Dream 5-Night March 4, 2012

Hi Everyone,
I know you have had plenty of chance to join and must be sick of me asking, but just incase there is anyone else who wants to take part,
tomorrow is the absolute cut-off date to join the Fish Extender group

Have a happy weekend!
Anita

Just a reminder that there is a kids-thread for them to introduce themselves before we sail.
If any of your kids would like to join the thread it's here.

Even if there's no-one there yet of your child's age, if you subscribe to the thread then you'll get notification when someone new joins, who may be the age you're looking for!:thumbsup2

Are there any other 18 year old high school seniors in this group? We are sailing with 3 and now that high school seniors who are 18 can't go to the teen club I am not sure what to expect. I am hoping there is a nice group in the 18-21 group for them to hang out with.

ok, I have tried two different ways to get a tracker, can someone tell me how?

Hi,
Maybe just the wrong thing copied.
Try the "PseudoHTML, UBBCode™ or BBCode " one.
I sorted this for someone else recently.
Try ************** if you can't get this one to work.
Have another go :good vibes
Edit
Just tried another one myself. Yes, after making it, you've copied the first info (html). Copy the next one down under "PseudoHTML, UBBCode™ or BBCode "

Is there a formal night on our cruise? My daughters love to dress up and have seen pics from other cruises with everyone dressed up but I can't find anything that says there is a specific formal night. This is our first cruise and maybe this has already been answered, sorry if a repeat question

Forgot to say in my last post, I have 2 daughters, 10 and 8, who would love to "meet" some friends before we cruise so I will sub the kids thread and see if they will post tomorrow! Since this is the first cruise for everyone in the family we are super excited but have a ton of questions!

I believe from what others have posted, the 5-night has a 'dress-up' night not a formal night. I think the difference is it's just not quite as formal as tux.
Our girls are also looking forward to wearing nice dresses at least once. Our eldest's first 'formal' christmas school dance was cancelled due to snow so she's busting to wear that dress!
I think anything goes. Some people may not dress up but many will. As newbies to the experience we will certainly be 'dressing for dinner' and will be a little smarter on dress-up night.
Just be comfortable in what you're wearing and then it doesn't matter what others have decided to wear :goodvibes

Have you thought about pirate night? We were going to go all out for it but have decided to just wear pirate t-shirts instead. We always travel light and it was going to be too much extra to pack :)

Glad to hear your kids will join the conversation on the kids board. The 8 year-olds are very chatty and there's a couple os 11-year olds getting started!

Hello fellow cruisers! Just a heads up that I'm about to cancel our reservation for cabana #8 on March 6. See you all in 2 months!

Just confirming what fredgirls stated about Formal night. We came off a 4 day cruise in April on the Deam. There was not a Formal nNight, just a an evening for dressing up. We asked about that at that time and were told that only the 7 day and above length cruises have Formal night. The dress up evening is optional. Some people dressed up. Some dressed in formal dress. Heavy picture taking evening. Forgot to say, plan on your girls dressing up as you stated. It was great to see the young kids dressed up and having pics taken with all the characters and princeses.

Hello fellow cruisers!
Thanks for replies about "formal" night! Will plan to bring party dresses for the girls and something nice for the hubby and I so we can enjoy a "fancy" dinner as my girls will call it! We are flying into MCO on the 3rd arriving at like 10:30 in the morning so I think we are going to get a hotel in Cocoa Beach to spend the afternoon and evening having some beach time. Does anyone have any tips on getting great rental car rates for a single day? When we get off the ship we are going to spend 3 nights at Universal so does anyone have advice on a one way transfer to Universal so we don't have to fool around with rental return when we get to Universal. I would love any advice and tips about deals! Can't wait

Hello Shelley,

Lynn and I have always arrived a day early and stayed at the port. We have always stayed at the Country Inns and Suites. Very nice hotel and has a very good hot breakfast buffet. It's included in the price of the hotel room. The Radisson is also a very nice hotel. More fancy than Country. You have to pay for breakfast at Radisson or go out to have breakfast. We have had sailing friends who have done both and there are no complaints about either. We just like the hot breakfast buffet convienance. No hassel when you are all excited about getting to the ship that morning. Both are just a mile or so from the ship terminal. The same friends recently tried Hampton Inn farther down the road. Bad experience. Dirty room, dirty and stained linen, fixtures well worn or not working. They stayed the night but got their money back. Both have shuttle service to the ship terminal. I don't know if that was extra. You would have to look into that aspect if you are thinking of that.
And thinking of that, car rental is next on your list. I have always looked at all the major car rentals. I always end up with Budget because they have slightly lower rates at time of ressie. They have good service (never been bothered with the extra insurance sales pitch). Had that with Avis once. All the major car retals are inside the main MCO terminal. Some of them have drop off sites near the port hotels. They have free shuttle service to the ship terminal. We always have our breakfast first then load the car and drop it off, and then use their shuttle to the terminal. Easy and fast. Shuttles run about every 10-15 minutes. Can't help you with after the cruise. It has always been going home via MCO.

Great to hear! We're staying here the night before too. I think there's a few others in our group who'll also be there.

We're really looking forward to having the afternoon/evening in the area. Any good restaurant recommendations? Family friendly. That's always the thing that's hard to gauge from websites. Having a children's menu doesn't always mean they're very welcome! ;)
We won't have a car, but there's a number of cab companies and it doesn't look like much cost to get to cocoa beach.

ShelleyLynn, we're actually doing Universal before the cruise. We looked into lots of travel options, but love not driving while on holiday so opted for a town car. Got a good deal. Pick us up from MCO, to Universal, then universal to port, then port to disney. When we worked out cost pp for shuttles, the town car worked out cheaper. And on our schedule.

Some good links from 'shirley's' page about the port area.

I just booked our park/cruise reservation at Country Inn & Suites. We are staying there before and after the cruise. We are going to the KSC for two days after the cruise. Thought since I was pulling my kids out of school, I better add in something educational. :teacher: Wow, less that two months left. I better get a move on with my FE. I've got them made but not decorated. I have all the FE gifts ready except the older girls and women. I'm doing something crafty for that group.

There's getting quite a crowd at CI&S! :yay:
We've played the educational card one year too.
Esme did her science project on roller coasters!:rotfl:

We might have a snow day tomorrow so hoping the kids and I can get some FE gifts finished :thumbsup2
