Dream 5-Night March 4, 2012

Trying to get two teenage girls to get organized is like trying to herd cats!

Oh well....did get some things ready today, I have three more days before we leave to figure things out.

I am already considering booking another cruise for next year. I see the Disney Wonder will be sailing on Saturday March 2nd out of Miami (our spring break week). I miss the Wonder and Magic so much! I may just have to book it!

The Dream will be my first cruise but I was originally going to be on the Magic. I honestly was looking forward to starting on one of the original ships, though. I might have to consider one of the Miami sailings next year too if I "magically" have enough money to book that onboard.

Booked this last minute, if you count 3 weeks ago last minute! This will be DS (10) and DD (almost 9) first cruise and DB and my second, the first was Nov 2010 on the Wonder! We absolutely loved the Wonder and regretted not bringing the kids. We have tricked the kids into thinking that they are cruising in May, little do they know that they will be on a boat on Sun:rolleyes1 We told them that we would go to see the boats , go to the beach, and then stay overnight at a hotel. Since we live right outside WDW a trip to the beach is believable. We have been watching the web cams and I have told the kids to get close to the ships we would have to take a shuttle because unless you are going on the ship you can't park there. We are leaving the car with Park N Cruise, it seems like it gets good reviews and half the cost. I am so shocked neither of them has caught on yet, especially my daughter who has already looked through the paperwork Disney sent:laughing:. It looks like there is a great group of people going and maybe not so busy and if anyone would like to give me their Palo brunch Res that would be great:thumbsup2 jj I will definitely be trying to get one of those as soon as I board lol. See ya real soon:cloud9:

I'm not sure what people who never sailed the Magic or Wonder will think of them after being on the Dream. For us, after sailing the Dream we all really missed the old ships. They have a different feel to them.

So if you do 'magically' have enough money, you may want to try the Wonder. It is our favorite ship :)

Bought my Bonine today! I get majorly sea sick so let's hope this fares better than my last Dramamine-fueled cruise, where I literally slept through every other day.

I hope the waters are calm for our cruise. I usually only get sea sick on the 7 night cruises. But in the Bahamas I don't usually have problems except for the first night around the time of second dining when they go through this part of the water that is always rough. If you have early dining you should be done eating by the time we get to that part of the water.

But at least 3 of the days we are docked so it should be night and calm on those days :goodvibes

I'll be in second dining. But if it gets bad, it wouldn't be the first time I excused myself to my stateroom during dinner.

We'll be there too! We are staying at the Sheraton on sat, then doing Port Orleans after the ship for the weekend to Magic Kingdom. Can't wait even though I heard it will be packed. Me, hubby and our 4 year old, and our 16 th anniversary!:cool1:

Hello, I have a favor to ask of someone on this cruise. Would one of you please find out the name and website for a shop right after you get off the ship? After you get off the ship you will walk through a flea market like building. There is usually a band, people selling drinks/snacks and lots of jewelry. There is shop that sells necklaces shaped like flowers and the the flowers are made out of dyed fish scales. Their quite unique and I would like to purchase another one. I think they sold for around $15-20 each. If you go to google images you'll see a young woman wearing a red one. Have fun on your double dip. Thanks so much.

wOh YEAH WE ARE CRUISING thIS WEEKEND! Off tomorrow then 1 more god awful long day at work before vacation. Hope everyone is wrapping up what they need to before hand cuz we are there finally!

Oh my gosh am I excited that I found this site!!

This is our first cruise and I'm nervous to be honest! Your posts are really making me excited though! I'm so glad I found this site.

We are going with our 3 kids....11, 8 and 4.

So excited!!!

5cangleys,
Welcome to this cruise. :wave2: I think you'll love the cruise. The first time cruise is hard because there is soooooo much to learn about. You will end up finding out that there is so much to do and see. I recommend you all just take whatever you can in and enjoy. Glad to see the past posts have helped. When Lynn and I set sail for the first time, Wonder, we did not know about the site. As to which ships are the better, old or new, people love certain things and have developed favorites. Don't worry about the other ships and again, enjoy the Dream. The only drawback will be the crowded pools for family and kids. To small for the number of people but you get around that by using them on off hours, when people are busy doing other things. Other than that you will be busy and have a blast, especially the kids. Since the days are getting closer you will find the posting dying down a little because people are leaving for Orlando. We leave Saturday morning from Buffalo, New York and will stay at Port Canaveral's Country Inns and Suites that night. Won't get much sleep. That's normal no matter how many times we have done this. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. I know I'll be on the boards until Friday night. Enjoy.

Chris

I can give a try to get the info. To be sure I understand the location, it is in the flea market building? I'm aware of one such shop in the building. As to going to google, what should I google to locate the pic you referred to?

Hi everyone:cool1: It seems like we've been waiting forever for this vacation and now it's finally here. I hope everyone has safe travels to get the port:) Maybe we'll bump into a few of you at the CIS. See Ya

How about a meet in the lobby at 5pm on Saturday of CSI for anyone who would like.
Then I think there is still the meet on board at 3pm in Vista cafe.
Are the kids still meeting outside the Edge at 9 that night?
We are so excited and looking forward to meeting you all!

It's getting quiet on the thread. Must be everyone is either on their way early or busy packing. :confused3 That's good either way. Today is our last day at work. Tomorrow it's a trip down the road to Syracuse, New York to drop off the Morsel and Munchkin (Chihuahaus) at our daughter's Then back home to just get a couple hours sleep. :surfweb: then it's to Buffalo for our flight Saturday morning. Can't wait to get to Kelsey's at the port. :woohoo:

Hi Chris,
I missed your post two days ago, thank you so much for replying. There are two pictures that have the fish scale necklaces I'm looking for. I typed fish scale necklace nassau and the second post is from Sept. 14, 2008 on a Flickr account)and the second is "kelly and the fish scale necklaces" (Kelly is wearing a DCL lanyard and standing in front of a display-the necklace details are a bit difficult to see on this one.) I don't know where the flea market is because we just walked down the main street and went into the shops on the shopping guide. I found some more pictures and someone called the building the Festival Place Welcome Center. On my shopping guide it is labeled Cruise Port. It is not a preferred shop so it's not specifically labeled. Thanks so much for your help! Have a fabulous cruise.

:cool1::cool1:THE WAIT IS OVER!:cool1::cool1: We are leaving in 8 hours to pick up the in-laws then off for a couple nights in Orlando then will see everyone Sunday!:worship::banana::lovestruc:goodvibes:cool1: Pretty much everything is packed, magnets printed, house cleaned and READY FOR A BAHAMA MAMA!

Have a great time on your upcoming cruise to all of you!!
I have a favor to ask of someone on this meet thread....I and a few other Diser's that I chatted with are on other 5 day Dream cruises that start on a Sunday. We are hoping to figure out dining rotations etc and would love to see the navigator's from this cruise. Just wondering if one of you might be able to post them on the boards for us to see? It would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!
Melissa

Welcome back double dippers. I hope you all had an amazing time. I'm on an upcoming 5 night double dip and am curious to see the latest navigator(s). Would someone mind sharing please? Please PM me, post here (or trip report), or submit them to wdwinfo. It will be much appreciated. Thank you!:wave2:
