Dream 5-Night March 4, 2012

Yes I hope everyone had a nice Christmas:thumbsup2
Now, quite ready to start 2012 with this cruise!!!!

I just found out that the day we will be in Nassau, they will be in port with us Carnival Fantasy and RCCL Allure of the Seas:yay: Can't wait to see that one, because I would love to try it in 2013!!!

Also, I think our group of 13 will go to the Sheraton Nassau at Cable Beach, sure looks nice, we have been to the Hilton, and we find the beach to small.

Not sure if I will be back here before January, so Happy New Year everyone:dancer::rockband:

This is our first cruise.

Myself (41), Husband (42), and Daughter (13)

Welcome, and you are starting the new year in a nice way with the Dream cruise. There is plenty things to do on the ship. The same goes for the two stops at the Castaway Cay. Your daughter is just under the 14 year old cutoff for the older teen activities. But don't let that stop you from enquiring if she could still take part in that older age group opportunities/activities. We have sailed with friends from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who have a daughter. When she was 13 she was able to make the leap to the 14 and above teen grouping. Even if not she will enjoy this cruise.

Hi! :wave2:
Welcome to the group!
We're newbie cruisers too and are very excited!
Our daughter, soon to turn 12 is looking forward to the edge. If your daughter wants to connect with other kids before she goes then feel free to send me a message. Esme is keen to make a few connections before we sail but no-one has come forward yet:) Our youngest however is hogging the kids thread!
I've heard it's important for the tweens to go to the edge event the first night. That's where they do all the ice breakers and the kids (although Esme doesn't let me use that word!) get to know some faces.
I saw you'd like to join the FE group too:banana: I'm on my way over there now to sign you up!

We have been on many cruises before, but never Disney. Just can't wait! Actually booked an inside room for the first time ever (we always have a verandah) but my son thought the magical porthole was so cool. We can not wait to do the aqua duck.
I am a mom traveling with my 11 year old son and hope to meet other single parents on board too!
Does anyone know which kids club might be more appropriate for 11 year old boy who loves video games?
Anyone else worried the pools/weather may be too cool in March.

Hi There!
Welcome :goodvibes
With Disney recently stating that the age rules in the clubs are going to be enforced, your son will only have the option of the edge. Luckily though I believe there will be video games there available to him :thumbsup2
It looks like a great space that the tween group will really enjoy.
We're not worried about the weather! Coming from the north we've usually hit -40'c by then, so anything will be balmy!
I saw your FE post and will add you on there later tonight :)

Happy New Year everyone!
party:

This is your final call for those wishing to be part of the FE group.
I am sending out info. to the group today and absolute final cut off day is January 8th. After that this boat had sailed. ;)

I hope everyone had a great Holiday and a Happy New Year:cool1: ... Wow !! the cruise is getting soooo much closer:banana:

Happy new year everyone!

We have decided to spend a five days at WDW and then go play with ya 'all. Sounds kind of exhausting really, but we are coming all the way from pacific nw with three small children and we miz well make it a big one.
Our kids have special needs so ...oh I have already started the prayers for a good trip. So glad Disney makes gf options at the parks and cruise. Does anyone know if the gf food is varied on the cruise verses the parks?

Still haven't chosen our fe gifts yet... Ouy  To make or to buy...that is the question

So excited!!! The kids use the Disney counter on their website for the vacation, don't think I am computer savvy to figure out the cruise count down. :worship:

That was our thinking too! We've paid for the flights so we might as well do some parks while we're there!
Slightly dubious financial reasoning!
Which parks are you going to visit?

We were going to have 3 days before and 2 days after at wdw. Just over Christmas we decided to swap the before to "the other parks" and visit Harry Potter world. We've not done that before with the kids, so we're all super excited! HP popular in our house at the moment, so a perfect time. Comics are also big here, so couldn't be better. In fact we're quite a Big Bang family really!

I don't know anything about gf food available I'm afraid, but would be interested to find out.

Happy planning!

We are going to all resort parks, no water parks. Prob start with magic k, then MGM, Epcot, animal kingdom, the magic k again. We didn't get hoppers because the kids tire out fast. We are there for the all nighter on the 29th. Hopefully that will make the day time crowds less:)
We will see, are you staying on property?

Very exciting!
We got hoppers last time and wish we hadn't really. We had to make the effort to use them, by going out in the evenings. This meant we didn't use all the facilities at the resort which was a waste.
This time we're doing 2 days after the cruise at POFQ and only have 1 park day. The other we're going to do Downtown Disney and enjoy the resort.
Before we sail we're staying onsite at Universal. The perks onsite were worth it for a short stay.
We've stayed offsite too before and loved escaping! The only downside is having to drive in! Gotta love disney transport!
Are you staying onsite?

Anyone else doing pre/post trips?
Lisagirl88, did you decide to do legoland?

yes, we are at PORS, family of five. Wish we could try some of the other resorts, but its too spendy. Is it looking like the fe is going to split? I am starting to work on my fe gifts and was looking at the size of the group. whew! who knew it would grow so much! It will be fun to see all the FE hanging out.

We still haven't decided whether we will do Legoland or not. We are doing WDW for 5 days before the cruise and are driving from PA so we also have 4 travel days and the cruise so not sure we want to add anything else on at this point. I am totally torn though because our older boys are so into Lego's right now.

I cannot believe we are only 2 months out now.....

At the moment it looks like we won't split. We're up to about 23 I think. I'll confirm on the FE site after the 8th, so keep an eye on that. We might get a sudden influx of people join though, you never know!
