isn't really into water parks so we will skip that part) he wants to go into the casino and check it out (not play just look LOL)...also on CC we were looking at the jet ski excursion..has any1 done this one?? I wouldn't normally do a excursion at CC if this trip were not such a special occasion otherwise we would just hang out on the beach.....

Honestly, we probably won't do any excursions. I haven't really looked into them at this point, however we know we'll probably want more time to explore the ship. We plan to at least get off the ship in Nassau and just walk around the area, then get right back on :) Same goes for CC - we'll explore it for the morning likely and then get on the Dream after lunch and relax more. :lovestruc

I'd love to hear about the upcoming adventures everyone has planned! :thumbsup2

I think I am going to take my step grand daughter with us, maybe... She will be 11 and I think she would have a good time... I think she needs some special time as she will be having baby twins coming this fall so I thought this would be a good thing for her.. She is a mama's girl so I am not sure if she will go but I have put the offer out there, we will see...If she does go we will prob find something else to do for Nassau as the casino will not be for her I thought about maybe doing the water park for me and her and my son can meander around, he is just not a water park guy...I don't know though we shall see..I do think I will keep the jet ski thing a put her on my jet ski...Again we shall see what pans out...:hippie:

ok after reading I see where I put she will be having baby twins, what I obviously meant was baby twin brother or sisters LOL :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hey Heather!

I"m actually just a Fayville native. We now live in Port St John (the Cocoa Beach Area), so we are only about 10-12 miles from the cruise terminal. :)

Yeah, if you were to drive, it usually takes me about 9 1/2 hours to get from Fayville to Brevard County, FL. I'll admit it is a rather long, boring drive from NC on I-95

I'm back!!!!!

DVC's Vero Beach resort is beautiful! We enjoyed the ocean, the pool and the Green Cabin Door restaurant/bar. We were there for three days before heading to DVC's Animal Kingdom-Kidani. Another beautiful resort! I certainly enjoyed starting the 6th decade of my life with a great Florida vacation.

Now, the Disney Dream -- it is big!!!! We drove to Cocoa Beach on Thursday to watch it sail by us at Grills. Now, we are really excited to be waving from the Dream instead of waving from Grills.

Unfortunately, our Florida vacation ended too quickly. I worked one day upon our return, then I took a road trip to Morgantown, West Virginia to visit two of my six grandchildren and their parents. I was there to watch my 6 year old granddaughter graduate from kindergarten! What fun.

Now, I'm making final plans for our next cruise which is coming up in less than 4 months on the Disney Magic. Dave and I will be cruising with one of our daughter's mother-in-law, Carla. Carla and I have cruised on the Disney Magic twice, and we're now "allowing" Dave to join us.

Have a great week everyone. Just about 54 weeks until we cruise together.

Ok I think I'm here. New at this. I'm Sue, or more commonly know as Alyssa's mom. Going with Auntie Jan and Unca Dave next year on the Dream. Oh need to post this for Alyssa. :cheer2:

We booked our cruise a few months ago and have been counting down ever since:woohoo: This is our very first cruise and knew we had to go with DCL. It's just the four of us: Me (Amy), DH (Brad), DD (Josie, 8) and DS (Jacob, 6). Can't wait:cheer2:

Welcome Amy and Family!!! :cheer2:

Crusiing with me is my DH Dave, BF Sue, and Dgoddaughter Alyssa (15 at time of cruise).

Our first cruise was with DCL, as well. Good choice.

Jan, we go to WDW every year and are quite spoiled by the Disney magic so it was sort of a no brainer once my hubby got over the sticker shock! We're going back to WDW in November. That should hold us over til June!

Amy, we booked our first cruise, on DCL, for the same reasons. And, we keep cruising again and again on DCL.

Ok, fellow shoppers - anyone hear of Dizzy shoes, more specifically flip flops? Nicky, is there a shop you know of in Cocoa Beach that sells them? Suzi220's daughters bought some in a small shop in Cocoa Beach a few months ago. If anyone knows of this shop, let me know!!

Thanks!

Jan

My daughters said they sold them at all the small shops along the way. They both love them and I tried them on and loved them too. Very soft but comfortable. I think they said they were only $8.

If you would like to join in the FE exchange, please send me a PM and let me know your Disname, those participating in your stateroom and relationship to you (DH, DD, etc), ages of children, and your room number (if known). It's helpful to know the childrens' genders and ages as some of us do separate gifts for children and we want to make sure we have age/gender appropriate items. Also, please advise of any food allergies/sensitivities.

The cut off date to sign up is May 1.

You decide how you wish to participate in the FEs - one gift per stateroom; one for each person in the stateroom; etc.

For those who aren't familiar with how the FE exchanges work, here are a few threads to get you started!

Delivering FE Gifts - comments from another DISer:
Before leaving home, I organized my FE stuff seperating them by forward, midship, and aft. We had about 18 cabins in our exchange. Since the Dream is so big, I thought this made more sense than doing it by deck.

I was wearing a pedometer when I delivered my FE gifts, and when I was back in my room after delivery, I had walked 1.5 miles to deliver all of my gifts! It took me about a half hour to deliver all the gifts.

I was glad I thought to seperate them by forward, mid, and aft instead of by deck. It took a lot less than it did when I did a FE exchange on the Wonder and seperated them by deck.

Please let me know your thoughts on the above. Hope this info helps.

Hey Jan,

Not familiar with this particular shoe or the exact store. :confused3 If you find out any more info, I don't mind going by the store to check out the exact styles/prices for anyone!

Just let me know:cool1:

Fish Extender Info!!!

I borrowed the following FE info from another cruise thread.

If you would like to join in the FE exchange, please send me a PM and let me know your Disname, those participating in your stateroom and relationship to you (DH, DD, etc), ages of children, and your room number (if known). You decide how you wish to participate in the FEs - one gift per stateroom; one for each person in the stateroom; etc. We can decide later the FE disbribution schedule - that way we aren't all gettnig FEs on the same day.

Hi Jan and group! :cool1:

I'm open to whatever the majority wants to do! I'm assuming we'll need to see how many we end up having and then decide from there if we have and overload and need to break into smaller groups :rotfl: This sounds like so much fun and I love surprising people and getting surprises so this will add that extra touch that Disney does! :lovestruc

Thanks again for doing this for us!
Heather

You're welcome, Heather! It will be fun.

Also, we will have to try to hold a DIS meet the first day on the ship - we have to meet face-to-face after months and months of planning.
