I am considering purchasing 2 addon contracts.

I currently own 165 BCV.

I am considering 50 pts. at SSR and 65 pts. at OKW.

What would be some drawbacks of owning these smaller contracts?

We will visit BCV yearly and use the smaller for every other year visits or to extend our stay.

I'd like to hear all opinions on the matter.

Thanks
Lifer

There are no drawbacks to owning more points, IMO.

It will require some diligence to watch banking deadlines, but otherwise, the extra points are a nice option to won and use.

Enjoy!

Its a good idea if you intend to vary your stays. You can have three(possible four) times your yearly allotment alternating years at alternating resorts with the eleven month window.

Its a lot of planning and banking and borrowing, but Caskbill's program could do it.

You didn't say if you were buying resale or thru Disney. If these contracts are resale, you will have closing fees for each contract, as much as $500 each, which would make the cost prohibitive in compared to one larger contract, where you are paying only one closing. Thru Disney, there is no closing, so it's all a matter of preference. Myself, I would prefer one large contract, but I live daily with three contracts and 2 add-ons, which is a lot of tracking of points. The smaller contracts are easy to sell, however, if you should ever need cash.

This plan can work well if you're the type of person that can pay attention to detail and you will not need more than say 2-3 years worth or points at a time for any of the locations you own. In this situation, make sure they're all the same use year to simply things.

I will be purchasing thru Disney.

I already have my paperwork for the 65 pts at OKW and Im in the decision phase on SSR.

My use year will be March for all three contracts. If I decide to own BCV OKW and SSR, I will have 280 points total.

Richyams, what is the possible four times my yearly allotment? Would you please explain a little more on that? I want to make sure I use my points the best way possible.

I have already downloaded Caskbill's Program and with the same UY I should not have any problem keeping up.

For II exchanges, can I combine my contracts/points for a trade?

Thanks so much for the great info!

You would have to plan a vacation that spans your use years.

Dec use year, last week of Nov using last year's banked points and this year's current points, first week of December using the new year's current points and next year's borrowed points.

Yes you can do that but you also need to be careful to tell MS where you want the points to come from when making a reservation. In other words if you want the 65 points used from OKW before you touch all of the points on your master contract, you need to tell them to do it that way.

I find it very easy to manage my 150 points for every other year vacations - and very difficult to do it for three years without wasting points. I would think small contracts that small would be hard to combine into anything worthwhile at the "home" of the points - and a little risky to make use of to extend your normal points seven months out, but I suppose if you are traveling weekdays in the low point season and aren't buying those OKW points for a GV for using them at their "home" or traveling when the seven month window isn't a problem at your primary home, its doable.

My only advice is that I'd up the 50 points at SSR to 55 points so you have enough points to stay in a studio for 5 nights every year during adventure season.

LIFERBABE,
Here is another consideration: If you purchased 105 points at SSR, wouldn't you be able to take advantage of the $10.00 off per point (plus you get to keep the points!)? Will you be done adding on points after these two add ons or is there a possibility you may add on more later?
On thought--add on 105 SSR right now and take advantage of the incentives and then you could add on OKW next time (assuming there are more add ons in your future :) ).

Richyams,

Thanks for the explanation. Would that work with a March UY? Im trying to work it out on paper but have not fully grasped that concept. Another good argument for choosing your use year's wisely as If I did this with a March UY, It would be during magic/premier season. Also I would have never thought of this, so thanks again. Could I make this reservation all at once or would I have to wait to borrow that 4th years points?

BEACHCLUBVILLAS I have considered 55 points for that very reason (sun-thur stay) when we visit Vegas we always stay sun-thur as the weekends are extremely crowded, so I imagine WDW would be the same way during peak times. I may have to scrape some more pennies together for the extra 5 points. SSR would be our alternative for our yearly adult vacation to Vegas.

I am still on the waitlist to add on more points at BCV, but I spoke with my guide y-day and she said they have nothing at all so far. Possibly 60 more at BCV and then we will be finished. (I think):hyper:
